"Everyone has adversity during the year. How do you deal with it? That's part us, as a staff, part leadership and then part them," Weber said after Monday's game. "What is it about? Toughness. Do you have toughness? Do you have effort? Do you have a great attitude? And then what's your motive? Why are you here? Are you trying to help K-State have a successful season? If you add those all up, you have a great team. That's what we have to really focus on."
-
Wasn't the adversity thing a thing to mock brucexcuses? This seems like the opposite of a brucexcuse. Getting pretty hard to troll oscar, even when his team appears to be kinda crap.
-
Adversity’s not an exbrucive.

No need for this thread, especially after this upcoming recruiting class. Ppl who’ve moved on past pre oscar knew this was coming. I still can’t believe he won the Big 12 with his own players. I’ll give him this year to bandage our youth. We’ll be fine.
-
Whiffing multiple years on a decent post player got us here. I just want him to play the three frosh 20+ minutes a game so the year won’t be a complete waste.
-
Pretty sure everyone saw this coming. I liked him too. :frown:

-
going to need a couple recruiting cycles to fill this gap. better extend oscar a couple years so he can recruit effectively.
-
He smoke pot so Oscar noped him. At least he has recruited that spot like five times over.

Without The Flush's coaching the team quickly reverted to the usual Oscar crap.
I suppose we have to keep his worthless ass around for another year because recruits, but this is sad.
-
Oh, stfu.
-
If K-State loses in a forest and no one sees it, did it really happen?
-
We suck. Not going to watch.
-
Oh, stfu.
Sorry, but the Oscar sucks, is ultimately a rough ridin' failure and needs chased out of town debate is back and will only get louder as this team devoid of leadership or coaching in the abscence of The Flush get louder. So STFU or move on to a safe place.
-
ok, you're at about a 10 right now, we need you at like a 5
-
Oh, stfu.

Blaming Oscar and wanting him fired after every poor game is the most lazy, pouty ass take OAT. He’s taken us to the tourney 5 out of 7 years, won two big 12 titles, an elite 8, and is bringing in like a top 5 recruiting class OAT at K-State. If you wanna be a dumbass, do this with your friends at the bar, but don’t make us read your dumbassery on this board, you lil fuckying cry baby. The man gets a year to try and rebuild after losing 3 of the top 15 scorers in K-State history.

I've wanted his ass fired since Day 1, so eff the ffuck off. If you want to be a dumbass Oscar suckup, move on over to K-State fans. That's what it for, Oscar love and no dissent.
Worthless Oscar doesn't have a clue the fifth-year senior transfer rule exists, much to the harm of this and last year's team.

This is the annual basketball thread about words, not basketball things.

Yep I'm a never Oscar. As far as you having no clue, yes that is apparent. Learnin very much wants your assurance, so get your stupid rough ridin' ass over there and stroke him.

Ol boy looked to be doing some serious day drinking.
-
I'm w/ EMAWzifried! Oscar has always been a DA. Can't even watch this group. Trying to listen to Oscar is unbearable. He's half a step in front of CTE Miles.
-
Count me in on the ‘I think Oscar sucks since day 1’ team.....
-
Saturday kickball is best kickball imo.
-
Seriously want to lead this board back to its original never Oscar stance. Actually it is not me but Oscar doing such a crap job that the team goes the final 10 minutes of a game against a meh like Miss St without a FG. Those in-game failures are compounded by programmatic fuckups such as keeping worthless slag heaps like Love and Shad around for 3 years.
If we can win conference titles with this slack-jawed dweeb, imagine the success Cats could have with a competent coach.
-
Nah
-
-
If we know one thing about Oscar, as the losses pile up (and they will. A team so poorly coached it can't beat Bradley on a neutral court isn't going to fare well in the B12) he won't take the blame. Who is he going to throw under the bus this year?
Whomever, dweeb worshipers will just shake their heads about poor Oscar having to put up with such misguided youngsters.
-
Jesus man, try paxil, it ain't that serious
-
Yeah Oscar is coaching em up hoping to get over that Tulsa hump. Maybe Love can lift us overthat highbar.
-
Really need another kstate sports extra re: hoops to get this thread on track.
-
Suppose oscar decides to leave for his alma mater and the only way to retain Little GRCOAT is by promoting Brad Korn to head coach. What should we do?
-
i'm apathetic, and we won the big 12 last year. that's college basketball for you
-
oscar Weber ended KU's streak and we still have dumbasses that hate him. It's embarrassing.
-
i will admit that it is remarkable oscar got a big 12 trophy last season and is still unlikable.

