Title: 80s absolute bop of the day but it has to have a funny vid & preferably synth
Post by: fatdamon on October 17, 2021, 04:27:59 PM: ITT I will post one song per week that you totally forgot about from when your were a kid if you are 38-49 years old. They will only be bangers with that undeniable 80s sound. It is my goal that when you play them you'll be like "hmmm, not sure I remember that one" but then when the chorus hits you'll be like "O crap I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT"

If you are here to crap on 80s music then gtfoomt because it's the best

If you're here to find bon jovi or other stadium rock then gtfoomt because yes, bon jovi is pretty ok but ITT we will feature songs that peaked at like #37 on the pop charts. Edit: will also post peak chart position when available through a lazy google search

Double edit: will not post any that don’t have some sort of hilarious video element

also these videos will prolly have a lot of crossover with the "yes pls" thread

Plus, the video has a hilarious part at 2:39 where he calls his lady on the phone and she either hangs up on him or doesn't answer, then in anger he slams down the payphone receiver and it shatters into a million little pieces (like his heart).

Yeah man that’s what I love about the songs I will be featuring ITT. They make me wonder how many folds in the back of my brain are reserved strictly for 80s song lyrics and movie quotes.

Also, no argument that Panama is a great one, but I’m trying to stay away from mega-bands here. I want to link songs that make people go “o holy crap I haven’t heard that song since I went on that youth group ski trip in ‘89”

it was then picked up by martha wash and izora armstead (who at the time were performing as a group called “two tons of fun”). They named themselves “the weathergirls,” making themselves the first band in history to name themselves specifically after song that had ALREADY BEEN WRITTEN and then have that song go to #1 on the charts.
