getting rothstein'd already :frown:

-
 Man, we dodged a bullet.
-
Agreed an elite 8 is way better than a final four
-
Man frank is going to make 1 out of the last 7 tournaments. Really made the most of that one though.
-
lol Tbt, Weber gave us our first conference title since ‘77, matched franks elite 8, and now frank has only made the tourney once in 7 years there. Stop defending the dude.
-
if you guys can say with a straight face you’d trade in Franks last 7 years vs Weber’s, there’s no helping you. You’ve officially lost it.
-
Frank always had a tougher job at South Carolina than here. Weber has put together a really likeable and pretty swaggery team, but I have no reason to believe Frank couldn’t have done better if he stayed.
-
He had, past tense, couldn’t keep it riding after his one successful season. The man is likable, but stop defending him at this point. It’s way easier/more accommodating to turn over a college bball team vs college football team in one year. Look what Higgs did. Time to hold him accountable fanboys
-

We went to the elite eight and the next year Currie found a receipt and suspended Jamar in the tourney and Frank left. The next year we win a ship with all of Franks players, idk why this is so hard to grasp. We had success after the elite eight, I mean, what?
Then oscar dismantles his own recruited team, twice, and FINALLY has some success after the sea parts and we have no higher seeded teams to play.
South Carolina has always been garbage at basketball and to make the final four with them is remarkable. We consistently made the tourney with a historically good program. It’s not easy to make the tourney with a historically bad program, yet Frank achieved a final four.
-
I mean I know oscar is our coach and I like this team a lot. To discount what Frank was and what oscar was until last year is just a joke.
-
Lol. Frank could never win a conference with his most loaded team at K-State. There’s no way he would have won the year after he hit the curb. I was at the tourney site when the receipt crap went down and guess what, Jam Sam wouldn’t have won that game.

Nobody is discounting what “Frank did”. We’re just lol’ing our asses off in hindsight. He’s not the golden boy many on this board have played him out to be.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
He also took over a stacked roster from huggs just like Weber did. It’s just that Weber is better with leftovers.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
Guess we’ll never know
-
Well what we know now is Frank can’t recruit worth a crap once all of his (huggs) assistants left and he’s kinda shitty for it.
-
Good thing all coaches have assistants who’s job is to recruit or all of college basketball would be pretty shitty.
-
TBT, why are you riding or dying with Frank?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
-
I’m not doing either. I just think it’s dumb to say that Frank was some terrible coach and it’s a good thing he’s no longer at KSU.
-
I’m not doing that either. I’m saying do a blindfold resume vs the 2 in the last 7 years and I’m taking Weber’s resume EVERYDAY!
-
A Final Four is worth 2 Elite Eights. That’s just math.
-
I don’t think it’s that simple IMO. KSU and South Carolina’s basketball histories are completely different. Recruits want to play for winning programs, historically KSU has been a winner, South Carolina is a dumpster fire. Blind comparisons of resumes between us and them isn’t a fair comparison IMO.
-
Nobody gives a single crap about basketball at USCe and now Frank is giving them all the more reason to take what little they cared and go home.
It’s a total novelty there. Football and baseball is all they care about. Frank should’ve moved on after the FF.
-
Before Huggs got to K-State and handed over a gold chest to Frank, South Carolina and K-State’s previous 20 years were identical. Stop with this talking point.

I guess there’s nothing else to discuss, Wacky has decided.

Frank is also closer to his “recruiting grounds” in Florida

SD did you like that combo breaker :excited:
-
I'm going to rename by ranch Stoney Brook
-
Frank is not very smart and a big hypocrite.
-
wacky still thinks people like frank based solely on his coaching ability
if we’re going to be a slightly better than average team, almost everyone can see that frank is the right coach to get you there over oscar. but not wacky. why? who knows!

