Title: boxing
Post by: steve dave on November 13, 2020, 08:31:08 PM
I have never watched boxing. I remember as a little kid mike tyson was super fun and good and I'd see his highlights on sportscenter and later I kicked his entire ass on punchout. but that's the extent of my boxing awareness.

BUT, there's a guy from Omaha named Terence Crawford and he's basically the best boxer around or something and I enjoy following how he's doing. He also makes some of his fights be in Omaha and everyone gets super excited about it. I don't watch the fights but I get excited to see if he won.

I feel really guilty watching boxers blast each other in the face until one of them gets concussed but my primal animal spirit makes me watch highlights sometimes.

I hope Terence can blast people so fast that he never gets concussed and win the whole damn thing!

Boxing reminds me of the opening scene of The Wire.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYgKmOJT_gM&feature=youtu.be&ab_channel=WireLover2

(Paraphrasing)

"Snot plays it out till the pots deep, then snatch and run...every time"

"So let me get this straight, every friday night you play craps and every night he would wait until their was alot of money out there then grab it and run?"

"Yeah, we would beat his ass but he didnt deserve to get shot"

"So let me ask, if he would always grab the pot and run why did you let him keep playing?"

"Got to, this is America man"

I was going to ask you about Bud!

The Pacquio thing, the only reason that Crawford wants to fight him is its the only big money fight that there is for him. Crawford is one of the best boxers o.a.t. but he hasn't made nearly close to the money that historical boxers of his stature has because he has no high profile rivals, and he's wrecked everyone he's faced.

He would absolutely murder old man manny and manny knows that too, but he needs the money to get his face caved in. The fight will happen and it will almost assuredly be manny's last fight ever. They want to wait until fans are allowed back to sporting events on a large scale, so they can maximize the take, so the fight will happen next summer, maybe fall.

Bud's next actual fight that matters for something other than money will be late 2021, early 2022, against Errol Spence Jr., a former US Olympian.

Jones looked like he didn’t belong.

Tyson looked great (for an old ass dude), in shape, moved well etc.

Super lame they called it a draw

Everyone including Jones knew he lost. The post-fight interview was hilarious. Jones wants no part of a rematch.

Snoop was great. Legit fan geeking out during the fight. Hilarious, “this looks like uncle so and so at the bbq” lines

No opinion either way, but Lopez has become such a buttoned up corporate Hollywood robot, it was a funny visual.

Great fight by two absolutely shitty humans.

The perfect fight, don't have to feel bad about them getting concussions.

Forgot to post this the other day. Friend was playing poker at mgm and weigh-in shenanigans broke out.

Yessir :curse: I started to feel really bad for Spence, that fight should have been stopped long before it did. I really hope he doesn't exercise the rematch clause. It felt like bud was kind of taking it easy on him late so he would hurt the kid.

Omaha's having a big parade for him and I may take lil sd. not because he knows anything about boxing but just to say he was there and an opportunity to learn about Bud.

Apparently Crawford wants to fight the guy in the next higher weight class next. Would be pretty cool to get all those belts too.

Paid for a boxing match for the first time in a very long time tonight.  That said, I’ll only be happy if Diaz knocks Paul out.

I would normally be watching ufc. Last week I decided not to buy the ppv because Derrick Lewis has let me down recently. And then he had a classic DL fight.
