Depleted LSU squad. Being played in Texas (where K-State has already played three times this season). 8 pm game (9 pm EST). All the ingredients are there to cook up a cat victory and avoid a devastating 3 game skid heading into off-season 2022 ("OS22").

I get super excited about bowl games but I hardly care when we lose them. I get frustrated by utterly embarrassing performances, like 2001 against Syracuse in the Insight Bowl. I also have problems losing when a win can validate a generational season, 1998 Alamo Bowl loss robbed us of the opportunity to claim a fake national championship like UCF, OSU, and A&M. The 2012 Fiesta Bowl fit both categories, therefore it was the worst bowl loss of them all, but still, in the grand scheme of things, meh.

There’s no way to characterize the game other than complete domination. LSU did not score a single point without a 21+ point cushion.

Agreed those 3 TDs we gave up were super WTF, and honestly especially early it seemed like LSU's overall talent was going to be a problem, but it ended up being completely mute. That was one of the best Skylar games ever, that throw into triple coverage to Brooks was amazing, and in general great poise.
As for Klein being the OC, um, I'm good with it. We were sharp, able to recognize when something wasn't working (running outside), realize when something was working (running inside), and in general great play calling to keep LSU off kilter all game. Yes it was a short handed LSU, but no way with Mess we win that game 42-20. I'm at this point (could change next year) especially with Adrian coming in letting Klein loose with this offense.
The defense had those lollers TDs, but also when they decided to do well they really did well. I think the worst was at time tackling looked suspect. But that entire sequence after that kickoff that pinned LSU like inside the 15, the defense just smacked LSU around until Yeast picked them off. That was a lot of fun.

Being the only game on all night, and basically the last game of the year, made it even better.

K-State dominated this from the start behind an aggressive offense that rolled to 442 total yards, engineered the longest drive in Texas Bowl history — an 18-play, 71-yard jaunt that took 9 minutes and 16 seconds — and in front of a crowd of 52,207 methodically dismantled an SEC opponent short on a few players yet just two years removed from winning the College Football Playoff National Championship.
K-State scored touchdowns on 6 of its 9 possessions.
“I fully expected us to win the game,” LSU interim head coach Brad Davis said. “I thought we had a plan that we put together as a coaching staff that would lend to allowing our players to go out and make plays. That plan was obviously not executed well.”