sounds like wacky was over served again last night
-
How? Proving Frankers are over loyal idiots? Got me!
-
Ppl hate being wrong. I get it.
-
Frank went to the Final 4 due to the play of PJ Dozier and Sindarious Thornwell. Thornwell was SEC player of the year. Both were local guys recruited from South Carolina with Lamont Evans as the lead recruiter.
One complaint from SC fans is he can no longer recruit players from South Carolina due to how he treats players. The other problem is player retention. Player turnover in their first or second year is something like 60%.
One add to this post: They lost an exhibition game and the first game against Stony Brook but way to early to know if this years SC team will be good or bad.
-
Man, Frank looks so old now.
https://twitter.com/tamashford/status/1057762746488504320
-
Holy crap. He looks like Ed O'Neill on Modern Family.
-
Poor guy, he looks like he could be close to the end
-
Stony Brook could be ok. They came back to win their first game after being down 22-0. Definitely not a good result for South Carolina but their season is hardly over.
From what I heard, Frank really thought he was getting Zion.
-
South Carolina was not getting talent in state before Frank...for a long time. Frank wins with two home state players to his credit. He made a final 4 at a program that does not have the same history as KSU, although over the last 25 years, they look more similar than different. Frank can win at places that are hard to win at. I think that is all we really know, any of these other silly debates about he and oscar turn into pissing matches among loyalists. How Frank recruits in the short to medium will tell us a lot about how good he is. Turnover and retention are always issues everywhere, but good recruiting should solve that problem. I don't think Frank is really ruining kids with his style of coaching. I think they need to locate players that can handle the style. He's brought in a lot of 3 stars lately, if they can play his style, that's good enough talent to win and play in March often. This is not some generational struggle between hard nosed, out of touch coaching guy and youngsters who are soft and weak. They'll locate the right guys eventually. And yea, he took them to a Final 4. Pretty much none of us have been alive to see that happen at KSU.
Also, John Currie ruined all of the fun.

Frank did get local players to SC when he first got there. Now he isn't. Even after the hype of a final four. He'll need to produce some results this year or be in jeopardy of losing his job. Pretty hard to judge how good his team can be this year til they are half way through the SEC.
-

He would have been the only one. Everyone thought it was Clemson or Duke. That's another issue for Frank, he's been passed by Clemson. It's one thing to be the second choice in a state when the first is Kansas, it's another to be a secondary choice to Clemson basketball.

You seem to like pointing out Frank's failings. If that's true, why? I don't get it.
-
Because I can’t believe the state of their program after their final 4 run. It’s a 2018 Frank watch thread. This board took a weird turn when we lost Frank and anyone who tried to remain positive, got clowned on. I just can’t believe we’re here 7 years later.
-
well we really love frank, so it's not that hard
-
well we really love frank, so it's not that hard
Did you see the pics of him, though? :embarrassed:
-
damn, frank is in his 7th year at usc.
still love him and dont see a problem with others still loving him. it's way more dumb that people don't give oscar credit for doing a great job so far.

They're going to finish the season with a losing record, bud. Look at their schedule.

Oh yea, they're crap this season. I said the Stony Brook loss isn't all the damning because they could be, and seem to be, decent. At his point though, they look to be .500 going into conference play.
-
I still don't see how they can fire him after this season tho. I mean, they obviously could, but I don't think they will.
-
SC was like really really bad before Martin. Getting them to a FF should warrant a lifetime extension.

This point is so overused. Especially in today's basketball where you can be a year away from turning over a team if you hire the right coach.

Loyola Chicago made the final 4. It's a single elimination tournament. Weird crap can happen.

And stfu about Stony Brook not being a bad loss. That's a terrible loss to a low major program. Fort Hays would beat Stony Brook.

I'd say he's gone, but I don't think SC really gaf.
-
I don't think he'll be in trouble until next year but he could use a bright spot to point to. A recruiting win would go a long way right now.
-
Agreed.
-
Man, Frank and Brad... :frown:
-
2-7 is bad, but that Illinois schedule is brutal. What were they thinking?
-
oscar gonna have more wins than Frank and Unds combined?
-
I think Brad made the right move financially but sucks for his legacy. Maybe he will turn it around or get another chance if he gets fired though.

