got a text from our cleaning person. she said she was raising her rates by $20. I was, like, wait we already pay that amount wtf. have we been paying too much? the old lady (wife) indicated that we tip her each time. so now I have to pay $20 more to assure she's still getting tipped each time.
:Ughhh:

Did not know cleaning services were part of a gratuity salary structure.
they are, but i usually only tip around holidays (thanksgiving, christmas) but usually those tips are sizable and make up for my non-regular day to day tipping her
i actually reached out to my cleaning lady lady last week when i was level 5'd and gave her a $10/mo raise to account for covid related additional expenses she's incurring, she was appreciative
it's a good idea to keep your cleaning lady happy imo
-
I gave my cleaning lady a $500 holiday bonus. :gocho: Come at my generosity, bros :comehere:
-
I obviously tip her around the holidays. she's getting tipped left and right and upside down. do agree with clams about keeping the cleaning person very happy.
-
My wife has a scented candle addiction.

Happy cleaning lady happy house
-
Canco keeping the cleaning lady happy.
Example: I am the cleaning lady of casa del siete and I'm not at all happy and nothing ever gets cleaned. Thinking about firing my ass.
-
Seems cleaning people that run their own thing should be like barbers running their own shop. If you tip one you tip the other.
-
I say if it makes you feel good, leaving a generous tip is a win win regardless of the context.
Although tbh sounds like SD is getting taken for a ride cause the cleaning person knows he can afford it.
-
I would like a cleaning lady. Where to find one? A service? Craigslist? How to find one that won't gank half your stuff? Going rates?

Ask people you know for a referral. Then, make sure you ask whether he/she has ganked half their stuff.

BAE also orders $1k+ worth of clothes or shoes or whatver from places and then tries it all on and sends back most of it. seems fine, right? WRONG, she actually doesn't send back most of it she leaves it in a pile somewhere and tells me she's sending it back and then a month later I have to figure out where it's from and send it back for her.
:don'tcare:

you know how when you get your haircut and they ask you if you need any product and you say no? my consort says yes 100% of the time and it's always something new and it then doesn't get used and it piles up in a gigantic hair product cabinet.
:Crying:
-
Need to buy a bigger house for all the piles of stuff
-
same on the cleaning lady tipping

I figured this was going to be a rant about essential oils or something.

not THAT infuriating.

i can't even remember the last time we didn't get an amazon delivery. it happens every day. if a day goes by that we don't receive an amazon package i get concerned that maybe the amazon delivery driver got into an accident, is what i'm saying. 0% idea what mrs BAC is buying but she makes :kstategrad: money so like, i guess its not infuriating maybe this needs to go to a different thread sorry SD for yucking it up go cats

I’ve discovered this is frequently for about 2 articles of clothing. Like, WTF, it isn’t a game worn, autographed Mahomes Jersey, how can it cost so much?

It's been many, many years since my wife's gone to her gym. I mentioned canceling the membership like two years ago. She was offended and certain she'd be wanting to use it again soon. I'm never bringing it up again.

Found out this year my wife has had a cafeteria account at work since Mid 2018. Hasn't been used. only $500 wasted nbd.
-
steve dave, you can regain control by giving the personal custodian another $20 raise. let your wife see how it feels.

Cancel it and don't tell her. Or, even better, report the credit card as lost, get a new credit card number, and never update the card on file with the gym. subscription cancelled.

Cars. That’s her biggest weakness. I don’t believe in over spending for something that gets me from point A to B. Especially during these times.

She prep cooks for the week for us to eat healthy and a lot of it goes to waste. Ugh, guys!

How far has she went?
-
About $150 more a month than I’d like for a car. She had a Tahoe and traded it in to “downsize” her car payment before the kiddo arrived, but it went down a weird rabbit hole where that didn’t happen. She traded it in for a newer car, shittier brand, and a higher payment and she hates it. Misses the old Tahoe. Lol

Unless you’re a millionaire, I don’t get over paying for a car.

Neither do I Wacky. As long as I have Bluetooth & AC, I’m good. My next car is going to be a base model Elantra that was a program car from Enterprise. Just waiting for my 2008 Corolla to breakdown to the point that it’s not worth fixing.

That’s fair. Ours have been sitting for awhile. It’s about a 15 minute commute to downtown where she works. It’s good for the baby tho.

I am annoyed by a couple things but I am definitely more annoyed at myself.
-
I will live in the cheapest shitholes available but I HAVE to have a nice comfortable car with billions of options
Home - low end of price range
Car - slightly over price range
-
I just want to travel at this stage in my life, but we’re working on baby 2, so we’re spending our fun $ on other things these days.

The period of time between baby #1 and baby #2 generally isn't the greatest time in your life to "travel" unless you want to get in a few last lap child trips.
-
Yeah, we know. I just wanted one last trip abroad. I get it, just wanted one more nw trip. Only place I never got to (Washington)

If a recipe calls for a teaspoon of something, she will buy a hogshead of it.

My wife and I had been married about 4 years when I found out that she had opted not to enroll in her company's 401k.

pro tip: there are mexican brands that put all sorts of spices in tiny plastic bags and they're grate for things like this. I didn't realize they had a bunch of regular old spices until I started doing grocery shopping online.

Elite measurement reference right there.

eff me with this. Usually I wait these fads out but this one is infuriating. Calling it snake oil has not helped the problem or the relationship
-
A cocaine habit would be cheaper than my wife's Rodan and Fields monthly delivery.

my wifes awesome and not really a spender.. but free crap :buh-bye: and keeping the silliest of crap and then I get to feel bad when I toss it out. you'd think she grew up during the great depression

My wife is very frugal, except when it comes to lotion, cream, balm, etc. She has one specific lotion only for elbows. Also one only for knees. How different can the skin be?

Neither of you should think that's a waste of money :th_twocents:

sd, imagine those infuriating money moves if your better half only made $0.00/yr

Katdaddy/pappy NO! Is my favorite running joke on this blog.

i'm now imaging a thread started by mrs. dave on some bizzaro board where she's, like, "my husband has $x of our money sitting in a brokerage account and has made 89 trades this month. should I divorce him before he bankrupts us?"
-
"my husband bought a mercedes GLS worth of bitcoin, should I divorce him?"

The running joke in the crypto community is once you’ve made a crap load of money you buy a lambo. Just for reference.

Did you use the strategy we discussed this morning?

sorta related, but I invested in a pretty decent stereo setup with a bluetooth connection and everyone in my family insists on listening to music on their shitty laptops and I'm like, "look, I'll make it so you just automatically connect to bluetooth on the good speakers" and they're like "nah"
infuriating

They’d use TF out of Sonos tho

This might be the best dad story ever told on this blog.

I mostly use a turntable but BT doesn't do as much damage to quality as the shitty Sonos speakers

Also, doesn't really matter if you're streaming Spotify or whatever
