Anyone else have this happen? Lucky as eff but I actually did one today! Was an absolute shocker moment of like what the eff just happened , then it’s like omfg it just happened , to welp I am going to get a six pack for back nine!, lol!
-
Nice job ‘sotacat. Never had one. Hit the pin once. Another time I didn’t see my ball and got excited that it was in but then found it like 25 yards away in a bunker buried AF.

Nice. Had a few pin knockers but nothing in the cup.

The coolest part is my Son In Law is the golfer been teaching me two years and this is how it went.
Number 8 old elks Salina.
“Nice ball pops! Left to right slight fade hits the left fringe bounces out up and to the right.” Oh crap nice bounce Pops? Hits front of left green starts rolling slightly right towards pin. “ hey Pops nice roll Get in the hole” then doink in and out of sight!
Then it’s we both look at each other dead silent then the whole friggen lot of anyone on the front nine knows something went down. Two guys over on number three yell out what’s up I shoot them the number one sign and the older guys says nice job now get some beer!, man what a deal!
-
i call it a hole in one when I pelt a woman on the first date, usually beer involved in that as well
-
Is that the hole with the bigass transformer on the left of the green?
-
Congrats Minncat, what a great feeling that must be. Whenever I hit one that looks like it's heading toward the pin I bat flip my club just in case it goes in and then I'll have the coolest hole in 1 ever.
-
Never made one, but I had 3 birdies on Friday night.
-

There are some big transmission lines that run along the south side left and a house there with a shed. You might be thinking of the muni? no transformer though.
-
Yea that’s what I meant, it used to be 17 before great life.
-
hole 7 manhattan country club, 4 iron into a strong wind

this is every time i can't find my ball
-
I'm afraid that when I finally make it happen, i'll be playing by myself someday.
-
never play by yourself, problem solved
-
I like to practice. :gocho:
-
I’ve hit so many holes in one that I’ve lost track. And I’m not even a serious golfer, I only play at Top Golf.

My mom did that... OR SO SHE SAYS.

I have a Tournament with Dad this weekend out in the Flint Hills. I might try to sneak in a quick 9 over lunch or something this week. What if is all I’m saying, guys! What if?!!!
I believe her, 8man! What a weird thing to make up. ;)

9 Hole round at Heart of America after work Thursday?
-
I think I could do that!!!
-
I played 18, I shot 18, just can't seem to miss.
-
Pissclams needs to forget about a hole in one I would think a Plug on many would be more desired but that’s just me! Still can’t believe it total luck! Just hope I don’t get hit by a bus or bugged by a piss clam.
-
ESPN is going to make a 30 for 30 of Ben Ji and I’s epic battle at the golf course today. We had to go into a playoff hole to decide the winner. First time at Heart of America. Beautiful, well kept course, for a great price. We had fun, guys!

Such an up and down battle, I was up 3 strokes after the first hole then 420 serious cat went into steady eddy mode while I melted down.
Going into the 6th hole I was down 4 strokes but determined to win the dang day! Ended up sinking a 15ft putt on the last hole to tie it up and send it to OT.
I absolutely crushed my drive on the playoff hole and am putting for birdie while 420 is putting for par.....I let the nerves get to me and ended up 3 putting while ole steady eddy 420 sunk his first putt to make par.
Just a great evening of golf. (https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190816/593d7b231a304c0ac3c1fa9c82469ceb.jpg)

mods, please change to 420steadyeddy69

I also figured out why 420steadyeddy69 can only hit his driver a max of 220 yards.... despite being 6 inches taller than me his driver is about 1 inch shorter than mine.....Looks like he is swinging a pitching wedge!

Yes, thank you for that Ben Ji. Time to buy a new driver. Holy crap, you opened my eyes last night.

