There is absolutely a difference between with what FSU does with Seminole Nation and this. FSU works with Seminole Nation to make sure that the things they do at their sporting events are consistent with Seminole traditions. Those blue basketball FSU wears, that's from the Seminole Nation partnership. Yes, this chiefs have partnered with some native tribes, however the chop is in no way part of the partnerships. This is the same for FSU, it hasn't been endorsed by Seminole Nation.
There have been other native groups that have asked Mark Donovan and Clark Hunt to end the chop.

The headdresses and "Tomahawk Chop" have been controversial for decades. Nobody is suggesting renaming the Chiefs. I still find it hilarious that the chop bothers ppl because Florida State came up with it first. Like, I get the chant would bother ppl in 2020, but some ppl on this blog act like it’s only ok if you came up with it first, even tho it started in 69/70 with the Chiefs. They have 50 years of doing it and reaching out to the culture of the name. I bet the wave is next.

Like, the AFC Championship game this year, down by 10, comeback happens and then Mahomes makes a once and a lifetime run to take the lead before half. Stadium goes nuts!!! The chop chant begins, goosebumps insue, ppl hug, high fives go around after 50 years of frustration and tears poor down. It’s just ingrained. It was beautiful. I’m turning 36 in two weeks. I hate change.
Also I really love the chop and while I'd accept it going away, I'd still miss it. Like Willie's pregame skits.

I'm with wacky on this one, 100% pro team chop and every time I hear 80,000 of my best buds do it in unison I get goosebumps.
My favorite chop time is when we make a big stop on third down and their punt team comes onto the field and the chop just starts building.....AND BUILDING, GETTING STRONG WITH EACH REPEAT.
Then when the ball is finally kicked there is a loud OHHH sound as the chant ends and then the whole stadium is silent on the edge of their seat as the ball sails through the air to our awesome punt return specialist (Tyreek/Dante Hall/Vanover/ etc).
You can take that away from me over my dead body.

When you are walking up the big circle ramp to your 300 level peasant seats about 15 minutes before a big game. The ramp is packed with people and then one guy who just pulled a 5th of jim beam out of his carharts will start the chop and next thing you know everyone else on the ramp and concourse is doing the chop, just getting JACKED UP with excitement to go yell their faces off at the opposing team. :excited: :excited: :excited:

The Seminole tribe hasn't endorsed the use of the chop but they haven't condemned it either. Even if they did endorse the use of the chop they still shouldn't do it, as it's a cartoonish depiction. There were native americans who didn't have a problem with the Washington Redskins but that didn't make the name less problematic.

That definitely is an unsubstantiated twitter rumor, the second part, his tribes traditional face paint, is the most pathetically hilarious thing I've read today. I've always thought it was strange that in this day and age we still use the word "Indians" as we now know it was used just because homeboy thought he was in India. Granted, Cleveland Native Americans doesn't have the same ring to it.
Somehow associating the tomahawk chop with Indians is less racist to me than associating it with native Americans.
