it seems like we've been running roughshod over the big 12 forever even though we've basically only been owning it since the last 10 years.
and even though hoops is a hob sport, when you couple all of the success of football and basketball it kinda seems like we've outgrown our conference membership and should start strongly looking elsewhere.
imagine the feeling of once and for all getting rid of lil hayseed hawk in lawerentucky and moldy gingers from iowa state.
the big 12 can't handle two programs the size of ours and texas and i think we should flip bowlsby deuces and apply for membership in the ACC. many of the flagship schools in that conference share our pedigree of excellence. there's blue bloods which we can safely now consider ourselves one of, and a lot we could offer once we break the b12 anchor we've had around our ankle.
if the acc comes calling, and i'm pretty sure that talks have already begun with them and ADGT, we have to take flight and let our purple wings fly freely.
any reason to stay in b12 other than to continually own these noobs year in and year out?
-
The acc is a much better fit "culturally"
-
I'm just concerned that the state reps are still going to tie KU to us. So if the ACC takes us, we have to drag lil bro with us. Not sure the ACC would be willing to risk that.
-
The pac isn't quite as blue bloody but I would listen to their proposal as well.
Sec and big know they would be laughed out of taytay's office so I doubt they even try to woo us.
-
Heard the ACC had cooled on us lately because of Wade's foot.
-
Let's roll wildcats to tobacco road
-
I think we would just find that most of the ACC is just as bad, really. We should work with Texas to just poach the best schools from every conference to form our own brand new athletic and academic powerhouse of a conference.
Kansas State
Texas
Michigan
Ohio State
USC
UCLA
North Carolina
Clemson
Alabama
Kentucky
-
Good idea but horrible execution. If we are poaching the best teams then let's just go after the best locations. No one wants to be in Alabama or Kentucky or Ohio and also grab Duke

Gotta agree with Wacks, when Big Rust Belt or the ACC comes a callin, we're probably gonna have to tow little brother along with us.

Yeah much better. I would add Oregon and Washington in place of Michigan and Ohio state, I don't really see why people find them desirable.
-
I've heard (A+++ source) that the big 10 has begun preliminary talks with The General and The Meadowlark. Will continue to to monitor.

Just limiting travel a bit. The NW is awful for travel, keep west coast to LA

I'm just not convinced that Duke will be of any value when coach K calls it quits. We don't want to be stuck with them if they can't sustain success past him.

true. they are what I call a "1 coach program".
-
I think K-State can be the rising tide/life preserver for 1 coach program/sister school Duke. Both schools with a substantial national footprint.
-
Coach K has a tree. By the time he retires, Capel will have a team of 5 stars cutting down nets and driving Benzes at Pitt. He'll be ready to come home and keep things going at Duke

also academically

I'm just relieved someone finally said what we've all been thinking. Thanks be to Clams.

Maybe. I just don't get taking them over UNC. At worst, they might be another Baylor, and we are trying to get away from those losers.

Just FYI, picking North Carolina over Duke is like picking Coffeyville over Leawood, Johnny Kaw's over Auntie Mae's, or Natty Ice over Tank 7.
