six games to glory. the easy part is done, each game just gets harder to lose from here on out. history awaits.

oscar is trying to match EC Curtis with the worst losing streak in K-State history. In 1922 Curtis' Wildcats lost 9 straight, won a game, then lost 5 straight to end the season before starting the 1923 season with another 9 game losing streak. The media guide says 15, but the count is 14 by the schedules.

Currently on a 4-game fOOD losing streak, with the opportunity to tie and break that record over the next 4 days.
-
It’s all in the hands of the schedule makers now. Will they do us any favors?
-
That’s wild that as bad as it felt KSU hoops was during Asbury/Wooly, we’d never lost 5 straight at bramlage until oscar did it last year, with him now trying to put that record even further out there this year.
-
Also, K-State and Iowa State are currently engaged in an epic #strivefor9th

Yep, someone can't count. I'm sad that we've reached a point where I discovered that media guide error.

It’ll be cleanest to get to at least 15 now and have that error corrected as the new kings are crowned, while also precluding any asterisk as far as the streak stretching across seasons and arguably requiring 2 different teams to accomplish it.
-
my goodness, there's so many different streaks on the line today. you can almost feel history dancing in the air.
-
gonna need someone (tech) to score a goddamn point or we're gonna blow it.
-
these fuckers.
-
this is a trainwreck.
-
ten down, five to go. the fight continues.

The opportunity to set the new mark at 6 exists tonight, and it's not one to be taken lightly.
-
i like our/their chances
-
just tuning in now - a little worrisome that kstate has managed to score so many points already.
-
if kstate scores 70+ in a game does that get recorded as a win under the alternative minimum points rule? anyone know how that works?
-
i dunno, but these cats are still thinking of getting a win the old-fashioned way. they've got the horns reelling.
-
texas is falling apart.
-
man, thank god mcgurl missed that one.
-
this is a nightmare.
-
that missed dunk could have been a disaster, but all's well that ends well. the five game bramlage streak is shattered, we're looking at a new all-time bramlage losing streak record holder.
underlying it all, we notch another loss. eleven down, four to go. we persist.
-
I hope COVID is solved in time for this year's awards banquet to be as grand as this historic season deserves.
-
Does the Alternative Minimum Points Rule come with statistical guidelines and qualifications on ppg during the season?
Checked KenPom, I think 200 adjO qualifies this as a W, but will it go up?
i don't believe you can claim an amp win when the final margin is under 10.

Moved up 5 spots!
-
twelve down, three to go. the upcoming home game with ku is probably our toughest test remaining. we're so close and yet still so far away.

Has anyone reached out to Mr. Curtis’ descendants to invite them to the fOOD, a la when Roger Maris’ kids would go to the home run record chase games?
-
Just make sure for heavens sakes nobody celebrates the 15 with a wig+headband

:surprised:
Too late to salvage The Streak, but could factor into both L streaks.

if kstate gets that isu win, people are going to be discussing whether the streak needs an asterisk or not for decades.

-
If this is achieved, let's not forget the contributions from the schedulemakers, the anti-maskers and the butchers.
In a season of adversity, the Wildcats have faced teams currently ranked in the AP Top 25 Poll in 10 of their last 11 conference games. The only unranked opponent, Oklahoma State, received the most votes of any D1 team not included in this week's AP Poll.
During that stretch, COVID-19 precautions or injuries have cost four of five opening night starters at least one game for the Wildcats.
"Our trainers, our health care workers and frontline guys, they've been extraordinary," Weber said. "Not only their time, but their knowledge and working with the doctors and giving us a chance."
-
we can't count on the schedulemakers tonight, i'm afraid. i hear that weber and the staff have circled this game as their toughest remaining loss and are privately very worried that ku won't be able to get the job done.
-
Floors will be slapped
-
this is such a frustrating game. ku simply refuses to dominate.
-
Our defense is killing it.
-
say what you will about kstate, you can't deny their defense.
-
people on here scoff at slapping the floor, but it is clearly working. my question to coach weber - why not slap the floor on offense?
-

I texted Coach T after reading this, and he told me "we good." U welco.
-
we're all probably (and understandably) a little numbed by the defensive effort tonight, but it's worth stepping back and looking at the big picture here. the only remaining obstacles standing between ourselves and history are tcu on the road and ou at home. thirteen down, two to go; we fight on.
-

