I know we're wallowing in misery while laughing at KU and flood aggie but This Texas Tech game is shocking. They're up 2 late in the 4th against Houston Baptist. HBU is 18-56, all time, in the FCS. Tech was favored by 45.
-
where do i watch
-
ESPN+, Tech has a 3rd and 5, this is crazy
-
They'll probably hold on. I'm preemptively heartbroken for HBU.
But yeah, they're SO BAD historically. Didn't they serve as the patsies who gave Dana Dimel his one and only win to snap their losing streak?
-
It’s a shame no PAC after dark this year
-
Yeah. That's one of the saddest things for your ol' pal SB. Nothing better than folding your laundry and watching some PXIIAD, just smashing that refresh button to see if fatdamon thinks they're hot potatoes or just like room temperature spuds

Oklahoma State looks awful, having a backup QB can't be an excuse for looking this bad on offense. A fumble, interception, and 6 sacks allowed through 3 quarters is abhorrent.

I try go to at least 1 Tulsa game a year and try to become a fan of there’s. They’ve just been so inconsistent for years. My brother came over for the Friday night UCF game last year and it was a blast, but there were maybe 5,000 people there. They also have so many in conference games like this.
I’ll try to go to a couple games this year since I’m not going to Manhattan. They’re selling tickets to non-season ticket holders 4 days before the games.

LittreLL left his soul in Manhattan, KS.
The cycle of losing is starting again in Denton. Here we go....
Agreed... he probably should have just taken the KSU job. I don't think he'll get that kind of an offer again.

Ole Miss has a turnover money bag. Get an int, they give you a large burlap bag with a $ on the side as you walk off the field.

KeSean Carter for Tech is RIDICULOUS.
-
This UT at Tech game is a beautiful uniform pairing. Just gorgeous. Tech should only wear throwbacks.
-
Sup, UT?

Next week Vasher is absolutely going to brush our teeth with his dong

This crap again, huh? BTW he's had 11 total catches in 3 career games against us.
-
On that long Tech TD run, there were like seven Texas defenders tripping over each other and he just ran around them.
-
So three of the four teams that supposedly embarrassed the conference in week 1 have teabagged the conference in week 3, can KU make it 4 for 4?

Thanks guys I’ll keep my ear to the ground
-
Props to Pig Aggie, breaking a 20 game conference losing streak. They and Mississippi State, suuuuuuuuccccccckkkkkk. Deuce, Skylar, and Briley are better than any other offensive player for either team after Kylin Hill got hurt.
I can't believe Bo Pelini let KJ Costello pass for 600 yards.

This is fantastic. If I were Texas, I'd go get a hard nosed defensive coach who focuses on the fundamentals of player development and can rest assured that their wealth can lure a great X and O coordinator who wants to make a huge salary.

Charlie Strong
-
Charlie Strong had three losing seasons in a row at Texas. He went on to get fired from USF, after seemingly running it into the ground. He was not a good coach.
-
I'm pretty sure Texas is going to hire Urban Meyer.
-

To think that I defended him until he lost to KU and I lost my argument forever

He had such a good run at Louisville, I just wrote it off to UT being a cesspool of BMD making it hard to navigate. Failing again at USF is pretty damning though. Tom Herman is well on his way to getting fired at UT as well. Need someone like Mack that can thrive in it.
-
Urban will win big there just like he's won big everywhere he's been. If they hire anyone else, they deserve to lose.
-
I also assume that guy the Texans just canned would be on a list for Texas.
-
Urban will win big there just like he's won big everywhere he's been. If they hire anyone else, they deserve to lose.
He'll leave as soon as they put any kind of pressure on him, just like Florida and OSU.
-
Yeah, he'll win a couple of championships and then bolt. You'd be crazy to not take that over someone who will go a little under .500 and then get fired over the same time period.
-

Yup, which I kinda admire about him.
-
If he brought UT a title he’d have to go down as the GOAT, right?
Might as well put a subscript by the team names on his titles Meyer Football Inc.
-
I don't think there's a steady Fire Herman drumbeat among the 'horns faithful, yet. Where did y'all get that idea?
-
There will be a very loud fire Herman or fire Riley drumbeat after Saturday
-

