Cutting programs. Life after the NCAA might mean no more pesky minimum scholarship counts. Title 9 isn't going away, but it's basically going to be football, men's basketball, and how ever many women's programs add up to those football and men's basketball scholarship numbers.

I'm probably alone here, but I haven't enjoyed watching big boy college football a whole lot for a while now. Too much formulaic production and marketing. Too little authentic fun and joy. It's been like the stupid, awful NFL.
I don't think it would be a bad thing at all to start paying a lot less attention to the top tier and a lot more attention to a G5 type league. And all the better if we're in it!

I agree and I am going to be one mad mother effer :curse: :curse: if when we get to our small timey conference and are playing Cincinnati at 4:39 on Tuesday, I still have see red hat guy and watch 37 commercial breaks every game when we are getting 10% of what we used to.

It’s a lot more interesting when different teams get their time to shine. Like the NBA playoffs were amazing this year despite injuries. Instead of Lebron vs whoever for the 10th year. But it probably did worse ratings-wise because people like stars. So people will prob still watch the new college football with even less teams have a chance to win it all. Cause people are dumb.

The upper levels of college football will outdraw the lower levels, but at the end of the day, college football is basically minor league football. Most people watch it due to the university affiliations, and there won't be as many total viewers as universities start getting left out.

A good time for college football to go to the relegation system of english football. Have a 32-ish team Div 1, another 32-ish Div 2, etc. Promote/relegate top/bottom 6-8 each season. Would be very interesting/entertaining.

I care about our dominate crop judging program.

The top heavy nature of college football has no bearing on how fun the regular and bowl season are. Clemson, Ohio State, and Alabama being the only schools in the sport capable of being national championship contenders ever year matters for 3 games in January.

I think having your regular leagues and then a champions league would be more fun. I suppose a 16 team playoff is essentially a champions league.
