How many people even have access to that area? Seems like it has to be a fellow NASbro?

They were only letting 3% of capacity sit in the grand stands, and no spectators in the garage area.

Sounds like parody, but also complete lack of self awareness is on brand MAGA. So tough call.

I've never said % doesn't matter, Phil. Just because you and Super Slow Dug choose to get all :curse: :curse: because not only is your state a CDC RED, but you've simply just go more (and the trend line on a % basis is, explosive, to say the least).

I think the likelihood that this is a Jussie Smollett-type hoax is pretty small. The guy just successfully got the traitor flag banned at all nascar events. To then go and fake something like this would be so weird.

I guess that is was the best case scenario? No hate crime and not planted. A little unsure why NASCAR didn't realize it was a pull rope for a door sooner but i can understand things get rushed in these situations.
-
All the garage doors have pull ropes and cables that were installed when they re-did the Garage area is what they're saying on local sports talk radio.
Just the race cars alone are a 100K each, plus tens of thousands of dollars worth of tools and electronics. They've got cameras.

I'm just going by what they said on the radio Angry Phil (AP). Albeit I do know they've redone the garage because people can buy passes and hang out down there and get booze drinks and stuff. When they allow spectators.
Sorry it wasn't a real noose, AP. :frown:
-
The race team that had the garage last year said they had it up last year. Someone on twitter had a picture of that team’s car in front of the garage with the garage number of the garage next to it visible, so it all ties out. In the picture the rope is hanging in the door frame. Picture could be edited, but if it’s not I don’t know how someone didn’t say “that’s for the door” before it blew up.
-
Great now some necks in the south are going to be buying noose garage stall accessories
-
Even the shithole I lived right out of school had a handle on its manual garage door.
-
Really need a garage door thread

I think it's weird that someone thought to fashion a door pull into a noose and then no one said anything for months. Like, doesn't that say more about nascar culture than some rando racist targeting Wallace?
-
Also it could have totally just been a rope with a loop and someone overreacted
-

Not that I don't agree with you. That wasn't my point as I'm sure you realize. It's unfortunate on both sides.

Dax, what do you mean when you say this? Do you think there are zip codes I should be restricted to? If you want me to live with my own kind just say so instead of playing this sad trope over and over again. Pretty telling that you're assuming that there are little to no colored folks in my little suburban enclave. We don't all live in the hood.

The racists on twitter are posting a lot of these thinking it proves their point. Never mind the fact that it is most definitely a noose, Bubba didn't find it, and nascar and the local authorities thought enough of it to turn it over to the FBI. Anyone calling this a hoax or calling this man Bubba Smollet is 100% a straight up racist, and to no surprise this rounds up a lot of MAGA blue check marks on twitter.

Yes, race restrictive zip codes. That’s what I’m talking about. Brilliance.
-
Once the noose was found, this is the best case scenario, right? Wallace didn't plant it or make it up, and wasn't the one to overreact to it; no one targeted Wallace's garage with a noose.
Maybe there is a scenario where some redneck thought it would be funny 7 months ago to tie the garage rope into a noose, and maybe that guy is a racist and did it with racist intent, but that seems pretty minor and like a pretty big leap.

Best case scenario, yes, although it does need to be explored as to why at some point in NASCAR history someone decided a noose was the best way to fashion these door handles. My previous work life had me exposed to lots of ropes and knots, I've never seen a noose.

I've been in some bigger garages (body shops) and have seen this before. but it wasn't even like it was tied that way it was more like a tow strap where it was manufactured that way

Tell us what you mean when you mock me for living in a suburb, dax. Plain talk, I know you won't, but I'm sure the attempt will be hilarious.

No I don't know, but if it's going to lead where I think it's going to lead, weird, and not a good look on a corp PC.
I know you have trouble following along, but in that regard I "mock" all the resident useful idiots in the Cracker Belt (which BTW are states).
But in your stupid little head, you think it's about the zip code that you live in and somehow related to how I don't think you can (or can't) live there.

Now, it's super weird that you're taking this angle considering all the BS that you spew forth on here, but while it's weird, it's not the least bit surprising. It's just BAU.
Relative to the Cracker Belt, you clearly just haven't been paying attention. That's your problem.

Really makes you wonder why someone might have thought this was some sort of threat.

Has it been discussed that according to NASCAR the garage stall that Bubba Wallace was in was the only one at the track that had a pull rope tied into a noose?

Of course the racists are still acting like Bubba and NASCAR created a false report.

Security cameras? NASCAR won’t say. 10 million dollars in gear for a sport where millions can be won or lost on cheating and sabotage.
No security cameras, apparently.

