I’ve seen some hits and misses from the ol’ Bee, but that’s probably the most nonsensical and least funny I’ve witnessed.

I don't think babylon bee could quite bring themselves to that

I used to enjoy the Bee when they ran articles like this:

Current owners of the Babylon Bee are racist morons and totally ignorant about the Black church.

Holy rough ridin' racist.
The veggie tales guy is unflinching, it's pretty outstanding. None of the people responding to him will answer his simple question, they're all replying with indignation but not actually answering the question.

JB: There is no "black" or "white" church, just one true church made of people who hold the same theological positions as me.
Also JB: Here are some examples I found on an internet search of how bad the Black church is and why Black people need to come back to white churches now that people from white churches are not blowing up Black kids while they attend Sunday School.

This comment made me curious, and it really is incredible when he turns to “but hey since we’re talking about the black church” and calls out the “prosperity gospel” as being a particular problem in black churches when like 90% of people associate that term with a single decidedly white face.
-
It is also such a bizarre thing to on the one hand acknowledge that the black church was excluded from the white church due to racism but then to say there are all these problems with the black church and “oh I wouldn’t even use that framing because we shouldn’t talk about this along racial lines”

Plus, he unironically wants the church (not most black churches, though) to control the government.

The funniest Bee stories are the non-political ones. But those don't go viral or get fact checked by snopes.

I like the cover page that begs for money so they can prevail against Big Tech, the liberal media, and anyone else who tries to take them down. Plus, if you subscribe, you get a free book from them on wokeness.

It's really just a shot at the lactose intolerant. They don't give a crap if you eat soy products, but they care deeply if you don't drink milk that came from a cow.

I like actually know transgender people and they won't lose their minds if your misgender them inadvertently. They understand that it happens.
The difference between a trans person and the owner of Babylon bee is the trans person definitely won't get upset if a cis woman is in a candy bar ad.

Yet transgender individuals and their advocates are pleased to attack cisgendered women if they don’t want biological males in their dressing rooms and they really don’t want them in there when minor cisgendered females are in those private areas.
Ratchet that up to 7/7 if a cisgendered athlete says she doesn’t want to compete against a dude.
Your anecdotal “I know” story is not valid.

Seemed like a pretty straight forward question. But it's a total waste of time to ask you even the simplest of questions.

The story I'm referencing is not anecdotal you perpetually giant derp. It was discussed on this very blog.
I constantly   at the mental theatrics of a movement that once upon a time was all about women's rights, that now picks and chooses when it wants to prop up cis-gendered women and when it wants to virtue signal and thus it tells cis-gendered women to just sit down and STFU.

There's been multiple cases, but I'm thinking first of the one in California when cis-gendered women complained about the presence of a biological man in their dressing room at a community center, and the cis-gendered woman/women's concern that they were minor children in that dressing room changing in and out of the bathing suits at the same time. When they tried to voice their concerns and tried to tell their side of the story they were physically attacked and/or basically told to STFU
-
And that biological man's name? Albert Einstein.
-
Again, it takes a special sauce to have been a part of a movement that at least talked about propping up women a lot, that now regularly tells cis-gendered women to STFU, sit down, suck it up and your concerns are not valid.

They might be doing it because it's a good business decision to be inclusive. :dunno:
I didn't realize until I watched it but it's specifically a Hershey's Canada ad, might not be good business to be so inclusive in the US. :frown:
You'd think if they were just doing it for clicks it would be a mainstream US thing.

Why are you dismissive of the possibility that they believe in inclusion, think it's a good business decision, and believe erasure is wrong? Saying they, or anyone else who is corporate and who truly believes in inclusion, have the same motives as Ben Shapiro, is awfully bleak.

It's pretty simple dax, and I know you get it. I can love women, I can love black folks, but being a woman or black, or a black woman, or a multi-racial nonbinary pansexual isn't shelter from being a bigot. If anyone is being a bigot, they should, always and forever be told to "STFU, sit down, suck it up and your concerns are not valid." I'm sorry that you think that having a uterus gives someone the right to discriminate against others, most of us here don't share that view.

I’m closer to CF3 on this one. For large corporations, you get more of a sense of what a business’s values are by what they DONT say. All the content they affirmatively put out should be intended to grow the business and benefit the bottom line.
Strictly speaking, that doesn’t HAVE to be the case, but it unnecessarily sets up corporate fiduciaries to scrutiny and challenges if they take actions based on their personal beliefs rather than benefitting the company’s financials.
-
I am pretty cynical about corporations and their motivation being almost completely driven by money.
-
Yeah, no corporation cares at all about social issues. Everything is 100% profit-driven. It is a positive reflection of society if positive messages drive profit, though.

Cis-gendered women protecting their privacy in the most intimate of spaces, and cis-gendered women looking out for minor children are not bigots.
Only absolute whack-a-doos think this, and the whack-a-doos who want to force their agenda on these women are absolutely the worst of the worst.

There's been multiple cases, but I'm thinking first of the one in California when cis-gendered women complained about the presence of a biological man in their dressing room at a community center, and the cis-gendered woman/women's concern that they were minor children in that dressing room changing in and out of the bathing suits at the same time. When they tried to voice their concerns and tried to tell their side of the story they were physically attacked and/or basically told to STFU
yet, still no link
Again, it takes a special sauce to have been a part of a movement that at least talked about propping up women a lot, that now regularly tells cis-gendered women to STFU, sit down, suck it up and your concerns are not valid.
But these are after all - The Life and Times of #blueanon/#blueanongE . . . the script just writes itself
Cis-gendered women protecting their privacy in the most intimate of spaces, and cis-gendered women looking out for minor children are not bigots.
Only absolute whack-a-doos think this, and the whack-a-doos who want to force their agenda on these women are absolutely the worst of the worst.