Meyer has to be watching all these B12 games at the Fox studio licking his chops.
-
I bet KU beats Texas this year.
-

O'Brien, not a chance. He hates all of that schmoozing crap the UT coach has to do. He couldn't handle that stuff at Penn State where all you have to do is win a little, and they don't bother you at all. That dude hated college football.
-
I bet KU beats Texas this year.
I know we say this a lot, but this is the worst KU team we've ever seen. They lost their three best defensive players and what I think was their best running back and receiver off of last years team.
DYK that James Gilbert had the same YPC and twice as many rushing touchdowns than Pooka Williams had last season?
-
The Mizzou football game this weekend got moved from Baton Rouge, LA because of (Hurricane Delta).
The Ole Miss v Alabama game this weekend said kickoff time depends on the conditions going into the weekend.

Antbody watching the Red River Revelry? What a game as it looked like OU had won it late in the 4th, but no they're in OT. Texas just scored. It's OU's turn.
BTW, did anyone see the guy on the Texas side wearing KSU purple with a silver long horns on the front left side. :emawkid:

-
Anybody catch the end of the pig Aggie game? They got absolutely jobbed
They couldn't give pig aggie the fumble even if they did rule it a fumble because they didn't clearly recover the ball before the whistles. If they did that play becomes reviewable. What's crazy is one guy did have a chance to recover it cleanly but he screwed it up. The guy who actually got the ball got it way after the whistles.
-
What’s with the CFB announcers lately? Even Fowler and Herbstreit are borderline awful today.
-

Pig Aggie up by 1, auburn driving. Bo is going to spike it to set up for field goal. He bobbles the snap, but manages to recover it but then spikes it backwards. So if a spike is an incomplete pass when thrown forward, then If you throw it backwards it should be a lateral, which pig Aggie recovered. Refs didn’t see it that way, but called intentional grounding with an automatic 10 second runoff, still left auburn plenty of time to kick go ahead fg and then just left 10 less seconds on the clock to add insult to injury
-
What’s with the CFB announcers lately? Even Fowler and Herbstreit are borderline awful today.
It's not being in the booth, at the game, with their spotters and stat guys in the booth with them. The nerds who actually know the nuance of the game but don't have the look or polish to be on television. There is something to be said for watching a football game in person, from a good viewpoint, instead of limited to calling a game off of a television screen.

Arkansas could have declined the run off and they should have.
-
The runoff was ultimately just the cherry on top. I really don’t know how that ball was not ruled a backward lateral

Forgot Hebr and Fowler weren’t going to the games this year. Is this the case with all the national pbp? They sure did their best to make it look like Brando and Tillman were in Fort Worth.
But yeah, makes sense and is a valid excuse. Much easier to see what’s going on with that press box view.

It varies week to week, crew to crew. I know that Herbstreit and Fowler called their first game of the season together in person then Herbstreit pulled out of being in person for the next game the day before and I don't think he's been in person for the game or college gameday since. Joel and Gus have definitely been on site. I have no idea about Brando and Tillman, Brando seemed confused and grumpy the entire game.
-
I might be the only one, but I thought Mark Helfrich was great last week.
Also, Brando & Tillman we’re there. They showed a shot of them there with a clear barrier between them.

-
Brent Venables has to be the most talked about coach on Clemson by the announcers during games. There is no doubt his defense is the most DOD type around and would be great if our defense goes in that direction.
-
I guess I'd take a Clemson - esque defense.
-
it's too bad pelini has to wear a mask, you can't see all the gross stuff flying out of his mouth during a game anymore, sad
-
Bo Pelini getting his ass kicked will never get old.
-
right, but if you can't see his face turning red and looking like a complete lunatic, it's not AS fun

Big 10's positive test = automatic 21 day suspension is just ridiculous.

They're doing an extra 7 days for heart monitoring, good for them for considering player welfare.

Do they have a false positive loophole?

