Sup ballers, tickets are now on sale. Our school from Kansas who was supposed to host a team from California is playing a game in a professional stadium in the state of Texas against the team from California. Annnnyyyyway, i'll be attending if we all have the vaccine. Anyone else planning on making the trip? :ksu: :billdance: :ksu:
-
greg, describe to me what a pak with you would look like.
-
in an effort to undo the injustice that ad gene taylor as committed by moving this game, i plan on driving to MHK and watching the game with some of the board at a yet to be determined venue, spending money in aggieville/MHK
-
Not I, and my mother lives there. Just too expensive for what the experience will be. It's like going to a shitty mid December bowl but paying NYE 6 prices.

I haven't looked. What are they asking?
$40-$250. Those $40's would be dece if the stadium was full but with the 30,000-50,000 that will be there those $40's will be ass.
-
Vaccinated and going. Cousin who attended Stanford is flying in and sitting with us (lower bowl seats are $109). Hoping we get to mock his tree-mascot team for 3.5 hours. I imagine ticket prices will absolutely crater closer to the game due to a lack of interest...

Also one thing that I think is booty is that they don't appear to be selling lower level sideline seats, those must be just for the PSL holders. The invite from K-State only had uppers, lower ends and corners and club seats. Unless Cowboys Stadium considers their lower sideline seats all club level, and their club level is called something else, which is possible I guess.

My venue changing outrage will not allow me to attend

I imagine it would be everyone making Greg take different shots and he never makes it into the stade

I'm thinking I'll attend. It will be more fun if my designated driver (my wife) chooses to attend but she didn't seem too excited about it.

My current plan is to limo/towncar from the hotel to the game and back. That is usually my preferred method of transportation to and from Royals games in KC.
-
This is probably going to be the first full capacity allowed football game in that stadium that isn't a preseason game. The attendance might be more than we first thought.

Kinda lame it's on FS1. At 11am too. If it were 11am on Fox, it would be different.

gE should start doing some bake sales so K-State football doesn't have to debase itself with this embarrassing nonsense.

As predicted this move sucks total ass and is total ass

The owners could T-Boone the entire AD but we choose to give out charity to more deserving causes. :kstategrad:

is there a good corner area of the dome that we could assign tracz & band to? ideally we ask him to forego a hotel room and sleep in the corner as well.
-
I can't believe Jerry would schedule an FS1 game in his stadium.
-
this is dumb
-
I for one am thankful that it's televised. That said, no idea if I'll be watching or not.
-
I'm considering going to tailgate and then watching the game at Texas Live.
-
When we schedule patsies like Stanford we get what we deserve.
-
We are mercenaries looking for a paycheck, anything else that Gene said about why we decided to do it was just cover.
-
If you think Gene even noticed and wasn't snoring in his rocking chair lol at you
-
Of course we have the luck of playing one of these classic games on what might be one of the best week 1 schedules of all time. Oh well, I'll enjoy watching our game and all the other great games from the comfort of my couch.

