Title: UT post game discussion
Post by: MakeItRain on January 16, 2021, 09:32:21 PM
I really think this team would be performing better without oscar and Mike McBuckets. Mike just turns the ball over way too much and he takes really bad shots. I don't know that he's a better shooter than Dajuan. Good to finally see Luke play, wish he would have nice if he could have gotten involved in the offense.

That was a pretty incredible bad beat/backdoor cover.

I tried to tune in, but found out I don’t have LHN on YTTV? Maybe could have with ESPN+ in retrospect, but I’m not sure

i watched the first half, but didn't pay attention very well.  kind of a boring team, imo.

Pretty incredible that we had over 6 straight scoreless minutes of game time

I think Miguel could actually become a legit stud, but I always feel like he's trying to do too much. I dunno if the stats back me on that, just how I feel while watching him.

When are we going to finally cut bait on oscar? It’s over for him.

we’re not the type of school that doesn’t accept mediocrity

We are in pretty bad shape financially so when someone with 2 million dollars decides they are sick of it.

didn't he win a Dr. Pepper the season before last? plus the youngest team in the country and a fake season. he should stay TBH

There is a reason we are young and it’s part of the reason he needs to go

He has the physical tools, just isn't putting it together. The one thing Lance Blanks said on the broadcast that was precient was that he can be an Ice Likekele type of player. If he develops into that, with Davion and Nijel, those dudes could be scary. But...

There is a reason we are young and it’s part of the reason he needs to go

Yeah, and I'm starting to wonder if he can develop this team into what they can be. He's overturned entire rosters more than he's developed one. Of all the reasons to fire him, this season's results in a vacuum isn't the best of those.

You don't think his propensity to trade in players instead of developing them is problematic?

Yeah, the track record leads me to believe a new coach would prob have a better chance to keep the good young dudes than oscar.

Not particularly. Who did he "trade in" this season? (I legitimately don't know)

if you don’t know the answer to your question, then how do you form your opinion?

Because he's done something like what MiR is describing before and it was fine

Did you not see FAN's chart that dax posted? Only 10 players in 8 years have completed their eligibility under oscar. I think the number of his own scholarship players he's run off was 26, that's over 3 every single class. That's outrageous rusty, there's no spinning that, and there's no way that can pass as "fine."

We can't defend anyone. Texas did what they wanted. I can get poor offense from a oscar team, but this team can't defend and I don't see them getting much better.

Sorry, 10 out of 37, and 4 of those were transfers. He's graduated 6 high school recruits in 8 previous seasons, that's abhorrent. This seems indicative of bad recruiting and insufficient development of talent.

This would be defensible if we weren't so bad offensively as well. I don't even think this is a bad offensive basketball team, but they aren't scoring.

I want to be excited about the potential of Pack and Bradford, but I’m pretty convinced that oscar is going to oscar it all up. I also worry that my threshold for a “good” freshman has gotten to be too low.

oscar is more than likely going to have 5 conference wins in 2 years, which would be the worst since World War 2. It’s time to go.