It's weird being so tall, only to drive the ball like a lil bitch.
-
What do the handicap numbers mean
-
What do the handicap numbers mean
How hard the hole is supposed to be on the course. 1 being the toughest.
-
260+ is a great place to ride. Cracking a 300+ on those dry summer courses really gets the blood pumping. Hope you find a driver that does it for ya.
-
i swing a 30 year old driver. could i get a new one and smash it further? sure. i just know how to hit this ole bird, and like the feeling of beating my bros with my dinosaur clubs.
-
I hit a crazy fade sometimes and I know it always throws people off when I line up left to strike the ball. Ben JI noticed this and was like "Uh, wacky..." and I was like "Yeah, I know, but just watch this"
-
A good pro can fix that in a couple of lessons. I had a nice banana slice and would aim waaaaay left. Now, I play the left edge and fade to the middle on most days.
-
I honestly don't know how much more golf I'll have in me with lil wacky on the way soon, but I love it. Tourney this weekend in the Flint Hills. I'd love to take lessons eventually.
-
when i used to golf i would line up and stare as hard as i could at the ball and then swing like a champion. 320 yards later that puppy would be sitting just a sand wedge from the hole. ever-y single time.
-
Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun. I think hitting it far is pretty lame though. If I get too close, I have to use a wedge and I suck with wedges. I'd rather be 150-170ish out. :gocho:
-
I just use a driver and putter
-
Reminds me of an old guy one time about 30 years ago hooked up with us over on Stagg hill and the dude shot par even golf! Whipped our young asses at the time drove 150, second shot 150, chip then drain a friggen par just about every hole .
Now I’m the olds and still try to crush it all the time and consistently hit it about 235 but man that guy was straight and steady man!
-
@benji is thirsty for more and we're going golfing this afternoon. I haven't played in a month and i'm running on fatigue with the lil wackster keeping me up, I just wanted to put that out there, before he comes posting his scorecard on here this evening. :curse:
-
cheat your ass off wacky, this aint the pga

How did it go? Heading out this weekend for a round in Salina.
-
Played at the OP off Quivira. It was hella fun. Had a 4:30 tee off and got stuck behind an old people’s league, so we played two balls a hole. I par’d the 9th to win by a stroke. Snuck in 3 more holes after that. Great time with an amazing fellow cat. Ben Ji is doing well, guys!
-
2 balls a hole should go in the life hack thread
-

-
You only played 9 holes? That can't be considered a win. I've shot many 35/56 scores on each nine!! :flush:
-
Thanks for the invite :dubious:

Ole Steady Eddy got me again by 1 stroke :shakesfist: but I'm putting a * next to it. I got a quadruple bogey on the 1st hole before we started playing 2 balls each so that hole shouldn't count IMO.
Without that quadruple bogey I would of beat him by 2 strokes. :gocho:
-
Playing 2 balls each was a blast. Would Play each ball all the way through and just take the score from the lowest ball as your final score. Definitely made it more fun and if you knew one of your balls was in a good position already you could try some riskier shots with your second ball.
Also allowed us to keep a safe distance from the grouchy group of 2 old couples ahead of us.
-
yea it makes a lot of sense to play 2 balls. it's like, go and play 18 holes in 4 hours, or play 36 holes in 4.5 hours.
-
36 holes is a lot of golf. Don't you guys get a bit fatigued, or at the very least sore the next day? I'm assuming this board isn't exactly full of Koepkas...
-
When you hit the ball on the green every shot, it doesn’t matter.

I came really close last night to getting my first hole in one, guys. Also, I piss pounded the ball with the new rod. Played the OP again and we barely got 9 in and we started at 5. It's getting dark early now and I hate it. :frown: Also, Ben Ji, we need to PAK sometime at their restaurant. Their specials are amazing!
-
I made my first hole in 1 yesterday on our hoopty farm course and will reward everyone here with a quick tour of all of the 9 holes/tee boxes on our course.
-
Here is the course layout superimposed over google maps. Its a 9 hole par 3 course where each tee box shares the same hole.
Holes vary from 110-160 yards.
-
Here is the "green" which is actually greener than the normal course since we water it every day. If you don't water it the ground is hard AF and your tee shots roll forever.
The hole is a 12" pot we buried in the dirt, flag pole is a old hoe and the flag is a Penzy Spices bandana that we found (lookies hippie as crap so we love the contrast on the farm course)
Behind the flag is our an old corral we mowed down that plays like a sand pit and the single water hazard of the course (a livestock water thing that leaks)