I doubt they keep the recording for 8 months dax

Weird way to tie a garage door rope.
Really is, there are a tons of knots that take way less time and do what you need to do better than what a noose does and what a noose is for
-
Fwiw, about 15 years ago on a job site in Topeka rough ridin' Kansas a dude tied a pull rope into a noose ("as a joke") and management found it that day and the dude was fired so yeah, nascar obviously didn't care about this at all until by chance the black guy got that garage.

What would looking at the cameras solve exactly?.
-
I did a pretty lengthy investigation on knot types. I assume a knot was needed so the rope 1) would not come untied and 2) be able to easily pull the door down.
Below is a diagram of a bunch knot types that I found during my investigation. SO many options a person has to tie a rope.
I'm sure the knot that was chosen for the rope in the garage was just circumstantial and meant nothing other than its intended purpose of pulling down a garage door.

BTW. Thanks to a crazy thing called “The Cloud” you archive decades worth of security video now. Before anyone says it, there’s already Alabama law enforcement agencies backing up mountains of body cam footage in the cloud. Due to records laws, saving for years. So the technology exists to back up security footage for huge periods of time.

No one said it isn't possible to do, weirdo

Do you ever answer a rough ridin' question? No one is accused of committing a crime, so why do they need to look at any cameras? They know who had the garage in October, it isn't hard to ask that team some questions if they need to.

LOL, you don't answer questions either.
How can you accuse anyone of committing a crime if you don't know who to accuse? That's not a standard knot anyone ties, so maybe attempt to find out why someone tied that knot???

What crime do you believe has taken place dax?

Dax, I answer questions, I didn't explain one joke to you that you knew exactly what I meant, if you didn't I don't think it's that difficult to find blacked.com.
As far as the rope goes, they know who last used the stall, they have said that they know who was last in the stall. They don't need cameras for that, and I'm 100% certain they've talked to the team that had that stall last fall. The people in that garage aren't going to say "I tied that rope pull into a noose because I knew a n-word would see it."
I do think that it's beyond suspicious that is literally the only pull rope on the entire circuit that was tied like that. It's funny that when NASCAR made their announcement about this on Sunday night MAGA acted like all of these pull ropes are tied like nooses, nope just one.

What crime do you believe has taken place dax?
"Attempt to find out why someone tied that knot"
Then determine if you need to accuse/charge them with a crime.

There isn't a crime unless they intended a specific person to see it, that pretty clearly isn't the case here.

Oh, you were just joking, that's not accepted around here, in case you hadn't noticed.
It's just amazing sometimes. You literally have to stand there for an extended period and fashion a knot like that, cameras would have caught all of it. This is really not (pun not intended) difficult to understand.
-

You dipshits are literally on here defending someone for standing there and tying a hangman's noose on a rope in the middle of a garage that houses millions of dollars of gear at various times of the year in a sport that's worth billions of dollars collectively. Why does someone do that?

Man, did you actually read my previous post that you actually responded to? I think that it's very possible that the person who tied that rope knew that they tied it as a noose. I do think there is some level of intent there, that still isn't a crime. Joe Smith, engine builder for the 41 team can walk into the NASCAR offices in Daytona and say "yeah, I tied it and I wanted it to look like a noose." That still isn't a crime. That's why the FBI investigation was wrapped up so quickly. Once they had photographic evidence that it wasn't left for Bubba Wallace to see, there was no crime.
I'm really struggling to understand your angle here.

The only angle is determining what motivates someone to tie a hangman's noose. This isn't a group of dipshits out camping in the holler on a deer hunt.
Camera footage . . . hey uh dude, why did you stand there for 10 minutes fashioning a hangman's noose on a rope in the middle of a garage (that's now like $15 million dollar facility after all the renovations). That's not SOP

Look at me defending some guy tying a noose
I think it's weird that someone thought to fashion a door pull into a noose and then no one said anything for months. Like, doesn't that say more about nascar culture than some rando racist targeting Wallace?

Again dax, there's no need to scan a camera footage to know who did it. They know what team put it there. If the guy wants to tell them his reasoning was anything than "I thought that was the best knot for the door," he's had the chance to tell them that. The camera won't show intent.

Regardless of whether a law was broken, NASCAR absolutely figure out who tied the noose, and at the very least firmly reprimand and shame whoever is responsible publicly. Ideally, someone would be suspended.

Nope, not according to the "I've got to be the opposite of Dax" crowd.

They know, lots of people know. They're not going to shame or suspend anyone, nor should they. I hope the entire team, driver included though feels real shitty, because that rope sat like that in that garage for days with people going in and out.

I once made a noose out of toilet paper to use on my daughter’s Elf on a Shelf. My wife saw me attaching it to the living room ceiling fan and made me throw it away.

Meh, I just saw one of those Top Gear type shows and they were talking about how much Indy, F1 and NASCAR cars cost. NASCAR avg in the low $100k’s per unit.

F1 cars are ridiculously expensive and the racing is so dull.