David Shaw is pissed
From The Athletic
Stanford’s David Shaw frustrated with Fox for early kickoff time for season-opener: ‘I don’t want to hear s—‘ about ratings
By Stewart Mandel Jun 4, 2021 166
During an interview Friday, Stanford coach David Shaw leveled uncharacteristically harsh criticism at Fox Sports for placing the Cardinal’s Sept. 4 season-opener against Kansas State in Arlington, Texas, at Noon ET due to it being 9 a.m. on his players’ body clocks. He also hinted at displeasure within the Pac-12 that Oregon’s marquee game Sept. 11 at Ohio State will also be played at that time.
“I am pissed at Fox for our kickoff time against Kansas State,” Shaw told The Athletic. “… For Stanford in particular and Oregon to be going and playing in a different time zone, and give us an early kickoff, to me, is incredibly disrespectful. And it shows a lack of understanding of what we have to do, and the way that time difference truly affects us. It shows a lack of care for our student athletes.
“That, to me, is something that is egregious, and I don’t care who I piss off, but I think they’re wrong. A lot of our people in our conference are upset too.”
Shaw’s comments come a little more than a week after Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione released a statement that said, “We are bitterly disappointed” that the Sooners’ Sept. 18 home game against Nebraska — the 50th anniversary of schools’ famed Game of the Century — was chosen for Fox’s Big Noon Kickoff window (11 a.m. CT).
“We tried every possible avenue to proactively make our case (for a later kickoff),” wrote Castiglione. “The Big 12 Conference also supported our strenuous efforts to secure a more traditional time that would honor this game and our fans. However, in the end, our TV partner chose to exercise its full contractual rights and denied our requests.”
A Fox Sports spokesperson declined to comment about Shaw’s remarks.
Fox has enjoyed strong ratings since launching its Big Noon package in 2019 — five of that season’s 10 most-watched games aired in that window, including two Oklahoma games. But it has caused inconveniences for some of the participants and their fans. Castiglione told reporters last week he was frustrated with the “disproportionate number of (OU) home games that have occurred at 11 (a.m.)” — 23 since the 2016 season — and the difficulties they pose for fans that travel in for the games.
“They (Fox) can say whatever they want to say. I don’t want to hear crap about, ‘Oh, it’s great ratings.’ I don’t care about the ratings,” said Shaw. “… This is either complete disregard, or lack of understanding how difficult it is to be a West Coast team that travels east and gets forced to play an early kickoff game.”
The Stanford-Kansas State game is not technically a “Big Noon” game. It is airing on FS1, not FOX. That network’s other three time slots that day consist of a Major League Baseball game at 4 p.m. ET followed by two other games involving Pac-12 teams, Oregon State at Purdue (7 p.m. ET) and Nevada at Cal (10:30 p.m. ET), meaning either the Beavers or Cardinal were likely going to fall into the Noon ET window.
Shaw’s beef is at least somewhat rooted in Stanford’s 16-6 loss at Northwestern in the 2015 season-opener, which aired on ESPN. The Cardinal that year went on to finish 12-2 and win the Rose Bowl behind star Christian McCaffrey.
“Northwestern played great, not to take anything away from them, but we played that game half asleep, and everybody saw what we’re capable of the rest of the year,” said Shaw. “Go back to 2009 at Wake Forest (a 24-17 loss). We played a really good first half; second half, our guys are dead. Their legs are dead, it’s a hot, muggy, early-morning wake up, and our guys couldn’t bounce back.”
Complaints about kickoff times in the Pac-12 aren’t new, but usually they’re about late-night ET kickoffs. It’s also extremely unusual for a high-profile coach to directly attack a TV partner. While the Stanford-Kansas State game falls under the Big 12’s TV rights, Fox and ESPN combine to pay the Pac-12 more than $250 million a year, most of which gets distributed to its member schools. Just last season, USC and Arizona State agreed to play a 9 a.m. PT game in Los Angeles for the Big Noon Kickoff package.
“I’m not happy with Fox, and I don’t care that they’re not going to be happy with my comments,” said Shaw. “We have to start sticking up for ourselves as West Coast teams, because we’re going to get judged the same, but we’re going to be playing against guys that get to sleep in their own beds, sleep in their own time zone and wake up at 8:30 in the morning, while our guys are getting up at 6:30 in the morning and losing those two hours of sleep.”
Stanford is playing another intersectional road game this season in Week 3 at Vanderbilt. That game is airing at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ESPNU, which is available in roughly 60 million homes, compared with nearly 80 million for FS1 as of 2020.
Disclosure: Stewart Mandel worked for Fox Sports from 2014-17.