What on earth does a trans-person on a Hershey bar advertisement have to do with trans people in locker rooms, anyway? Some school let a trans person change in the girls' locker room, so now trans people can't be in commercials?

There's no need to get into, all the cis-gendered males on this blog want their feelings and beliefs affirmed and re-affirmed.
Cis-Gendered females in private spaces and intimate places who feel unsafe and/or who don't want to compete against biological males in sports can go eff themselves . . . #blueanongE

I am pretty cynical about corporations and their motivation being almost completely driven by money.
Yeah, no corporation cares at all about social issues. Everything is 100% profit-driven. It is a positive reflection of society of positive messages drive profit, though.
Yeah, the thing is that it makes great business sense to champion inclusivity, they are far from mutually exclusive. Cynicism about motivations be damned, intentionality when it comes to inclusion should be rewarded because there are still way too few corporations actually committed to doing it. Hershey's shouldn't feel shame for making money for putting a trans woman on their candy bars, their competitors should feel shamed that Hershey's have the ability to capitalize on inclusion. Let's be real though, candy bars isn't something that's going to change consumption habits, they'll sell these particular bars out and will quickly, but trans people and their allies with a Dove habit aren't going to start woofing down Hershey's bars.

That reminds me of the last time I flew in to MCI and we went into the family bathroom to do a diaper change and locked the door and then mid diaper change some lady (who was solo, definitely did not have a small child) opened the door and we were like “ope! Sorry occupied!” And then I was thinking huh I must not have locked the door so then I went and definitely locked it, and then like a minute later the same lady opened the door again so I was like ok the lock on this door is broken and also this lady seems to think there’s a secret escape out of the family restroom and c) she didn’ doesn’t seem to care that this bathroom is intended for family use.
Anyway when we came out she was still waiting and walked right in so like, I guess she doesn’t mind if she’s just sitting there on the toilet and someone just walks in on her bc obviously the door doesn’t lock, as she saw twice. Kind of a weird experience tbch

Toss in a massive political movement that claims every time that they don't get their way, or when someone disagrees with them that it's: A genocide, an attack, it's racist, a phobia is involved etc. etc. etc.

Putin has never been in charge of me, but rest assured, I hate his ass now and would send him to the mall and let his head roll if he was US president and I had liberated Washington (St. Putinsburgh?) from his grasp.

So do you think he’s worse than Bush or not? That’s the whole question.
-
the Iraq War killed anywhere from 500,000 to 1 million people so I have to give it to Bush, but the US does have stronger history of free speech and institutions that made my life more comfortable than it would've been under a KGB agent as opposed to the son of a CIA man.

So I’m confused. You initially said it wasn’t tough to respond to Joel’s challenge to explain why Putin is worse than former US presidents like Bush. Your response just now makes me think you would have a very difficult time making that case.

The other people were Clinton, Obama, and Zelensky not “former us presidents”. And the reasons he gave were dumb ass crap.
The sanctions regime that Clinton oversaw may have also killed as many as 1 million Iraqis so I would put him in the Putin/Bush tier. I don’t think Clinton had political opponents killed unless you mean Waco and Ruby Ridge.
Obama, is much less culpable than Putin but did many bad things. I don’t have a complete accounting of Zelensky but he is probably the least culpable of all of them.
-
Ok, so in response to the question “can you explain how Putin is worse than (1) Bush, (2) Clinton, (3) Obama, or (4) Zelensky?”

Your answer is: (1) No, (2) No, (3) Yes, and (4) Yes.
I think I explained my reasoning but I'll try again. If it were "worse for the world" I would answer it that way probably. When researching, I've seen some doubts cast on how many deaths the sanctions caused so it would be a closer call, so call it a toss up. Putin is stacking plenty of bodies now and his methods in Chechnya were truly awful as well. If it were "worse for me personally if I were living under their regime" I would say Putin wins easily, or I guess I would not want to live in Ukraine right now.
It is important to remember that I don't believe any of the dumbass reasons given by the Babylon Bee guy except the Bush one where I assume he is using roughly the same context I would but I would phrase/clarify differently. Also it is pretty rich for him to get on his high horse now as I assume like most evangelicals he completely supported both terms of Bush, whereas I was standing outside protesting the Iraq war pretty much every week for the first year. So if you want to keep asking me questions about what I think, I can carry on giving you that but I'd rather not keep discussing that moron's tweet.

one thing the MAGA movement has taught me is about the ((( ))) thing. apparently the white nationals put those around words to imply they are evil jewish people/things. so many secret bigot symbols, signs, etc. I would have happily never learned about otherwise.

Not gE'ing here, the amount of Nazi blue checks that have crawled out of the woodwork on Twitter since Elon took over is really something. It feels like every post there gets a response either from a porn bot or a nazi. Really makes it hard to follow conversations.

Three years ago, Twitter was an ideal social media platform. Elon has truly managed to wreck it by doing away with verification and allowing people to pay and make posts longer than the old character limit which was the thing that made twitter, twitter.

The porn bot and nazi bots that are all over is a disease only cured when Elon tires (if he does) of twitter (or x)

Spot on. When a bunch of Nazis come out like "hey, this is not what I've come to expect from your publication, sir." You might wanna take a step back and reassess.

This whole story has led me down a very, very dark wormhole. This actual confederate sympathizing someone who makes me uncomfortable is illustrating your point perfectly:

Is he saying the Confederate flag is a Christian symbol?
Yes. There are still people living in the USA in 2024 who sincerely believe that the Confederate States of America were an ideal Christian society.
-
Yes, and that population consists of 5's after 5's of people.
In the Year 2024 there's people in our country who think that Earth is flat and millions upon millions who believe that Don Trump is a Russian plant.
