Back in the day when I was a kid, Rusty’s had a pretty dece burger and fries lunch combo for $1.01 as like a weekly promo with KRock or something. Used to get a cup of cheese on the side for fry dippage. Used to also give them a zany made-up name like “Keith” or “Bo Jackson” or something, so that whenever my food was ready they had to say that over the loudspeaker. I basically ran that place is what I’m saying. :gocho:
-
I used to love waiting 2.5 hours for Gumby’s delivery too. Had to make sure I ordered it at most a level 2 or it would just sit out overnight.
-
I used to eat at Aggie Station at least five times a week. Sometimes I'd get dinner there and get something to-go for fourth meal after I hit a level 7. Place went downhill once ERII started running the kitchen :D

No, are you confusing it with Taco Casa?

I was thinking there was a Taco Tico on Anderson where Chen's Chinese/Starbucks is now and a second across from the mall where that bank by Denny's is or somewhere around there.
-
Not sure I miss it, but Village Inn holds a bit of nostalgia for me.
-
I always liked the Wendy's across 3rd Street from Steel and Pipe and the lol old house that Steel and Pipe built their warehouse around.
-
Who's been to Vista lately? I saw it last December for the first time in ages and was like, "Holy crap, I can't believe that place is still open."

Hunam Chinese Restaurant and Mongolian BBQ in Westloop.

yes there absolutely was, it was not in the chen's location it was at the crest of that hill.
-
Once during lunch in high school, we were at the Taco Tico on Anderson eating our food and the manager came up and said, "you guys want ten tacos? Here." And handed over a bag with ten tacos in it.

I drive by it nearly daily since the construction on Manhattan Ave. Always has cars there.
-
I get Vista every time I'm in Manhattan, I love it
-
It's pretty mediocre fast food. I will say though that the breakfast is pretty good. Real eggs and such.

Oreo cyclone is fantastic. Way better than the competition.

Listen here, bub. I discovered la hacienda. Nary a soul on here knew about La Hacienda before I revealed its greatness to the masses. I also know that it fell off considerably and lost a lot of its charm when they ditched the grocery side and went all in on food. Same as Icarus, La Hacienda simply flew too close to the sun.

The chinese restaurant in the Green Tea spot. Golden Palace or something?
Also Green Tea in case it has closed down by now?

Wasn't there some kind of weird chicken wing only restaurant over there?
-
Cozy Inn, I was a cozy inn lover. The MHK exclusive cozy chips were super dope. After they cut the chips it was over for them.

Aggieville hunan express for before or after daylight donuts

mini's? what was the stupid 50s style place at the end of Moro?
I also liked daylight when you could get a jalapeno hotdog in a blanket.

Is the Chilis by the mall still there? If not, Chilis.

Yeah it’s still thriving

Did anyone ever miss Kirby's? I only barely remember it. I remember a mom and pop version of a buffet that old people love/Cracker Barrel.

Man.. great call. as a kid I would get this bubble gum ice cream they had.. I've never seen it anywhere else and I'm sure as adult it'd be awful but I'd love to try it again.
Gumby's home of the Big Ass
The $2 lunch special aka BIG ASS slice of pizza and pop was something we'd get at least twice a week for lunch in high school

You guys remember pabst?
wasn't it pat's? and yes

Yes, my bad.

PBR was decent, but even hitting up the "Oldest Continually Running Pizza Hut" on Sunday's for buffet was pretty elite.
Old Hibatchi Hut was great

Who's been to Vista lately? I saw it last December for the first time in ages and was like, "Holy crap, I can't believe that place is still open."
There used to be a Vista in Aggieville back in the 70's and that is where my dad proposed to my mom :Wha:

Pat's was the first place I ever tried sweet potato fries. I'm forever grateful for that.
-
$2 pitchers at Pat’s were bad news fun times. Pretty sure I danced on a table there to Muzizi one Halloween when I was dressed as “Tim ‘The Toolman’ Taylor In That One Episode Where He Got His Foot Stuck In A 5-Gallon Cement Bucket.”