I rough fuçking love you people.
-
Today could be a big day.
-
i'm getting pretty nervous about this one. what if the tcu players haven't had food or water all week?
-
Ends today sorry sys
-
Ends today sorry sys
i hope our players realize that today they have the opportunity to choose between greatness and merely being a team that lost a lot.
-
my goodness, both teams want to lose so much.
-
they're saying that tcu is 4-6 in conference, which would mean that they've won at least one game against someone other than kstate or isu, but that can't be right.
-
Maybe UT when they lost basically the whole team to covid
-
the second most frustrating thing about this game is that the stats don't fully convey how stumbley and and slippery-ballish the play is.
-
i believe there have been four missed dunks.
-
This is actually really riveting. Which team wants it less? Who will manage to come away with the loss? It's a real nail-biter.
-
I trust oscar to get it done. We are a 2nd half team
-
not 100% sure, but i think a kstate player just stole an oop from another kstate player (did get the bucket tho).
-
jfc. go ahead and fire him.
-
Damn. Is it worth seeing just how many straight home L's he can run off?
-
Lock this piece of crap up, miserable ass bitches.
-
Good grief we fell apart
-
jfc. go ahead and fire him.
Can’t even lose right
-
This team's still accomplished a lot this season.
-
#ExtendBruce
-
#ExtendBruce
Slap that extension on em Gene!
-
Wasn't meant to be. EC Curtiss won't be passed up this time.
-
At least this endeavor should have kstatesports correcting their record book and media guide. I'd also like to see Curtiss' 14 marked with an asterisk to reflect he had to combine efforts from 2 different teams to get there.
-
My takeaway is that it's really, really hard to lose 14 in a row. There ar teams like Iowa State, TCU and us in this and others leagues every year. Tip of the cap to the Clones and Huskers, I guess.

After ISU plays Baylor Tuesday, they'll likely match our 13 game losing streak. I wonder how many leagues can say they had 2 teams lose 13 straight in the same season.
-
This team's still accomplished a lot this season.
you're being too kind; they accomplished nothing.

They destroyed The Streak with both an unprecedented loss to Hays and a record 7-loss and counting streak. Plus setting the record for consecutive overall L’s within a single season.
-
they were two games away. they choked.
-
God and the state of Texas did us no favors.
-
Streak is broken might as well start winning now
-
Lon 0-9 vs oscar in Manhattan.

The new record for consecutive bramlage L’s is set at 7. Considering only one team (last year’s) had ever had lost even 5 in a row, this one could stand 4 eva.
-
It's time to shift focus. This team is at 2TRAIGHT looking to make it ST3AIGHT on Saturday against a WV squad that I can assure you wants no piece of these cats
-
The next game doesn't matter much. We need to get hot and run the table at the Big 12 tourny.

What about us who’ve become so apathetic we simply don’t pay enough attention to know when or who Cat hoops is playing?
Happy for those youngsters.

I don't blame people for apathy. I do blame people for feeling in a range of "upset" to "bittersweet" about our young team beating the #6 team in the country.

Thank goodness for “close game” alerts on ESPN. The only Cats bball I’ve watched this year was the last few minutes of the OU game. I’ve been hoping we just tank and finally move on with a new coach, but I still had fun watching the win.
-
Get acquainted with Nijel Pack and Davion Bradford they are really good players
-
I really like Dajuan too. And Antonio. God love him.
-
I think Miguel could be a lynchpin for this team as they develop. He has shown some toughness that oscar teams need to be successful. In a couple of the games where we were getting embarrassed, he got more aggressive and was willing to put his shoulder into a defender and drive.
I have no problem with the talent on the team. I have a problem with the talent being limited to two out of the four classes for 6 years in a row and not getting corrected.
-
Good point on Miguel, he is a defensive stopper for sure. DG is a rebounding machine, it’s fantastic.

Yeah this is the problem and reflects Oscar's lack of overall program management skills. The big concern should be that if he was that inept or indifferent about recruiting at a level that could sustain a program when he knew he would deal with the consequences, how few shits is he going to give when he knows it won't be his problem when he is enjoying retirement?