Is Stanford flying in the morning of the game?
-
He's right though, it does really suck for them. KSU and OU whining is dumb.
-
I doubt it, they won't even be in school yet. There's always been narrative around west to east travel with football teams, college and pro.
-

K-State and OU whining aren't in the same class. K-State fans whining is comprised of a few people inconvenienced with travel and tailgating. OU's whining is institutionalized and they think there's some conspiracy against them.
All that being said there is a real tangible issue with 11AM games, namely for Big 12 schools outside of the state of Texas, and it's that if you have a recruiting visit planned for a kid in Texas then you're given an 11AM kickoff, those visits are frequently postponed or cancelled altogether.

I never knew that. I thought they usually came in the night before.
-
Sounds like an excuse for when they get their asses kicked
-
Why don’t you go to bed earlier?
-
Maybe the conferences should have thought of this before they made their big tv money grab.

This is my deal with OU crying. Stanford didn't have a choice with our game and the Northwestern games, since they're road games they are subjected to the home team's media deal. Central and Eastern time zone teams should always want visiting pacific time zone teams in the early slot. We had full control of that for the Nevada game but went with 1:00, terrible kick time for everybody.
Iowa State has to kick with UNLV at 9:45PM central time, I'd have to think that is just as bad, if not worse for flood aggie.

Disagree. It’s great from a throwback perspective. DOD 1.0 was full of 1:10 kicks.

2:30 is the best time

take it to the getting old thread but I don't mind the 11am anymore. Too early for me personally to start boozing and then still time in the day to get other sh1t done. If not 11 then give me a night game all day son.
-
If it’s a medium game and I’m attending, 2:30 is perfect. If it’s a giant game, whether I’m attending or nit, it better be under the lights.

Yes. Great thing about the old 2:30 ABC games was the big games were late in the year, so you got sunset and then the lights!

Every single one of those were terrible, non televised games. 1:10 kickoffs against Eastern Illinois and Iowa State.

The 17-6 one? Yeah, I was there. It was weirdly early but may have just been an 11 am kickoff that we weren't used to at the time. I remember watching Bump In The Night on ABC before going to the game, so factoring in ABC Saturday morning time and young SB transportation to the stadium, parking, and walking in, it couldn't have been before 10:00.
-
Yep, according to this it was an 11:00 am start.

2:30 is the best time
Late to responding to this, but 100% agree. You don't have to wake up super early, get plenty of tailgating in and you eat more or less at lunch time, go to the game, it's over at 5/5:30, you can go back, have dinner, also at a normal time, maybe a quick nap and head to the ville. Easily my favorite time for home games.
11 am sucks for home games, so early, but love it for road, gets it over quick.
Late games can be fine but I prefer them for only the big games and really only want them occasionally. It becomes a lot to the lead up if they happen often.
-
I'm worried about this game. I fly out this Sunday for a two day work meeting on Monday and Tuesday in Detroit. I get back early Wednesday morning and then turnaround and fly out to Dallas to stay with my buddy on my birthday (Thursday) and hang with him until Sunday. I'm not a young pup anymore. I might be dead by the end of this week. The early morning kickoff is probably the best thing for me. :cyclist: :cyclist:

Staying in Arlington near the stadium/Texas Live. UT-Arlington's bar district is a couple miles away from the stadium. According to KSO, a decent amount of people are staying over in Sundance Square in Fort Worth which has bars/restaurants.

Welp, we evacuated Ida to Dallas yesterday, so depending on devastation levels/how long power is out or whatever, we may end up going to this stinkfest after all. The Popeye's hangout spot near the stadium will help us feel right at home. StubHub has cheap seats for $6.

Staying in Arlington Friday night somehow walkable to the stadium. Last time I was at jerrydome didn't seem like anything was walkable.

