Despite KU Karla's prodding, KU Karl is having none of those ticket prices, and never will. He reminded Karla that a single ticket it worth a mini-bottle of Sutter Home Chardonnay and a round of cheese fries at Johnny's every Friday for a full month. Besides, there's the ESPN+ subscription to pay for now that basketball season is here.

I've come to count on this game being the KU super bowl. It's comforting to know that whether K-State is good or terrible in a given year, there is at least one game where the opponent thinks K-State is the most important game on their schedule. Like the sun rising in the east.

What ever happened to that Wacky Cat guy that used to visit the Phog and get in arguments with everyone? Wasn't he some kind of enrollment counselor at Brown Mackie or something? As I recall, those threads provided some quality entertainment up until old Wacky would get too worked up, fly off the handle and then see himself out.

Goddammit, I used to be grateful to KU for producing the service workers in fast food, insurance sales, and accounting clerks that I've come to rely upon in this modern world. I'm beginning to think that while KU is an excellent institution for providing this component of the workforce, the attitude of their fans is making me shift my loyalties to Johnson County Community College.

The 2019 Sunflower Showdown made me sad and angry all the same.
As a graduate of Louisiana State University, I was sad to see a football team coached by Les Miles play the game so poorly. Was this the same man who led my alma mater to a national championship in 2007?
After this game, I came to the depressing conclusion it is time for Miles to retire. Admitting defeat will not diminish anything he accomplished at LSU or Oklahoma State. I doubt Nick Saban would have much success with the current Jayhawk roster.
The anger comes from the arrogance of Kansas State fans. That arrogance has existed in Manhattan during most of the past 30 years and has reached new highs in Chris Klieman’s first season as coach. I’m certain a statue of Klieman is in the works to be erected next to LHC Bill Snyder’s.
A deeper dive reveals Snyder built his legacy upon dozens of victories over cupcakes. Meanwhile, K-State won very few games that truly mattered, the 2003 Big 12 championship game versus Oklahoma the exception.
The arrogance of Kansas State fans over a program that has won two conference championships since 1935 makes Alabama fans seem downright humble.