Dude has landed a crap ton of 4 stars and has respectfully reeled in a ton of top 150's. Unfortunately, when they don't work out and leave, they also suck elsewhere. It's a gamble every year when you bring in new kids. You love bashing his recruiting efforts, when he's a fine recruiter. If anything, he lacks developing players. If only we had a Justin Williams to fix this team.

No wacky, he's either a terrible recruiter, a terrible evaluator, or a terrible developer of talent, or any combination thereof, and that is why we're at where we are right now. You can't be 9 seasons in and have twice the number of transfers as players he's graduated, that's abhorrent. If he gets fired it will be his fault that he has proven that he can't be consistently relied upon to identify, land, and develop players for this program.

He’s a world class talent evaluator. Probably average developer. Way below average recruiter.

I see fault in his ability to be a GM of his program. He and his staff have been particularly bad at missing on bigs.

Like how can you not close CJ Noland? And how can you be so stubborn to not recognize that if you suck at closing you have to bring on an assistant who can.

This is great, I thought wetwillie was gEing. Calling someone a world class evaluator who on average runs off over 3 players a year is historically awful evaluation.

He is incredible at talent evaluation. Nijel is an excellent example. He sucks complete crap at closing so he typically ends up with really poor recruits. Like how can you not close CJ Noland, legacy recruit at a position of need that could play day one.

Again, not mad at the talent level. I'm mad that there will be hardly any recruits/talent added this year and next because we have very few scholarships available. That means we are guaranteed to go through these shitty seasons all over again in 4 & 5 years. oscar has shown over 6 years that he doesn't care to fix this. The best we can do is hope for highs that will make the guaranteed lows worth it.
I agree he can be a fine recruiter as he's shown for the last two years. Since there won't be large numbers in the next two classes, oscar needs to pull even better players than he had in the last two classes to keep us out of that cellar in 4-5 years. If the next two classes don't produce a much higher talent level than Sneed, McGuirl, Mawien, and Diarra then we'll be right back where we are. If you're only going to have a handful of upperclassmen, they have to be very talented.

I'll give you credit for Nijel being a testament for being a great talent evaluator, even though he was a top 150 recruit. How many other examples do you have of oscar being a great talent evaluator, because I guarantee you that I can name two misses for every hit you name.

The Flush, Marcus Foster, Westicles are guys that were phenomenal players that went under recruited that he found. He finds crap tons of dudes before they blow up he just usually gets teabagged on the trail when it any kind of competition comes up. He whiffs in the fall and then brings in all the dudes you are about to rightfully mention because it’s what’s left in the spring. It’s maddening this dude knows talent and can clearly coach talent when he has it but he can’t close and basically refuses to do anything different to change the outcome. His 2021 class is not a P5 class and I highly doubt 2022 will be either.

All of those guys fit the same profile, they are fringe 150 guys who were great high school players but there was one particular thing about them that scared the top 40 schools off. That isn't evaluating for fit, that's finding the occasional gem out of the bargain bin. I'd put Dajuan and Nijel in that same bargain bin.
He doesn't bring guys in the spring because he's whiffing on recruiting, which he's definitely doing. He's bringing in guys late in the spring to fill the holes from players he's ran off because, TA DA, he isn't identifying right fits with the spring players he signs, it's a vicious never-ending vortex.
Also Marcus Foster was not lightly recruited. I'm letting you keep him in your little group because his recruitment fell off because he got hurt the summer before his junior year and got fat. He was a top kid in that class. His offer sheet is still better than any other player oscar has signed, multiple other P5s and other good high majors like Creighton and SMU when Larry Brown was there.
I wanna make one more point about recruiting that has come up here once our twice, but really not enough. Alvin Brooks landed Wes and Marcus, probably the two best recruits of the Weber era, no nor probably, definitely. We lost him to a conference opponent who has runaway with the conference and is going to get the overall #2 seed in the tournament. That's brutal.

Like how can you not close CJ Noland? And how can you be so stubborn to not recognize that if you suck at closing you have to bring on an assistant who can.
who's minutes is CJ going to take?

Mike would be ideal but oscar wants him back too. Selton doesn’t need 30+ a game either.

Yes he does. This type of thinking is exactly why we have developed like 5 players in 9 seasons.

He wouldn’t play 30 minutes a game for any other big 12 team not named Iowa State. He is a solid player but he has significant limitations shooting the ball. He will continue to get those minutes because we don’t have anyone better but that’s part of the problem.