CAT RANCH LLC COURSE RULES
1 breakfast ball on the 1st and 10th holes
1 mulligan per 9
If your ball lands in the windbreak you are allowed to move it out of the windbreak without taking a stroke (this is to encourage us to find all the balls that land in the windbreaks).
If there is no decent grass where your ball landed you are allowed to move it 1 club length to find a better piece of grass. Also if a building we care about is in the way of your ball and the hole you are allowed to move your ball until you have a clean line to the hole.
-
Hole 1 is a 110 yard par 3 with a partially obstructed view. This is where I got the hole in 1 yesterday, bounced it just past the road and got a lucky bounce into the hole (still counts).
One of the easiest holes on the course.
-
Hole 2 is a 120 yard par 3 that seems pretty simple but when you have a 20+ MPH wind at your back its pretty easy to end up in the windbreak behind the hole using a wedge.
-
Hole 3. This one is a long 155 yard par 3 that follows the main driveway/rutway into the homestead. Gotta grip it and rip it on this one.
-
Hole 4. So you thought it was just simple tee shots hugh? Nope!
This is a 140 yard par 3 where you cant see the hole from the tee box. As long as you clear the diagonal windbreak you should be in good shape.
-
Hole 5 is a 120 yard par 3 that is typically the easiest hole on the course but if you go right and your ball rolls down the cart path/ruts it could keep going for days putting you in a tough position. I've rolled one all the way down to the gas tank.
-
Hole 6 is definitely the toughest hole on the course. Its a 160 yard par 3 from the pony pen where you have to clear a windbreak at 120 yards with 5-10 mini ponies aggressively circling you as you tee off. I melt down on this hole all the time.
-
Hole 7 is a pretty simple 130 yard par 3 assuming you can ignore the mini ponies circling you desperate for attention.
-
Hole 8 is an enigma wrapped in a riddle. Its only 115 yards but its 100 yards to clear the mowed down corral/sand trap. Depending on the wind I've hit a wedge/9/8 on this hole.
-
Hole 9...man I hate this hole. No wiggle room for error. 120 yards to clear the mowed down corral and 130 yards to the hole. Also if you hit it 10 yards to the right you are behind a windbreak, 20 yards to the right of the hole you are in the cattle pen by their water feature.
20 yards to the left and you are in more windbreaks or hopefully another fairway.
The only safe way to play this hole is to use an 8 iron and hopefully land it in the "fairway" behind the hole and pray for a par.

You guys need to put in a regulation-sized hole.

You guys need to put in a regulation-sized hole.
As soon as we can get "regulation" style greens we might consider it but when you are putting over dandelions/clover/buffalo/crabgrass you need a bigger hole.
-
We started with this as our hole so I would say we are making progress.
Rome was not built in a day.

do you actually have to get the ball in the flower pot hole? do you use a putter?
-
Sounds like it's a putter, PW, 9 iron (maybe one time) course.
-
do you actually have to get the ball in the flower pot hole? do you use a putter?
Yes, to both questions.
-
THAT's the best stick you could find? Come on, man.
-
if you can shoot 1 under while having to put on uneven ground like that you must be tiger woods
-
Tiger would shoot at least -18 on that course. I'm not being critical of the course, as I would gladly play it and wish I had that setup myself. It's good to have land.
-
if you can shoot 1 under while having to put on uneven ground like that you must be tiger woods
You actually kind of get used to it after a while, going to be an adjustment when I go back to regular golf. Also I was +10 on the front 9 :frown:
-
I was EXTREMELY good at Tiger Woods golf, like legendary good level. I've made probably 200 hole in ones in my Tiger Woods golf playing career.
-
THAT's the best stick you could find? Come on, man.
seriously.. who's their stick guy is what I want to know?
-
one time at the driving range with stunted I was using one of his old drivers and hit the ground and the ball and the head of the driver went significantly farther than the ball. If you could throw the golf ball up in the air and hit it with a baseball bat it'd be a way more fun game.
-
Played 18 with ole @420seriouscat69 (or steady eddy) at painted hills today. I legit played the best round of golf in my life and he beat me 85 to 86.
On the 4thish hole(par 5) he shanked a drive into the woods, took his mulligan and hit that about 20 yards AND STILL GOT A PAR ON THE HOLE.
-
I tried crap talking to get in his head (sure you wanna use that club? Are you reading the break of the green right? Etc) but it barely helped.
I am now 0-3 against steady eddy and every single game has come down to 1 stroke.
-
Love you brother... 5 pars in a row for me on the front 9. Felt so great to get out.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200521/f2cd6dc1e58b672bc7b62395f866cce9.jpg)