He's sweaty Gary. 2 years of crap, 2 years of meh-alright, and one year of fun. It is what it is and what it is is enough to not get fired. Just accept it and enjoy that good season every 5 years.
-
K-State Basketball might be fun again in 2022-23 or 23-24.
This year appears to be a train wreck, next year might be a little better with the recruits, but they'll still flail around, then 22-23 they'll be better.
If it's good enough to keep the super tucks happy then so be it. They lose their minds whenever anyone questions the roller coaster ride and it gets old, so better to just let that Old Tucky dog sleep on the porch.
-
Train wreck is dramatic, but I'm sure you know that.
-
I don’t think he really cares, tbh. Just wants a reaction. Most ppl who call out tucks go into hiding during successful years, praying for demise, to say they were right. It’s honestly kinda sad, they’re so into themselves, they haven’t been able to enjoy a great run by our hobby sport. Oh well, cats, Emaw, and all of that!
-
TIL a year and a half is a great run.
-

Right there with you fam.
-
hatingfrancisco, wow that name was some piece of genius by me, so proud
-
I haven't been a big Oscar fan but I'd give him a year to get his crap together. The past 2 have been E8 and ending KU's run in the B12. Next year he has a stud class coming in. Sucks to waste Sneed and Carti's talent but they are high end role players. I'm good being patient this year but would like to see some improvement from the Frosh and Carti find a way to run the team consistently. I'm optimistic we can do it a year earlier than dax's timeline
-
The past 2 have been E8 and ending KU's run in the B12.
not trying to directly contradict you, but it is hilarious how both those seasons have the maximum amount of "meh" sprinkled in. the E8 run was largely due to the first ever 16 beating a 1 (the kentucky win was great) and getting demolished by Loyola. last season was a dr pepper but it was a tie, we lost to UC Irvine, and the team we tied with made the national championship game. it's the curse of oscar.
-
I don't really follow this stuff, but it seems like our strength of scuedule is pretty respectable lately.

Oh, you're absolutely right. A low flying oscar team will find some magic and a high flying oscar team will disappoint. That inconsistency has to be a direct reflection on his coaching.

let's go win the whole damn thing then oscar!
-
Didn't think we'd hear a Washington Nationals reference from oscar....I approve of it was an awesome World Series/Parade here in DC. Aggieville would burn to the ground if they won a National Title in Basketball
-
the blues and that nationals have opened the door for oscar...the question now is whether or not he can walk through it...
-
Never getting to use Wade in the tourney was a big part of his demise
He deserves credit for beating Kentucky without Wade but I would also hope he could beat some double-digit seeds without him. The way Loyola beat us, I don't know that Wade would've made a difference
-
That’s totally fair, but I’d like to think last years run would have been different with him.
-
He was the biggest part of our stretch run to win the conference.

Haha

he's going to have to be outstanding, not out standing around.

This conference is bad, like actually bad and not the bad we hear from dumb football fans who don't watch basketball and say that when a top two team loses to a bottom two team.
The conference is second in kenpom but almost certainly will fall to third. The last time they were third was '12-'13. That year the non con losses were as follows, the order is conference order of finish.
KU 2
KSU 4
OSU 4
MOLD 5
OU 5
BAYLOR 5
TEXAS 7
WVU 7
TECH 5
TCU 5
Again, those are only non conference losses. The conference is in a similar state this year. I say all of that to say I think we can get to 7-11.
-
7-11? i'm just not sure about that MakeItGreg
-
7-11? i'm just not sure about that MakeItGreg
I waffled between that and 6-12. There are a lot of teams in the conference that have a lot of losses in them.
-
Good Lord, this entire board is as dead as Wacky's World.
-
have you seen that pile of crap out there?
-
not KSU-related but how's this for explaining adversity:

That UNC team could roll into Manhattan this weekend and beat us by at least 15

Nah, I’m good. Looking forward to next year!
-

You still here? Yeah, the two conference championships and elite eight appearance is breaking my heart. How's Illinois basketball been doing since 2012?
-
Last place this year, and may well have a losing home record. I don't see the fifth best recruiting class in the conference changing much next year -- not unless one of the freshmen is ready to start coaching the team like The Flush did.
Oscar has reached his old balls era.
-
What is the status of the “The Streak?” I don’t know that any adversity would justify losing it.
-
I'm not sure how many years it's up to but I do know that letting The Streak end is a fireable offense.
-
letting the streak end with the schedule we have, coming off a big 12 championship, would be very oscar-like
-
looks like we are currently 6-2 at home, with 8 left to play. If the streak is .500 or above, then 2-6 gets us there. if it's above .500, then we need 3-5. i'm as nervous as a iowa state fan in a craft beer hall.

What did they do between landing in Austin at 2:46 and arriving at the arena at 5:40? Drive from San Antonio?

Is that what time they landed? I thought the broadcast said that Baylor's plane didn't even get them in Manhattan until 1 then they had to go to KC and change pilots? They apparently went to the hotel but only for an hour.

Not really an adversity thing, but from the k-state sports extra:
"Those are basketball plays. Those aren't scripted. They just happen. I thought we were able to get some of those. Then, when we got a little stagnant, we still were able to run a couple plays," he said, as K-State finished with 18 assists, its most since posting 29 against Alabama State on December 11. "We finally made some basketball plays, and it helps, obviously, when DaJuan jumps up and makes some of those threes, Carti makes a three. All that stuff definitely helps."
Do I remember correctly oscar being against basketball plays or playing basketball in the past? Those keywords don't work well in the gE search.

This year’s men’s basketball campaign is not off to a particularly great start, and several growing pains have haunted the season. Head coach oscar Weber has managed to find success in the face of adversity during his tenure at Kansas State.