Last couple minutes of regulation for Penn State-Indiana was bonkers. Hoosiers turn the ball over on downs deep in their own territory. Penn State gets the ball back up 21-20 with like 1:45 left and on the 13 yard line or something. Obviously all they should care about is running time off the clock. Like they can pretty much run it all the way down by taking some knees since Indiana only has 1 TO left. But their running back goes into the end zone on the first play! After nearly stopping himself from going in too.
So now Indiana gets the ball back down 28-20 and of course they go all the way down and score and get a 2 pt conversion to tie the game 28-28. There's about 21 seconds left so it's almost certainly going to OT at this point right? RIGHT?!
But WAIT, Indiana's kicker inexplicably did some sort of weird squib kick that barely went anywhere so now Penn State has great field position. Their first play gets up to the 40 and they bring their kicker in to attempt a 57 yard FG which fell short by like one foot. Game is now in OT.
-
Update: Penn State got a TD on their first drive in OT, Indiana followed up with a TD and then immediately went for 2. Their QB ran for the pylon, dove and stretched the ball out.........called good and the play stands after a review. Indiana wins 36-35. I think the ball broke the plane though. It was so damn close there's no way they could have overturned it.
-
As we all know, you can't spell "I almost won" without Iowa State.

That game was awesome though, that two point conversion is the CFB play of the year so far. Penn State, one less Big 10 team I have to put in my top 25'

There's a very long and involved post on the basketball board about midwestern Duke t-shirt fans and gE'rs at the CBE in 2010. Also an encounter with Kyrie Irving before he became a weirdo, although in retrospect he was kinda being a weirdo then too.

I mean I don't know if it's worth it but you can definitely inflict some pain and it's not much different from punching a head

Generally you get your helmet slapped, to protect the slappers hand, any rusty is right it doesn't tickle and if they get that ear hole, your ears will ring. I imagine someone actually punching your helmet wouldn't hurt at all.

didn't notice that during the game but what i did notice was late in the game UT was driving and they throw a pass to the endzone and while the ball is in flight its just a lightswitch rave b/c the ribbon board is just doing its thing and i mean it wasn't one of those things where like when its sunny and then a cloud goes past the sun and you can't see anything b/c the camera takes a sec to adjust, like from every angle of the replay you can see the lights reflecting off helmets and its just like holy crap how can anyone focus on catching or throwing a pass when you have this happening?
I would think similar to how they aren't allowed to just blare kickstart my heart or crazy train on every 3rd down right up through the snap, you'd think the ribbon board which is basically at field level would have restrictions on checking for epilepsy in the middle of a play

Dabo just had a temper tantrum that should have earned him a 15 yard penalty, instead the referees picked up the flag on a game changing pass interference.
-
Wazzu has a true freshman qb starting tonight. His legs have saved him once or twice, but passing lookings really bad.

Look at this crap. You don't see dabo running on the field, the referee already ushered him back, but this is the flag that was picked up.

I didn't realize how much of a crybaby Dabo is. Dude just threw his battery pack of his headset because the officials had the audacity to review a touchdown.

#MACtion was peak lit tonight. Western Michigan down 10 points just over 2 minutes left. They drive the field and score a touchdown with around 45 seconds left. They miss the extra point, so they're down 4. Western kicks the onside kick and the kicker recovered it. They drive down to the 6 yard line with 15 seconds left and won on this play

Clemson/FSU cancelled because Clemson kept practicing with a symptomatic backup all week & then travelled with him to Tallahassee, who had a Friday test return positive this morning. How pissed would we all be at Klieman if a game got cancelled because he practiced/travelled a symptomatic player that had a couple false negatives during the week. Imagine putting a whole game at risk because you put all your stock on a couple potential false negatives for a backup.

I don't know, I think the coaches have to take a test result at face value. I don't blame them, actually.

I would agree if the player wasn't showing symptoms, but if he had a fever or loss of taste and still practiced that's pretty bad.
Regardless I'm sure these coaches can play dumb and blame medical staff. Plenty of people are willfully ignorant about covid.

Player was a symptomatic backup. I can’t imagine putting a game at risk by keeping a symptomatic backup around/traveling him with the team and putting all my faith in a test that has a history of showing negative early in the illness.
I think you have to value the players presenting symptoms way more than a test result. I get putting some stock in the test result, but Clemson has to have known they were putting the game at risk with another Friday test out there.