Did anyone ever miss Kirby's? I only barely remember it. I remember a mom and pop version of a buffet that old people love/Cracker Barrel.
Was this place out on highway 24? The answer is yes, if so.
-
Is male genitals and Bull still there? If not, male genitals and Bull.
-
So when PBR closed why didn’t Tanners create a rooftop bar? You guys remember Rusty’s?
-
Yes I enjoyed Pat's.
Is HuHot still in the mall? I loved that place.

Taco Hut obvs
obvs and also obvs was how good their ice was

Yep. Kirby retired and his daughter didn't want to stay in the restaurant business, so she turned it into a furniture store.
-

Yes. They sell frozen pizzas now.
-
So when PBR closed why didn’t Tanners create a rooftop bar? You guys remember Rusty’s?
A reno to add that on such an old building would have probably cost them significant $$$ and they were already putting a ton of money into it. Auntie Mae's looked into adding a rooftop decades ago and it would have cost well into six figures.

Huh? They also didn't take on the hundreds of thousands of dollars of debt that they would have had to so we have no idea whether it would have paid off or not

Bathrooms are gross, bartenders are rude, service is slow even though there were only 3 people at one table and 4 at the bar that's it. My wife waited 15 min for the bartender to come to us to order a beer and a cocktail. The only 2 times I've been in there my wife and I have had a very negative experience with burnt pizza and bad service and my wifes drink wasn't good. My beer was half frozen.

When I walked in, there was a foul odor. We asked the bartender if she'd turn on the exhaust fan to take away the smell. The other bartender told us that the owner said not to turn it on. We asked again and the bartender turned it on for us. It helped a little but not much. The owner obviously needs to do some cleaning.

I rolled in there once with Dr. Spaceman and like five other friends (co-ed mix) and some rough and tumble biker at the bar slowly looks over at us and says, “Well well well, if it isn’t The Partridge Family.” And then he slowly turned back to his beer.
Then a little bit later his friend walked by and heard me say I had to pee, and without breaking stride he said, “The ladies’ room is that way.” It was IRL PI’ing from the locals at the male genitals ‘n’ Bull Pub. :frown:

Shame on you for not rightfully starting a bar fight right then and there.

I had a group of friends that would go to Village Inn late night after drinking. I had another group of friends that would go to Bob's. If you saw separate pics of these two groups, you could easily identify which was which.

I miss that Aggieville Hardee’s. SB Dad used to coach City League hoops, and more than once he went to that Hardee’s and got a shitload of Big 8 basketballs to give to each player at the end of the season. Probably 3 or 4 years. I hooped it up with a hardee’s ball (and Pizza Hut’s The Ball as well) quite a bit back in the day.
-
Pizza Hut basketballs were elite AF.

john's creamery and video was an incredible biz. right next to Ben Franklin's crafts and the hardware store and some computer store libertarian that had a flyer on the front door offering some reward for someone successfully arguing that the drug war was a net positive to him.

Aggieville Hardees that had delivery
This arguably did more to get me back healthy in times of need during college than any purported medical provider.

Lair Gauche?

Maybe!
-
Lair Gauche was an incredible combo-biz as well. SB Dad SWEARS by it. They fixed computers AND they sold used CDs. (Apparently they also give you stuff if you successfully argue about the drug war?) And I think maybe they sold futons, too?
This thread is also now dedicated to weird MHK (or MHK area) combo-bizzes. So besides Lair Gauche and John's Ice Cream and Video, what other weird combo-bizzes can you think of? Only one that springs to mind at the moment is Ogden's Get-It-On Video/TV repair shop.

This made me irl lol. I'll be goddamned if I didn't go there after every Aggie Station weekend shift during it's ~4 month stint.

I can not imagine a world in which Hardee's had continued to deliver until today and I don't weight 300+lbs.

Wasn't that lair gauche place on the other side of the alley, it was connected to Ballards?
"Major league quality at minor league prices, ohhhhhh oh oh, Ballard's"
John's Creamery was connected to Pyramid Pizza, right? I know John's became O'Malley's Alley.

I’m pretty sure Lair Gauche started in Aggieville but eventually moved out to Westloop.
