Title: Bidet talk
Post by: nicname on April 09, 2020, 11:47:02 AM
I know MIR mentioned owning a bidet in one of the 'rona threads, but as a (as of early March) bidet owner myself I can't oversell how great these things are, and thought they deserved their own thread.

This is the one at my house...

It's called the Lux Bidet Neo 320 (like $90 at Amazon). It's wonderful. Imagine every crap you take turns into a one wipe special? Yep, that's life with a quality bidet. Mine has a dial where you can adjust the heat on it or whatever, but it's not really necessary and tap temp water is fine by me.

One of the best parts is that it's not clunky and aside from the control panel you can barely even tell it's there on the toilet. See pic below...

The nozzle on mine (shown here, not actually mine tho) is retractable and goes back up into the housing after use.

I def recommend purchasing a quality bidet. Your life experience undoubtedly will improve many times over.

Mine also has different settings so lady gEs can experience easy clean up (Katdaddy, NO!) after going no. 1 as well.

One last fun thing. These things shoot far! Mine lands about halfway up the shower wall in our bathroom about 6 feet away!

POST ITT any bidet questions and comment here when you purchase your own bidet.

Will order.

Was playing an online trivia with some homies and one of the questions is what % of population (assume global) had used a bidet?  I said something like 80 and it was 20. I assume the question was just shitty and it meant who actually used one daily or had one versus have had water blown up their butt at least once.

I loved the Japanese toilet experience when I was there a few months ago.  I strongly encourage the heated air dry and heated seat but those will bump you from a $100 bidet to $500 or so.

You won't be disappointed dug, but don't trust me, trust the 4.5/5 star amazon rating (4,500+ reviews).

Your toilet has a hot water line? Or is this more substantial plumbing involved?

No. Had to run hot water from the sink line. Product came with a hot water hose for connection. Had to drill small hole in sink cabinet. Might be slight problem for people w really big bathrooms and sink far from toilet.

I couldn’t do that. Show me the best version without that hot water feature that would save a few bucks.

Can confirm. Also, I usually use four sheets of tp folded for a quick one-wipe dry.

BUT

one of my seat heaters broke down, so they are going to have to replace it SO i am going to try to talk the agent into replacing it with a full blown washlet.

How hard are these to install?

If you get one that doesn't require a hot water line, it's incredibly easy, like a 10 minute install and I don't know crap about plumbing. You simply remove the seat, and then put the bidet on under it and then put the seat back. The bidet will come with longer seat bolts. Then you turn off the water, unhook the line, install a t that will allow you to put the bidet water line with the toilet water line. That's it. They sell ones with electrical, but I don't think that's for beginners.

If you're buying one, Amazon and the big box stores have very limited supply. There are a ton of them on eBay though at great prices. I just got one for my new house on eBay.

i havent noticed this.

I've had mine for 6 years, the pee thing is real, so real in fact that when I move this week my old one is staying here. I got mine before they all came with the self cleaning feature, maybe this makes them not smell as badly. Also worth noting that the model I have on my bowl now doesn't fit just quite right and it doesn't retract back when I'm not using it. I think when I get my new one, I'm going to glove up once a year and take it off for deep cleaning of it and the bowl.

Any one that attaches to the seat and only has cold water, most commercially available are like this. You can also just get one with hot water and not attach the line, again, lots on eBay, should cost around $50.

When I first graduated from K-State, I got assigned to  Paris.  The company apartment had a bidet, which seemed mysterious, until one of the ladies at work explained how common it was.  She ended up fixing me up with a beautiful French girl.  Came to find out that most French consider you low class / low hygiene if you don't use a bidet.

From my experience in Japan, the drying makes all the difference to me.  It's probably only a minor TP savings over a non-drying bidet but I don't particularly enjoy having/wiping a wet butt.

question for those of you who have the hot water connection...i mean...i dunno about you guys but in my house we only have 1 water heater and unless you were just recently using the hot water it usually takes a minute to drain down and the hot water to get there. Not tryna be nancy neg over here just seems like unless you turn on the hot water at the sink before you take a seat, you probably won't be getting much benefit from that hot water connection?

They both get your ass moist, one you have to reach in the toilet to do, the other you don't. Also plumbers lose their crap over flushable wipes. Apparently it takes them very long to biodegrade.

They totally wreck your septic system if you have one.  Also, municipalities absolutely hate them in their system.  The wipes and other "flushables" are typically separated at the treatment plant and end up in the landfill.

i use one but it doesn't reliably get everything clean. my place has a hose attachment thing. what i like about it is when i have a poop that's hard to squeeze out, if you angle it right, relax your sphincter and shoot some inside, it helps get more out.

i think lotion on toilet paper works better than flushable wipes. makes the TP not break and you can get in deeper. also not as harsh.

it just somehow doesn't turn tp into dust like water. to get it off, well first off you get what you can a few times dry, otherwise you're spreading around truffle butter. think of it as polishing the job. this is just normal poops, for the messy ones, i think you gotta utilize water. or shower after heh.

since we're already past tmi, what about public toilets? spit?

Building mandated we change out toilet supply lines so that was the motivation to order a 185 and do both in one project.  Should be during this upcoming week.

I ordered it yesterday, was surprised to see it'd be delivered Sunday, and it showed up this morning.  It's actually the lines I need for the building mandate that are the hang-up.

I blew it on timing though; it was on sale at best buy for $50 but they're sold out now.

This monster is supposed to only be $200 at costco next month but there's no way for me to run electric to where it'd be.

I might have to reup my costco for that deal.

Getting an outlet installed today for my bidet and then I will install.  Tonight I poop like a king.

The knobs and nozzles on these 185s are great, but the relatively thick body of this thing is rough ridin' up my toilet seat. I've snapped 4 seat bolts in 2 months because the seat sits so much higher than the bowl. I think I'm going to have to buy new seats, offsetting the low price of these things.

I got a bidet bottle and it's much better than I anticipated.

our suite in kauai had one of these in both bathrooms and, folks, I was immediately sold (not my pic, just same model I found online). wall unit with controls for water temp, direction, seat heating, the works.

got one arriving today to be installed in my master. I'm enraged that my water closet has no electricity or hot water feeds and it's all the way across the room from the sinks so no way to get it there without a lot of work. so I'm just cold water and non-warmed toilet seating it for now.

Oh man. We've had a bidet for a while and I was so happy when we checked in to our room and saw that. Made the vacation even more enjoyable.

The little nozzle at the back is the piece that blasts water up your b-hole

I'm going to graduate to a full seat. You can buy a full on smart toilet for under a thou. I'll be getting one when I'm ready to hire someone to install it.

Just a thought, if you don’t wipe first before the b-hole blast (for a particularly messy crap), isn’t that just going to spread crap water around your butt? It must be essential to first wipe 80% clean.

Only if you either 1. Stand up before you clean yourself and or 2. Have a substandard bidet.

There is a little bit of splashing droplets on the cheeks, but you're wiping your bad person anyway so just start with the cheeks.

Once you start using a bidet, you absolutely notice how much cleaner your hole is and have a hard time dry wiping.
