Only like 5% of my company is able (currently) to work from home, so I'm interested to see if they set up anything to get more people out. My position definitely could, but it's not set up. 3/4 of my company are shop/factory workers with zero options.

My company has mandatory WFH tomorrow, they're calling it a "test".
I told my reports to wfh today and tomorrow because there's really no reason to be in the office and we wfh pretty regularly already

I setup remote access on my computer and when I tried it on my laptop it said I wasn't authorized to use remote access and I think I'm just going to download the important files and go from there because I don't want to ask about access.
Also, I bought six cans of chili beans and a half gallon of Jack Daniels Tuesday night. I'll probably do the same tomorrow night too. Pulled some cash too.

I've got some news on this point. I irl went to Costco this morning and it was like Mad Max Fury Road of old retirees stocking up so they don't die. What did I get? Well, for starters, a case of Truly, 3 giant jugs of Ketel One, a case of mrs. dave's most primo fav cabernet, and a bunch of other regular food things my kids crave.

I got a thing of Svedka yesterday and found an amazing deal on Estancia boxed wines (originally $39.99 and on sale for $19.99) and got two of those and then a sixer of boulevard, but if I’m boxed up in this house more than I already am for the next few weeks, that crap might be gone by Saturday! :ohno:

Yeah I get it’s not an ideal scenario. Neither is taking products off the shelves when higher risk demographics might actually want to completely distance themselves for a while.

I think the reason some may be stocking up on non-perishables is because much of our economy has become Just-In-Time manufacturing and Reduced Inventory. If 1/3 of Americans become sick, and another 1/3+ are working from home, laid off, furloughed, etc. that doesn't leave very many people to make/compile the resources, deliver the products, stock the shelves, and manage the money/security. Also, if the utilities experience issues who will be there to make sure they get fixed and are running smoothly again? Lastly, are you really going to want to go out and about while this is happening?
An argument can be made that if they're wrong it's no big deal; just some more non-perishables that they won't have to buy for months. However, if they're right....
We don't really know how bad this can get. Transmission is exponential. It could be slow for awhile and then explode. It's really only been a few weeks that cities have been shut down. People will start to get pretty restless when they run out of food, and then they'll be out and about, spreading it again.
I think it will be less of a disaster then some predict, but getting prepared is probably sound advice.

All the mandates to stay home are purely to slow the spread of the virus so the peak is not as steep and the healthcare system is not overwhelmed. It’s not because they’re worried their employees are going to die. I think some people (even if they are infected) will always be able to carry out the essential functions like supplying power and water.
This thing might run throughout the entire globe and kill millions (maybe even tens of millions!) before it’s all done. But even then life would mostly return to normal relatively quickly for everyone else.

I wore a robe while I did almost no work this morning. Went out for a jog over lunch. Passed a couple walking down the street six feet apart. As I approached, they veered over so that they were six feet from me while maintaining the six foot distance between them. I then took a shower and put on the same jeans and swestshirt I wore yesterday.

Bud I haven't run this frequently in a long time. Like 5 out of the last 6 days. Feels great. Woke up and churned out 5 miles on the levee. Goal is to come back from this 'rona vacation as thin and jacked as people who disappear to prison for like 2 years and do nothing on the inside but lift weights.

Honestly, not a huge deal for the hotels. A number of hotels are shutting their doors due to basically 0 business. A lot of hotels aren't covering fixed costs right now. Tourists aren't happening and the only business is like 10 companies and the gov.

Boss said we can work from home through April 3rd. My direct supervisor talked about how dangerous the virus was and that we were free to work from home but wants anyone who does to fill out a bunch of paperwork. I'm going to wait them out because I took Thursday and Friday off, and I think we're going to close temporarily or everyone is going to be told to work from home soon anyways.

Not just hotels. Also included short-term rentals and campgrounds. And this week Moab has been just as crowded as always. My neighbors (both MDs so I don’t know what they were thinking) were packed up and backing out of the driveway to head down there when this came out.

They now make them that essentially look like that. I thought about replacing mine with one of those. The drawback of getting the ones like I have, essentially an add on to the interior of the bowl, is that they are impossible to properly clean and makes the bathroom smell like piss. The problem with the hose attachment is that I don't want to be reaching in the toilet to spray myself.

One of my neighbors is 2 late 20's girls. One of them has had two Skype dates in the last week or so. I know this because she sits on their front porch and talks extra loud like everyone does on Skype and it's maybe 20 feet away from my couch window. It's like two hours of them talking about times they got drunk, very adorable.
