Cats win ~24 games this year, get 4-5 seed, and get to the Sweet 16.

Definitely a bubble team this year. 10 seed. Will take for this Sophomore group.
-
Bubble team. Last 4 in. oscar wins a tourney game. Saves job. This is his gimmick.

As much as I want to say NO, this is prob the most likely scenario. I just get hyped every year...

Which means like next year is our surprise E8 run, next year after that is a Big 12 run that we crash out of the first round as a 3/4 seed
-
17 wins on the wrong side of the bubble, oscar wins NIT and gets extension.
-
Tougher non-con than usual.
9-4 non-con
9-9 conference
1-1 P66
19-14, puts us squarely in the first 4/NIT range

I don’t see how we win a single game against the top four so that’s 10 tries for 9 wins agains the bottom 5.
-
8th place, no tournament, someone ends up in a boot.

Without looking at the roster or having any idea how good we'll be I'd be shocked if we go 0-8 against the top 4. If you play 8 games with a 13% chance to win, you'll probably win one of them even each individual matchup looks impossible.
-
mcgurl breakaway dunk ... oh no
-
Based on the first 8ish minutes of the season an NIT bid is looking like the ceiling for this team.

I don't think that's a sound basis for a season-long projection!

0-30, later pud oscar
I put this in the wrong thread LMAO

Even if you go 1-7 you need to win 8/10 against the other 5 to get to 9. That’s highly unlikely.

You're absolutely right

Big game oscar will definitely win us a couple against the top 4 teams

Actually it is too early for me to say you're absolutely right other than your point that the divide between top and bottom teams probably won't be so stark. Why isn't 9-9 feasible?

Just list the matchups and where you think we get 9 wins from. I personally don’t think we get more than 1 win against the top 4 with how good those teams will be. That leaves 10 games for us to get 8 wins from and I think we are probably good enough to split with OSU, OU, and WVU so that’s 3 more. So if you sweep ISU and TCU you get 1 + 3 + 4 is 8. I think 8 is the ceiling. If you win 2 out of 8 against top 4 then you are maybe in business.
-
Oh I don't know anything about about anyone's roster at all
-
Like I don't even know who the top 4 teams you're referencing are other than I'm guessing Texas and Kansas

Baylor is the reigning NCAA champion and picked third in the league if that tells you anything. My assumption is TTU will still be really good from what Beard left behind but maybe they aren’t in that top 4 tier as the season progresses. I think 9-9 gets us to the dance and would be thrilled.
-
11-2 non con
10-8 conf
2-1 P66
0-1 Tournament
-
ngl do we seriously play 19 big 12 games? Thought it was 18...
-
Baylor is turning over a lot of that roster and the coaching changes at Tech and Texas might take some time to gel. I wouldn't be surprised to see oscar go 2-6 there. While I would expect those teams to be really good, I would also expect one of the four to be disappointing.
It's probably a bit optimistic still to say 7-3 against the bottom. You're talking me into 8-10 in the conference. Even after the ugly opener, I have my early season optimism going though.

I have almost quadrupled my sample size and the the ceiling hasn't really moved that much from my original post.

Our non con is really tough this year, schedule makers certainly did us no favors :)

My prediction: we're sexy AF all year as long as we're wearing the throwbacks. They might be the best uniforms in all of college hoops. Could use some regular purple alternates tho.
-
Projection: not too rough ridin' good
-
gtfo yoga, we're going to be alright
-
hopefully bradford and pack start packing a salad for their lunches. Smith might be the most rigid/tight bodied basketball player I've ever seen. McGuirl should've McLeft.

The timing of him agreeing to come back and then signing Mark Smith was not ideal.