Really tough timing here. Was expecting bunch of fam to come down for the Stanford game, but our plans are coming undone due to covid...I'm now sitting on 13 tickets on Rows 1 and 2 of Section 110 behind K-State bench - 45-50 yard line. Just listed the first group of 5; Section 110 Row 1 seats 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. These rows are about 10 feet above the turf.
Just listed the first group of 5 seats on Row 1 on stubhub, (where I bought them). I am listing them at $199, less than the $243 per each that I paid all-in with fees/taxes. Hope to get these to some K-State fans that will be rowdy, cheer on the Cats, and have a great gameday experience. Looking like we may be stuck on the couch.
Club Hall of Fame 110
Row 1 | Seat(s) 3,4,5,6,7

Welp, we evacuated Ida to Dallas yesterday, so depending on devastation levels/how long power is out or whatever, we may end up going to this stinkfest after all. The Popeye's hangout spot near the stadium will help us feel right at home. StubHub has cheap seats for $6.
we should finally meet and say hello

I’ll have half a king bed to share at the Tru Friday night if anyone wants to spoon.

The term is a bedfellow.

I don’t think I’ve ever shared a bed with nicname, but I think we’ve slept in the same place at least 5 different times and places.

You tailgating? I’ll be there probably about 9:30, but I’ll have my kids in tow. My dream would be to do a full 90-minute stade walk analysis with Dlew IRL, but again, a 5 year-old and a 2 year-old would make that experience unfulfilling. But if you’re around before the game let me know your plans! I’ll probably do some light tailgating.

I can’t remember being bedfellows w/ Trim. That’s not saying it hasn’t happened.

Holiday Inn, Fatty Fest like 6 years ago or so, that year where I wanted to fight Nick Russell at that bullchicks place, y'all were both blasted and I had to leave at 6:00AM.
-
Places I can for sure remember nicname and I both crashing at:
Portland hotel for BeasleyPAK.
My place in Seattle for BeasleyPAK.
MHK Holiday Inn but when we had a suite and there was a futon nic crashed on.
Possibly:
A different MHK HI time if MIR’s reference is different.
Maybe Camp MIR in Iowa.
Each other’s homes in Wichita or Wichita adjace.
Any other instances where paks abruptly ended with passing out.

I have officially reconsidered going to this game. Getting a little FOMO right now. Considering that it’s Labor Day weekend and stuff. I potentially might be at this game now.
I still have tickets left trying to unload. Section 110 Row 2. 5 seats left. 45 yard line behind KState bench.

Thanks but I changed my mind again and will NOT be attending the game.

Was at the Cotton Bowl after 2011 season vs Arky, and a Cowboys game in last couple years - the stadium is a palace. Get there early to gawk at it. Actually - for out of staters coming down asking about Texas Live - it just opened in the last year ish. Went there for drinks before the Green Day / Weezer concert in July. It is KC Power and Light on steroids. Pretty cool place and is adjacent to the new Rangers ballpark and Jerry's World, park close and easy walk to the stadium. It will be packed w/purple tonight. Give it a look - cool place for the younger crowd or those w/kids in tow.

Let’s pak, eff heads

Have fun you crazy kids

Jack’s granddaughter is at this crap Texas live place

So? Pak reports, either before or after? The Blue 10 lot was on fire with tater grapes ruling the roost before the game. I dunno what happened after the game because instead of partying I went to Wal-Mart with my daughter.

I got a couple “Hey man, are you fanmanksu?” on the flight home today. Probably needs to be in the shame thread as I heard many say: “Yeah, that’s him!”. I think I tweet too much. Trent Green was on our flight too, for some odd reason.

My god did MH and myself have fun together this weekend

Good time here as well. We sat on Stanford side. Crowd was disappointing, but given this was my first live game since the Liberty Bowl it was a lot of fun with easy drive in and out, etc.

Nice!

I think fanning sat in front of me during the game. At one point I yelled “fanning!” And he didn’t turn around so maybe it wasn’t him.
10ish yard line elite seats

Yes sir! That was me! Sorry, I’m going deaf. My buddy hooked us up with those seats. He works for the Cowboys. We had a blast!

My friend works for the cowboys too! That’s why I was sitting down there!
