SE: K-State MBB Ready to Face Adversity, Showed So in 71-59 Win Over Georgia State

By Corbin McGuire

If history has taught us anything about this No. 25/24 K-State men's basketball team, it's that adversity does not rattle these Wildcats for long, if at all. Most often, it brings out the best out of them.

The latest example: K-State's 71-59 win against Georgia State in Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday that snapped a two-game losing streak. The Wildcats (7-2) finished the game on a 21-6 run without seniors Claws and Deathbite. They did so against a Georgia State team picked to win the Sun Belt Conference and led by an NBA Draft prospect in D'Marcus Simonds.

"Things happen for a reason, I really believe that. We had to have some adversity," K-State head coach oscar Weber said. "I didn't want this adversity that we had tonight but hopefully it will help us grow as a team."

This is actual adversity though, instead of the mockable crap like long flights to Hawaii.

Guys, oscar is just unlucky. It's definitely the foot injuries that are killing us tonight, not that our players looking like they couldn't possibly give less of a eff.

Nothing like a 20 point loss at home to a bottom 3 team to fire up the Rocky theme

So, as K-State (10-4, 0-2) looks to end a two-game losing streak to start Big 12 play, Brown and Weber offered their veteran perspectives on what it really means for their team moving forward.

"We've had to deal with some adversity," Weber added, as K-State has been without Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year Claws for the last five games. "Hopefully it makes you tougher, but you have to step up. This league is not very forgiving. Whether you're healthy or not, you have to come and play every game. You have 10 really good teams that you have to be ready for and get some consistency."

not really.  he still says "you have to step up", not "we".

Sounds like that's apparent tho after he starts his response with "we've".

well yeah, when it comes to talking about the adversity, he's def a part of that.  when it comes to how they have to deal with it, then it's not "we" anymore, he wants no part of it.