I honestly don't follow them enough to know. Reading the SC and Illinois message boards, sounds like man to man pressure defense without guys like Pullen and crew is hard to pull off. Need really good athletes who know how to guard one on one. Otherwise, you get lots of breakdowns and chasing like Underwood had at OSU til he reined in the pressure.
Also sounds like SC does not have a good point guard and does not shoot threes well. Sounds like our team this year but at a much higher level of dysfunction. I still think it is early in the year for SC and they could start performing better. However, the season is moving on and they are running out of time.
-
Frankuary is in 2019.
-
He struggled with offense at times here. I wonder if losing assistants like Brad and whoever else were pretty costly in that department.
-
They didn't look bad in Ann Arbor against a very good Michigan team. Don't underestimate Frank's ability to roll through the bottom half of the SEC, but the top half seems to have more depth this year, so this noncon could screw them come selection Sunday. NIT Frank.
-
I don’t understand relishing in franks failures. He was awesome to us.
-
I don’t understand relishing in franks failures. He was awesome to us.
He loves us, but we don't consider him "family". I think we need to look deep inside ourselves.
-
He left us because he hated his boss. I have a hard time feeling sorry for him. We gave him the opportunity and he left when times got tough (like players wanting to leave because of his BS).
-
By far the most likable coach in history tho. I really liked him as a human being, but who on this earth doesn’t want to feel like they won the trade)
-
He left us because he hated his boss. I have a hard time feeling sorry for him. We gave him the opportunity and he left when times got tough (like players wanting to leave because of his BS).
I think that's why I don't respect him. He gave ahelluva lot of lip service to players /media about how life isn't easy and you gotta be tough. Then it got kinda tough for him and he tucked tail and went to usc of all places. I spend about 1 second per year hoping he fails, but really just don't care, it was his choice.
-
Yes, we would all "stick it out" at jobs where our boss hates us
-
Yes, we would all "stick it out" at jobs where our boss hates us
Oh I'd switch in a heartbeat. I also tell anyone willing to talk to me about such things that they should do what's best for them and their family. Never do I say they should tough it out. Frank is a hypocrite.
-
I think he was well compensated to be "good to us." I think it would be great if there was more to it than that, but there really just isn't.

Do you think his message of toughness/commitment was significantly different from any other coach's?
-
frank likes to capitalize 'I' too much. about half the cocks unhappy. kinda like when he was snortin and crankin here at the close, i guess.

Have you seen that latest video where the entire thing was him talking about how bad to the bone he is? So, yes.

Uh, he wasn't hypocritical at all, he let players leave early for the league and never blocked a transfer. Talking about toughness and overcoming adversity in the course of a game or a group of games doesn't translate to moves about your career. And lol acting as if going from K-State to South Carolina is unfathomable. The only thing we provided him that he doesn't have there is better fan support.
-
frankie got run. he brought the male genitals offer to currie and the man said 'see ya, dude.' end of story.
-
3-0 in the SEC, @ vandy tomorrow night
-
He might make it to double digit wins this season yet!

How much longer do you think Frank will coach for? He looks kinda rough.

This SC team is not that talented, yet Frank has them undefeated in conference. I think Frank keeps on proving himself and the haters don't want to pay any attention.
-
Frank is a good coach, and you really can expect improvement in his teams throughout the year, but it’s not like a win over Vandy constitutes some kind of turning point. They got a long season ahead still.
-
where’s wacky?
-
What up? They're not making the tourney. I'm happy they got their crap together tho. If K-State was 9-7 right now, this board would burn oscar Weber's house down.
-
He'd certainly have more latitude if he recruited better and had a final four here.
-

He puts in tremendous effort for lackluster results on the recruiting front. Pretty amazing to see what Chris Beard has done from a talent influx at TTU and compare it to oscar.

Yeah, two first team B12 players sucks donkey balls. We deserve four. :emawkid:

Lamont Evans pleads guilty to bribery charge
Jan 31, 2019
ESPN News Services
A third former college basketball coach accused of accepting thousands of dollars in bribes to steer players to certain financial advisers and managers once they turned pro pleaded guilty to a federal conspiracy bribery charge Wednesday in New York.
Former South Carolina and Oklahoma State assistant Lamont Evans, who was accused of accepting $22,000 in bribes, entered the plea in New York federal court to conspiring to commit bribery. He admitted receiving $22,000 to steer players at South Carolina and Oklahoma State to certain financial advisers and business managers, attorney Johnny McCray said.
Evans also agreed to forfeit the bribe money he received from two financial advisers as part of the deal he signed Wednesday.
EDITOR'S PICKS
Richardson pleads guilty to one felony count
Emanuel "Book" Richardson, one of three former assistant coaches arrested in September 2017 as part of the FBI's investigation into college basketball corruption, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one felony count of conspiracy to commit bribery.
Ex-USC coach pleads guilty in corruption case
Tony Bland, former assistant basketball coach for USC, pleaded guilty to a single conspiracy count Wednesday in a criminal case in which prosecutors said bribes were paid to steer top athletes to certain schools.
"I now know that accepting those funds in exchange for introducing them to any one player was wrong and violated the law,'' he said.
Sentencing was set for May 10 on a charge that carries the potential for up to five years in prison, though a plea agreement between Evans and prosecutors recommends no more than two years behind bars.
Judge Edgardo Ramos also warned that he could be deported because he is a citizen of Barbados, though he lives in Florida. He was a resident of Stillwater, Oklahoma, at the time of his arrest.
U.S. Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman said in a statement that Evans abused his position as a mentor and coach for personal gain.
"A scheme Evans apparently thought was a slam dunk actually proved to be a flagrant foul,'' he said.
"He accepted responsibility for what happened," McCray said. "He will be making a vigorous appeal for the lowest sentence possible,"
Two other former assistant coaches -- Arizona's Emanuel "Book" Richardson and USC's Tony Bland -- have already pleaded guilty to the same charge. The trio was arrested in September 2017 as part of the FBI's investigation into college basketball corruption.
The two men accused of bribing the coaches -- former Adidas consultant Merl Code and Christian Dawkins, a runner for former NBA agent Andy Miller, are scheduled to go on trial in U.S. District Court in Manhattan in April.
Code, Dawkins and Adidas executive James Gatto were convicted of federal fraud charges in October for funneling money from Adidas to the parents and/or guardians of high-profile recruits to steer them to sign with Adidas-sponsored schools, including Kansas, Louisville and NC State. They are scheduled for sentencing in that case March 5.
Former Auburn assistant Chuck Person and former NBA referee Rashan Michel are scheduled to go to trial in June. Person is accused of soliciting and accepting $91,500 in bribes from an undercover cooperating witness to influence Auburn players to sign with certain financial advisers.
ESPN's Mark Schlabach contributed to this report.

