Title: Let’s look ahead at the Cats schedule...
Post by: Pete on September 14, 2019, 03:42:38 PM
Couple weeks ago we were remarking among the Mods that if we win 2 out of the upcoming stretch of @MSU,@OSu, BU, TCU then we’d be “on track” at being pretty good.  3-1 was thought to mean that we are dang good (like Alamo bowl good), and 4-0 meant watch out OU and damn, son.

Both OSU and Baylor look pretty good to me, but I think we have a real good shot at 3-1.  4-0 still seems unlikely to me, but the mere fact I am entertaining the idea blows my rough ridin' mind.

We're 3-0 with 3 winnable games before OU rolls into town. I think the toughest one is @OSU. We get a bye and something tells me that is a much better thing to have with Kli than previously. If we get to 4-0, we get the next two at home, and have a legit shot of 6-0, top 10? and gameday with OU. Holy crap I just typed that.

ksu has started 3-0 with a power 5 road win twice before:

1999 (vs temple, vs utep, @ iowa state); finished 11-1

2011 (vs eastern ky, vs kent st, @ miami); finished 10-3

I agree with all of this, and I cannot believe after last season, that what you just said is a very realistic possibility.

@OSU is going to be tough no matter the lead up, but our bye combined with their Texas gives us about as good a shot as you could hope for.

As long as we can catch the punts that they will be kicking to us all night long, we should run their raggedy asses up and down their own football field and beat them by about 30.

ksu rush defense: 4.7 ypp (#100 in ncaa)

Against that powerhouse Mcneese state.

Oregon state and Tulsa have proven to be hot garbage with a combined record of 2-4. Oregon state was running fine until they got desperate and started throwing it all over.

2007 was the game that wasn't on TV. I was there with the radio station. It was like 54-51 OSU or something.

I watched the game with filly in 2011 in Wichita vs OSU. I think that's when I got video'd leaving Trim's super PAK'd or he and EMAWgeddon called and left like a 5 minute VM on my phone at like 2 AM. It was one of them.

IIRC 2011 was shootout where TLBL got his spleen busted on the last play of the game and add such wasn't able to catch what would have been the game winning TD with like 7 seconds left. Also in that time slot was bama LSU and I think the final score in that game was like 6-3 or 9-3

Yup, that Bama LSU game was being hyped as "The Game of the Century" but what an absolute snoozefest.  And I think it had to go to overtime just for someone to hit the mythical 9 point barrier.

Well, we went 2-2.  However, I do not think we are “on track” to be good this year. It’s possible that we will be favored in only 1 game.  We could play our best football and still win only 2 more games....and I think it will take our best football to beat both KU and WVU.  I personally wouldn’t bet on winning any more than that.

With a freshman QB none the less.  But, he lost to KU, and ultimately lost to KU three times in a row.  Any K-State coach who loses to KU thee times in a row should be fired.  That should be in the contract, IMO.

I'll bet anything you want that we won't be an underdog in Lawrence. West Virginia was a 5 point favorite at KU the week after they doubled up Boston College.

Also after OU, there isn't a game on the schedule that wouldn't be a shock if we won or lost any of them.

Our defense is pretty good, and KU's defense sucks.  However, defenses do not need to be good to shut down our offense.  We had 94 yards rushing yesterday, and 60 of that was on one surprise draw play from Skyler.

It will be interesting to see if KU's offensive explosion was a fluke against Tech in Lawrence this week.  If they do it to Tech, then we could be in trouble.