I don't think it matters, because pretty much any symptom is either covid exclusive or would indicate something like the flu. (I think it's also irresponsible to practice a player who might have the flu, FWIW)

It sure matters if it was loss of taste and smell, or some of more exotic symptoms of Covid. That would be pretty clear negligence. If it were cold-like symptoms (which is probable), then regardless of what we think, no coach or administration is going to get into trouble after the kid tests negative twice. In fact, it would seem something close to 49.2% of the country would blame the coach for NOT practicing/playing him, unfortunately.
-
OK, so he didn't actually practice while symptomatic. seems all good!
The player had gone home during Clemson’s off weekend last week and had not felt well. He took an antigen test at home and was negative. He returned to campus and was held out of practice on Monday. He felt better on Tuesday and was cleared to practice and tested negative for the virus on Wednesday. So while he showed some symptoms, they were not classic COVID-19 symptoms – loss of taste/smell or respiratory issues. They were more flu-like symptoms, which doctors waited to dissipate before clearing him to practice.

That minimum game rule is going to get waived because the average number of games played for all league teams will dip below 8 games.

Can this be a safe space to discuss Sarah Fuller? I understood the pre game hype, and thought it was merited. I was annoyed by the continued post game hype, as if what happened actually didn't happen. Vandy was so awful that she only got one kick and that kick was doo doo. I don't even think the doo doo kick was problematic, it seemed to be windy and I've seen worse kickoffs, but I can't get behind what happened yesterday being historic.

The media was trying to make this a Jackie Robinson event, as if there are hundreds of capable women who have been held out of division 1 football for decades. It was a publicity stunt and nothing more.

KSU rolling out a goalkeeper next week could very well calm some waters. :dunno:

Now I don't think it was a publicity stunt, they did lose all of the kickers to COVID and contact tracing. Honestly, I'm shocked this hasn't happened to more non Big 10 schools. You'd think that position group would be most susceptible to contact tracing.
-
Could be, I just assume there are 10 active players on their roster who kicked for their high school team because they were the best athlete
-
I’m somewhere in the middle. She was their sole PK, so if they got in scoring territory she was kicking. Also, Vandy doesn’t have men’s soccer, so I easily believe that a women’s player would have the best available leg on campus on a week’s notice.

It's good that a "first" is out of the way. The next time will be more normalized, and so on. That's a good thing.

Thing is that it wasn't much of a first, it kept being parsed with "in the power five." New Mexico is a major power 5 program, just as significant as Vandy if we're being honest. Gary Barnett's homegirl Kate Hnida actually kicked some extra points.

Yeah - that was the real "LOL" at all the hype, the "Power 5" qualifier. If Neuheisel would have remained Colorado another year, I think Hnida would have kicked in games - he recruited her to the team but left before her first season.

The last time I even thought of Gary Barnett was when I heard him probably a year or two ago on 810 with the slapdicks on the Border Patrol.
I guess he had a weekly segment on there or something. Kind of weird that he would have a spot on the radio in KC.
But whatever.

We didn't even talk about her coming into the lockerroom at halftime lecturing the players about not cheering for each other loudly enough. Now, let's remove gender from this, how lacking in awareness and humility do you need to have to be a place kicker, only with the team for 6 days, that decides you want to yell at these people who have spent a half of football running into people over an s over again. Not only that but the cameras showed her, clear as crap, talking to people in the crowd, during the game.

Don't get me started. ESPN was a circus with this story. Not to mention there's been D1 girl kickers before, who've actually made FG's, but 2020. I'd be pissed if I was some of those previous D1 girl kickers, seeing this girl get all the press, for a squib kick.

Honestly that might be even better. But then again, runner-up in the BIGXII CHMPNSHP game used to be a badge of honor. When we lost in 2000 to OU I forreal felt like we were still world beaters. Does it mean less now? I dunno! I'm currently a level 5.5! ....But does it? If it's Iowa State, then almost certainly yes.

Really? I didn't think we had a chance in the world going into that game and I was disgusted that it took them two seasons from being trash to passing us as the best program in the conference, and did it with our assistants. The Cotton Bowl was cool and all but we went into that season expecting a championship and didn't get it.

Nothing says fake season more than a team winning a conference championship while not even qualifying for the championship game.

And they said one of his play calls was genius!

