Title: infuriating spousal money moves
Post by: steve dave on July 23, 2020, 12:09:40 PM
got a text from our cleaning person. she said she was raising her rates by $20. I was, like, wait we already pay that amount wtf. have we been paying too much? the old lady (wife) indicated that we tip her each time. so now I have to pay $20 more to assure she's still getting tipped each time.

 :Ughhh:

Did not know cleaning services were part of a gratuity salary structure.
they are, but i usually only tip around holidays (thanksgiving, christmas) but usually those tips are sizable and make up for my non-regular day to day tipping her
i actually reached out to my cleaning lady lady last week when i was level 5'd and gave her a $10/mo raise to account for covid related additional expenses she's incurring, she was appreciative
it's a good idea to keep your cleaning lady happy imo

I gave my cleaning lady a $500 holiday bonus. :gocho: Come at my generosity, bros :comehere:

I obviously tip her around the holidays. she's getting tipped left and right and upside down. do agree with clams about keeping the cleaning person very happy.

Canco keeping the cleaning lady happy.

Example: I am the cleaning lady of casa del siete and I'm not at all happy and nothing ever gets cleaned. Thinking about firing my ass.

Seems cleaning people that run their own thing should be like barbers running their own shop.  If you tip one you tip the other.

I say if it makes you feel good, leaving a generous tip is a win win regardless of the context.

Although tbh sounds like SD is getting taken for a ride cause the cleaning person knows he can afford it.

I would like a cleaning lady. Where to find one? A service? Craigslist? How to find one that won't gank half your stuff? Going rates?

Ask people you know for a referral. Then, make sure you ask whether he/she has ganked half their stuff.

BAE also orders $1k+ worth of clothes or shoes or whatver from places and then tries it all on and sends back most of it. seems fine, right? WRONG, she actually doesn't send back most of it she leaves it in a pile somewhere and tells me she's sending it back and then a month later I have to figure out where it's from and send it back for her.

you know how when you get your haircut and they ask you if you need any product and you say no? my consort says yes 100% of the time and it's always something new and it then doesn't get used and it piles up in a gigantic hair product cabinet.

Cancel it and don't tell her.  Or, even better, report the credit card as lost, get a new credit card number, and never update the card on file with the gym.  subscription cancelled.

About $150 more a month than I’d like for a car. She had a Tahoe and traded it in to “downsize” her car payment before the kiddo arrived, but it went down a weird rabbit hole where that didn’t happen. She traded it in for a newer car, shittier brand, and a higher payment and she hates it. Misses the old Tahoe. Lol

Neither do I Wacky. As long as I have Bluetooth & AC, I’m good. My next car is going to be a base model Elantra that was a program car from Enterprise. Just waiting for my 2008 Corolla to breakdown to the point that it’s not worth fixing.