-
1 mulligan per 9. Nobody here is a pro. No driving range or putting green to warm up there as well.
-
I shot a 111 on sunday so shooting an 86 today still felt like a win.
-
Pft, I bet you guys don't even pull the pin out when you putt.
-
Painted Hills is short, and not always in the best condition, but it's a fun layout.
-
damn felt good to get out there this morning, played 18 at staley. shot 79 which isn’t the best but was the a damn good feeling just to hit the links!
-
Finally got the best of ole @420seriouscat69 tonight and whooped his ass up and down the fairway at Sykes Lady. I shot a 95 and he ended with a 105.
After him beating me by 1 stroke for the last bazillion times I finally laid the lumber to him (probably because he made a rookie mistake and ate chipotle for lunch when our tee time was at 4).
-
Good game, dork! ;) You played well. Have fun tomorrow with your friends. Happy to see you today and catch up.
-
Also, he honestly kicked my ass today. 10 shots doesn’t give him enough credit. He let me relax and get back in the game with a few practice swings. He could have ended me on hole 6.
-
I’m glad you guys had fun. Why are you posting here instead of the main golf thread?
-
In two weeks I'm going to play golf at a course not owned by Top Golf for the first time since 2003. Probably won't go under par for the entire round because I'm a bit rusty.
-
Hey guyz, I might be addicted to the golf smack because OMG it feels so amazing when you play well and I can't stop playing. I've played 4 rounds in the past week including painted hills 2 days in a row (not by design, just happened) and am playing 9 holes today after work with a co-worker.
Tuesday - Fred Arbanas - 104
Friday - St Andrews - 93
Sunday - Painted Hills - 85
Monday - Painted Hills - 85 (Through 17)
Today - Heart of America
Is there a higher high than bombing a drive then crushing an iron onto the green from 150+ yards out? I doubt it man...but then you end up 3 putting for a bogey and the golf smack high goes away until the next hole and you have to start chasing the dragon all over again.

We shot a 60 this weekend, brother. Which was amazing, because the first 9 we were shooting into 25+ mph winds out there.

ben ji i am going to be completely honest with you my dude...nothing gets me jizzed up like when i hit an iron onto the green and then it backspins. even if that backspin is making the ball roll further away from the hole i'm just like oh eff yes spin babey!!

Yes, that is an amazing feeling. I have no idea how to put backspin on the ball but when it happens its magical...I prefer when you crush a 9/wedge sky high onto the green and stick the ball like 6 inches away from where your massive divot is. COMPLETE CONTROL.

Hit a hole in one when I was in high school at McConnell Air Force Base, Twin Lakes Golf Course. It was where our team practiced. I don't think the course is there anymore but it was hole #2, 129 yards, 9-iron. Pured the shot, landed about 5 ft below the hole, rolled up and hit the flag and stuck between the hole and the flag (it was windy). I could still see the ball so just thought it hit the pin. When I turned around to put my club in the bag the ball fell in the hole and all my buddies started cheering. Needless to say it was pretty sweet, even if I didn't see it fall in. It was acknowledged in the Wichita Eagle, but they got my last name wrong. :( Luckily the golf course gave me a plaque, so the paper isn't my only proof!