Can we talk about Army accepting a bowl bid like a month ago, being 9-2, but not actually getting to play in a bowl. Apparently a couple of schools opted out of bowls when it appeared they didn't get the bowl bid they wanted.
Someone, KU?, needs to step up and play these dudes.

Alamo Bowl makes me think of the original Big 12.

This UT QB behind Ehlinger is special, they're going to be outrageous next year. Two Red River Showdowns for the B12.

Yeah. That dude is already giving me nightmares.

Didn’t you say a few weeks ago Texas has no heir apparent at QB and it had the fan base ready to fire Herman?
-
The fanbase IS ready to fire Herman. Texas should have won the BigXII this year. Instead, stupid play calling and mental mistakes cost them games.
They will definitely be better than us next year.

Yeah, why did you insist then and continue to now attribute those things to my thoughts? The discussion was about why Texas fans wanted Tom Herman fired. I told you more than once that those weren't my sentiments. You got mad at me for restating the fact that he landed fewer top Texas recruits with each class he's signed since at UT, as if that has anything to do with me.
The Big 12 beat writer and the OU beat writer for the athletic both thought he still wasn't 100% safe going into last night's game.
-
I could never get mad at you bro. Did Texas fans and their beat writer guy not realize how good Thompson was? I certainly had no idea, maybe he kind of snuck up on people with his performance.

I get so pissed when I don't see K-State on these lists. What in the ever loving eff did the last staff do with their time? It's malpractice that a 4 star QB from Oklahoma got offers from schools like Memphis, Iowa State, and SMU, West Virginia but not Kansas State.

i really like the style of football where an offense runs for 8 yards every play. it's much more aesthetically pleasing to me than the style where they pass for 0 yards twice and then 20 yards once.
(this is an army-wvu game comment).

looks like things at the miss st/tulsa game escalated quickly

Middling Big 12 team getting beat by a service academy: a tradition like no other

That was a highly watchable game. I was getting frustrated with WVUs defense until they locked down in the 4th quarter.

Casey Thompson was well known & talked about a lot in Oklahoma when he was being recruited & picked Texas. Maybe the forgot about him in the last couple years, but he was a rivals 250 recruit when he picked Texas.
There’s a TV/radio guy in OKC that went to OU in the 60s & has been covering OU since. They had a 50 year anniversary party for him at a bar, live on the radio during his afternoon show. Switzer got on the mic a few drinks in and started talking about what the coaches had told him around Thompson, Cameron Rising & some other QB recruits before they had signed anywhere. He was a known enough commodity tipsy Switzer was talking about him on the radio in the middle of the afternoon while he was still a recruit.

Ass-back is the worst. He was always trying to start / fan the flames of rumors that Snyder was leaving. First he was going to the Cardinals, and then to the Buccaneers. I think he had a weekly segment of his show where he would point out something that made him mad during the past week of college football. One week it was Snyder for calling a time out before the half of the 1998 Northern Illinois game so Gramatica could kick his 65 yard field goal. He said it was bush league, blah blah. He was totally butt hurt about Snyder. I called him up about about it to defend it and he hung up on me. Total clown show.

First time I visited there I thought that it was weird that there is a Wal-Mart where a Jerry's World parking lot should be then I discovered that's literally his Wal-Mart.

I like him a lot, I can't watch him without being furious about LHC Bill Snyder. Losing Breece Hall to Nathan Scheelhasse is the biggest recruiting black eye of in his 27 years at K-State, and there were a lot of black eyes.
Brock Purdy is Charlie Brewer if he didn't have Breece.

What would it take to get Scheelhasse in purple? 500k and call him the passing game coordinator or some crap like that?

The uniforms in the Orange Bowl are beautiful.
A&M in Maroon/White/White with just plain white jerseys/maroon number. No Adidas messing up the fonts/trim.
UNC in Blue/Blue/White with 90s style dark blue shading on the lower right of the numbers.
-
The biggest reason these teams don't look like crap is that Venables isn't coaching either.

No thanks. I mean me being pissed is that he hasn't seemingly done anything else that our current staff hasn't done. Hall went to Iowa State because they put the full court press on him while we did our usual slow play bullshit. I can't say I'm 100% certain the current staff would have landed him but I can say they at least would have given him something to think about.