 have you been paying attention to this? In a word, no. This doesn't put anything in jeopardy.
-
Honestly, no. I have not.
-
Outside of Louisville overreacting and firing Pitino, there has been no consequence for existing programs or current coaches. Guilty pleas and verdicts for 6 guys and I believe 3 players who lost eligibility.
-

No one is getting hammered

Everyone pled out, bud.
-
No one, as in any program, is getting hammered. The NCAA is too chicken crap for that anymore. It'll be par for the course, adults doing bad by kids, either through bribery or through the design and legitimization of a system that penalizes them for valuable labor. Let them go pro, eliminate athletic scholarships.
-
If PSU didn't get hammered, and they didn't, for a coach raping kids in the shower, nobody is ever getting hammered by the NCAA ever again.

We need to stop the rationalization of bad behavior. High school basketball players can and have skipped college to go pro. Zion Williamson could have easily gone to Europe and still been the #1 pick in the 2019 draft. Silvia de Sousa could have and probably should have just went to Europe instead of KU. If we were not in the one and done era, he almost certainly wouldn't have been drafted straight out of IMG. Schools and players cheated before one and done and they will again after it's gone in a couple of years.

Yea, he always was a loud foul mouthed MF.
-
They beat a top 10 on the road and lose at home to Stetson in a two game stretch.
-
More of us at the time he was here, myself included, should had spoken out about his abusive behavior.
-
Thank god Currie had the stones that the fan base did not
-
There's no way they retain him past this season, right?
-

I did not and still do not give a crap. I would take him back in a heartbeat, Stetson loss and all. (Which btw, that two game stretch is classic Frank. )
-
Exactly why some of our fans are weird AF!
-
That video just looks like he is probably frustrated at telling someone for the second time to go to the scorer's table and check-in, but there might be some more context I'm missing. I can see where that is another drop in the bucket in his behavior though if someone is getting sick of him.
I still love him and would welcome him back but understand why some wouldn't.
-
He's plainly abusive, you neanderthals.
-
Beat UK tonight

Meanwhile, we have the #21 recruiting class compared to SCU's #75...so jelly

Remember when we discussed the general idea that winning makes everything fun? I think we should add a caveat for people who are extremely bitter.
Also, IT'S BEEN EIGHT YEARS!!!
-
Yeah the 8 years is pretty lol

Lmao, says this guy. Forgot winners talk smack on coaching poses for pics and vids, not on what may actually influence winning. Dork

It didn't bother me then like it does now. I may have been rationalizing his shitty behavior because so many players love him and it was fun to watch his teams play basketball, but he's a sick sadistic eff. (And that video wasn't that bad)

I honestly still can’t believe there are still Frank backers at this point. He was a fun fling, but since we dated, he got super bloated, no ones heard from him in years, and he moved in with his cousins down south somewhere. Might be on the edge of unemployment soon.
-
So how are fans going to feel when Diarra returns this summer to his home state as a grad student transfer to play for Frank?
-
Lol wut
-
lol, stfu 'fried. Frank might not have a job next year.