In all honesty it was pretty lucky. I am not that good at golf. I was the 6 man on varsity in high school, had about a 15 handicap. Now if I shoot under 100 I am happy,

Ole wacky and I have a 11am tee time at Minor Park on Friday and there are 2 more slots available at that tee time if anyone wants to play with us.

I hit a hole in one at the wildcat creek mini golf course last weekend.
oops wrong thread. :buh-bye:

Got the first eagle of my life at Sycamore Ridge on sunday morning. Hole 9 Par 4, crushed the drive about 250 into the middle of the fairway then holed out a wedge from 135 yards. They had one of those ball stoppers in the hole so I thought it was right next to the hole until we pulled up to the green. Ended up with an 89 :gocho:

Around noon yesterday I was bored and decided to book a 2pm tee time at Grand Summit Golf Course out in Grandview...Played the front 9 with a guy and his dad then as we make the turn and are waiting to tee off the group behind us pulls up and its non other than ole wackycat and his dad.
Ended up playing the back 9 with wacky and his dad, good times 10/10.

Small world, bud. It was a blast running into you. Poppa wacky that you were a great dude!

11th hole at Tomahawk Hills today, 155 yard Par 3 slightly uphill...
I crushed a 7 Iron and got about as close to a hole on 1 that you can get without actually getting a hole in one

The wind was in my face, ball must of rimmed out as my divot was between the hole and my ball.
-
that hole is more than slightly uphill. nice shot
-
Nice shot, ben ji.
-
My 89 year old grandpa hit a hole in one last week. Think it was his 5th.

Well done. I hate that hole.

Got the "Perfect Practice" putting green for Christmas. Can't wait to spend hours in my basement this winter then come out and consistently drain putts next spring/summer.

My buddy down in TX spent $8500 to put an astroturf putting green in his tiny backyard. He has 2 young kids and a medium sized dog. He is not known for making the best decisions but I respect the crap out him for going for it....
Just wondering how that thing is going to smell in July when it's soaked in urine/crap.

God bless Texas

Yup. That's a classic DFW-area fence.
-
Growing up so close to those powerlines will give his 2 children and dog superpowers.
-
I’m sure those kids don’t play their XBox outside.

Expected more for $8500 tbh.

Discovered a super secret life hack yesterday...Book a round of golf on Easter Morning.
I was by myself, a small group a couple of holes ahead of me and no one behind me so I ended up playing 2 balls the entire time. Twice as much golf with no waiting!
(This life hack only works if you are not religious and do not have small kids who collect eggs)
-
Also works much better in Kansas than some other more diverse/less religious places. I played yesterday too, and it wasn’t quite as empty.
-
my parents live on a GC and there were no gaps all day yesterday

Lol, yes. I’m guessing his average is around 200 rounds per year over the last 30 years

I've been playing alot of golf this summer and actually practicing putting/short chips.
Almost broke 90 at St Andrews (OP, not UK) the other day. I'll pretty much be on the tour if I keep improving at this rate.
Going from averaging 3 putts to 2 putts is definitely the easiest way to drop your score quickly.

I chipped in for eagle from 65 yards out today. I might never get a hole in one so I just wanted to tell you guys.

Nice! Did you get to see it go in? I wedged in for eagle from about 125yds a couple of years ago but it was uphill so we didn't know where my ball was until we looked in the hole.

Just got done playing 18 at Tiffany Springs up by MCI and shot a 101, woof.
The good part was I played with my buddy and some of his clients so I didn't have to pay anything.
The bad part was they play the back tees because they are good so I played it with them and they all beat me by 15ish strokes.
Great course though, would play again.

Nope, it was an elevated green. My son ran up and looked after I hit because we knew it was going right at it. My son getting excited about golf within the last couple years has been great.

I’m playing Harborside in Chicago Sunday for the first time which is way overpriced but has some great views of the city and is by the lake
-
the very first time I golfed in my entire life I hit a 5 wood (lmao) at number 2 at the Meade Country Club course and hit the pin, ended up about 4 inches from the hole. based on this data only I can say holes in one are mega pud.
-
I remember my first hole in one. Looked like the ball was going to be knocked off course by the windmill blade but missed it by inches.
