I've watched every snap of this game and my main takeaway is this:
Spencer Rattler is one ugly [redacted].

I was very impressed with the coaching job that Klieman and Co did last year, I have been equally unimpressed with their job this year.

Very frustrating that our guys have screwed up at nearly every pivotal (3rd or 4th down) moment on O or D.

I don’t think they’ve ever had a good alternate. Their regulars are very good, as is Rattler.

Coaching defense vs Riley must feel like playing Madden or NCAA vs a guy who know all of the glitch plays and exploits them perfectly.

@kashi1965 for the most part I thought the tackling and pursuit was pretty good on D. Some really bad non-effort penalties were killers. Also generally underperforming on 3rd down.
Tackling did seem to fall off a bit, especially with guys going high later in the half.

. Cats have crappy/young OL, a current dearth of good RBs, a bunch of WRs that are pretty quick, but not super great at catching, two pretty good pass catching TEs, and...
A QB whose pocket presence is better, but still not great, and a so-so at best deep ball and generally has a pretty weak arm tbh.
All signs point to swinging it around and getting quick quests ball in space, allowing TEs to use their frames on easily catchable balls, and QB sacrificing his body as a runner, all of which can help open up all the stuff Mess really wants to do.

Lots of rumblings that Warner is an absolute beast. Beebe is at OT out of pure necessity and will maul people when he can slide back in to guard where he belongs. Need 2/3 of Willis, Weiner, Mitchum to pan out at OT. In real good shape with another great OG prospect for ‘22 as well on top of Leingang this year. I don’t know if Duffie and Leveston are any good but Riley needs to get them serviceable in the meantime or the next two years are going to be rough.

Not sure if this has been covered but did it seem like Gus Johnson couldn't see what was going on on the field at times. No reaction on the blocked punt until about 5 full seconds after it happened and same on the final interception and a couple other times I think.

It’s been like that the last several games that he’s called. Like he’s just making up what he thinks is going to happen.

Was he actually there? Herbstreit is broadcasting from his house tonight because of contact tracing protocols. Pretty sure Mitch Holthus didn’t make the trip to LA last week either. Broadcasting from afar is unfortunately more and more common. Wouldn’t surprise me if Gus’ lacklusterness was because he was at home with no spotter or something. Did they ever actually show him in the booth? I missed the very beginning of the broadcast.

I’ve listened to a lot of OU football on the radio driving back from Manhattan. OU has to have by far the worst radio crew/production of a top end program.

That was pissing me off, very rough ridin' OU. Let another schools PA be shouting in the line like a rough ridin' idiot while the QB is in his cadence, they'd be threatening to go independent.
