- Castro - I think he's a well thought out spokesman but may get destroyed by Trump in a debate

- Beto - I like him and he was a great anti-Cruz candidate for Senate. But I have no idea what his plans are for being President.
- Swalwell - I like how he relentlessly attacks Trump. Probably couldn't beat Trump though.
- Warren - I like Warren and if she was younger she'd be higher up my list. I don't think all her "great policies" would have a snowball's chance in hell of getting passed.
- Booker - I don't know anything really bad about Booker but I don't know anything really good about him either.
- Ryan - He's a dufus but could probably beat Trump and by winning back the rust belt.
- Klobuchar - Don't know much about her but it sounds like she's modeling herself after Selina Myer but not funny.
- Delaney - Hickenlooper - Inslee - Messam - Mouton - Williamson - Never heard of any of them.
- Biden - Too old but would probably beat Trump's ass.
- Sanders - Too old and can't beat Trump
- Yang - Too weird
- Tulsi - not sure why she's running, I've never heard/read anything good about her

I agree about Mayor Pete's media coverage but this tweet is rough ridin' dumb. There are literally 17 visible faces between those two photos. A political rally is mostly white people? No crap? Who wouldn't draw a crowd looking like that at this point? Also worth noting that event, like events for all of the candidates now, are only going to draw people on the candidates mailing list, judging by the size and location of that one, it's likely that only donors got the notice. Acting like this was some open event in Houston's barrio and only gringos bothered to show up is intentionally deceptive.

I agree about Mayor Pete's media coverage but this tweet is rough ridin' dumb. There are literally 17 visible faces between those two photos. A political rally is mostly white people? No crap? Who wouldn't draw a crowd looking like that at this point? Also worth noting that event, like events for all of the candidates now, are only going to draw people on the candidates mailing list, judging by the size and location of that one, it's likely that only donors got the notice. Acting like this was some open event in Houston's barrio and only gringos bothered to show up is intentionally deceptive.

i watched that she the people thing last night on 2x speed. warren absolutely murdered it. i really respect her, but i think her policies suck. will really enjoy watching her during the debate. i also like klob, but i don't think the audience did. lol'd at people boo'ing bernie when he brought up marching with MLK - like, there's gotta be some well-known intersectionality backstory there that i'm not privy to.

i haven't seen how much of this aired on face the nation (hopefully a good bit), but i highly recommend that anyone with even the slightest interest in voting for beto watch the full interview. the interviewer did a good job on pressing beto for detail, and especially the first 10-15 minutes focused on immigration were really good. the back half, discussing some foreign policy was also interesting.

first off the tax is just really badly designed and not progressive at all:
Households making less than $30,000 per year would pay $25; those making less than $40,000 would pay $57; those making less than $50,000 would pay $98; those making less than $75,000 would pay $164; those making less than $100,000 would pay $270; those making less than $200,000 would pay $485; and those making more than $200,000 would pay $1,000.?
As for his answer on putting war powers back with congress and his seeming openness to repealing (or re-voting on the AUMF) is pretty good. His answer on Afghanistan is pretty bad, he says one of his pre-conditions is that Afghanistan can never be used to launch attacks on the US from again. He says we've "satisfied" that and that he would pledge to get them out within 4 years. It sounds an awful lot like Obama's promises and I am similarly skeptical about how he is going to roll back the "metastasized" conflicts he speaks about in the other clip. Just unilateral withdrawl? Put each up for a vote?
What happens when congress likely just re-ups the AUMF and punts back to him? He sounds like that process would satisfy his concerns and empire could get on about its business.
I just don't have the trust that he is really serious about this at all or else it wouldn't be a "war tax" with the focus on a very minor reform of the VA, it would instead just be a plan to get out of Afghanistan and Iraq and roll back the rest of these undeclared conflicts.

1) i'd have to relisten to be sure of what he said in this interview, but he usually says that afghanistan not being used to launch attacks was one of the goals of the invasion and that as that has been (in his view) accomplished (along with another goal), there is no reason to continue engagement. i expect you're right that, as obama did, he will find it harder to do than it is to say.
2) i think you should instead view it as interesting that these issues were forced into a va policy proposal that really had no reason to mention foreign policy at all.
