I miss it. Last night's game was a crap show for sure, and the type of debacle the used to lead to some pretty decent convo here.
I came on last night and it was crickets, so I went over to KSO and took advantage of the free subscription hoping to find something there. Woof. Browns hollering at browns about brown level talking points. Kinda nice to read the stories though, I guess.
It's my opinion that the smartest, most knowledgeable and humourous Cat fans still reside on this board. I know most of us are on Twitter, etc., but it's not really the same. What happened? Are we all just over it? I know I've been pretty apathetic the last couple of seasons, but felt this team had/ has a decent shot to do something.
Last night's game was infuriating yet humorous (since we actually ended up winning). The type that would at least result in a few meltdowns.
What's it gonna take for gE to re-engage? I miss it.

Get _FAN to come back(which won’t happen until we get new posters who aren’t always negative and actually contribute decent talking points) because without stats there isn’t much to start convos besides bitching about stuff at this point.
Get Bill and staff to do something or be something that hasn’t already been discussed or bitched about 30 times over already. It’s the same thing, every game, it’s been discussed, nobody cares.

It's been a pretty slow offseason. No renovations. Recruiting seems slower to develop than normal which is hard to believe. Hopefully now that the season has started they'll give us something to get excited about!

Pretty much. Us going 8-4 with bizarro clock management, Snyder saying weird stuff in postgame, etc. just doesn’t move the needle anymore after a few years of rinse and repeat.
I lost a lot of zeal after Sams left. This season is the first since that I really decided to buy in.

i still get super emaw and excited during games but between them i'm just meh. i think part of it is growing up more, having other priorities. and doesn't seem like there's any college students here to bring some energy and zeal.

There is a LOL'able dearth of talent on this team.
The fact that fanboys have to dig so deep to find talent, tells us all we need to know.
Now apparently we've got a whole bunch of assistant/associate head coaches/co-coordinators who think they're running the show on gameday. The fact that this is occurring after this staff and their supposed roles were all named months ago, and all have been at K-State for years, is extremely telling.

Rivals firing FITZ killed it, or at least dealt it a death blow.
Every ying needs a yang and when rivals fired Fitz, he limped off into obscurity at 247 and his hatred of gE faded into the sunset. The new guard at KSO is tolerant of the ilk that used to live here that never bothered to post there, so a lot of the chatter here has diminished it seems.
Lastly, we need new blood... it’s the kids/students that made this place great with their excess time and creative ideas. As you dolts have grown up & graduated, it’s become stale.
Perhaps you townies could set up a table at the union and have a membership drive or something.

It's not this board in particular. I'm getting older, K-State football stays the same. My soon-to-be-in-laws are all LSU fans and I'm having a crapton more fun getting familiar with all of that.

The same on a slightly lesser level several years ago.
Now it’s the debate between two mediocre QB’s surrounded by FCS “talent”.

Internet message boards in general have all dropped off in attendance thanks to Twitter and Facebook. The next generation doesn't see message boards as the place to go anymore to discuss any topic. Also yes, interest in football in general is down. There's declining attendance at the games, and the TV views are also dropping as people continue to cut the cable cord and go find something else to do with their Saturdays.
I'll be here, lurking, until the bitter end though.

I still love and appreciate goEMAW and don't get me wrong it has held a solid spot in my heart. Last summer working two jobs and a big hit to my family life (death) has kept me from goEMAW. I have been doing other things this fall, I have started a subreddit that i'm sure you guys have seen around r/wabashcannonball and am a mod over there. I run the KSDBfm.org website and am slammed with 16 hours this fall in my junior year but hey i'm not complaining. I have never been real active on the football boards, I'm usually more of a basketball because i find it easier to talk about and to relate to as I played basketball most of my life.
This season for football is gonna be rough, I'm just hoping it isn't gonna be as bad as I think. I appreciate all of you guys and I know all of these great pakheads will be around for this team through the good and the bad and the ugly because thats what we do.
HOWEVER OUR COORDINATORS ARE TRASH AND NEED TO FIGURE THEMSELVES OUT BEFORE WE GET STOMPED BY MISS ST.
Also have been coordinating with Winters and should be making an appearance at Fattyfest. :lynchmob:

I've lurked and seldom posted since KSUfans days of yore. I'm trying to pick up the pace and contribute more as I see the board dwindle. The humor here intimidated me for a long time, but idgaf anymore if people don't like how I post.
Idk if it will ever be what it was, even if the football team is great again. I think that's ok. It's an older format of discussion but there is still a community here. I'd really hate to see it go.

I don't post much, I really love goEMAW though. Lately, I have felt it has taken a dive because all of the threads get clogged up with a few posters spilling their dark brown poster crap.
I used to love this time of the year, I'd read good things and analysis on ge and indulge my guilty pleasures of reading threads on the Phog, and then reading them after their first loss and subsequent meltdown ( I cannot and won't help it, it is better than any drug I've put into my body).
Lately, this site has gotten closer to being Phog status, as far as the posting quality goes, and there are a few people to blame. It usually starts with a decent find/question, and then gets bogged down with dipshits.
I'll be here to the bitter end. I started as a poster that was PI'd to oblivion because I didn't understand this board. I regrouped, renamed and started again. Several people, (god bless the King), reached out to me and encouraged me to stay on after I made a few posts. It made me a better fan, and for that, I cannot give it up. Now everytime someone new comes along, Greg excluded, everyone pounces into them because they get an accomplished feeling? I never tried GPC first because I didn't want to see a whole lot of "omg did you see those boobies" bullshit. So I guess that is the reason I have not ventured over to KSO.
Goddammit people, the more I write, the more I get pissed. Remember all the great things this board has done? (insert member berries) Why can't we go back to that? I want more bbs national champs, I want more stolen phrases and mottos that the Athletic Department will use but I can still be all snobby and say that it started at goEMAW. I want more Ron Prince Love Sweepstakes. I want more.
I will do whatever is needed by me to keep this going. Stop being rough ridin' idiots.

The single biggest factor is oscar Weber. When basketball died, for me, so much of my interest in anything KSU-related died. Then, there's inevitability of Sean, President and AD nonsense, and red neck fans.
Within 5 years from now, I doubt I even notice a given "sports" season.

1. Posters are generally older now as a whole.
2. Convos are happening on Twitter instead, as mentioned. Super rough ridin' lame.
3. The football program is boring as hell and has been since Sams left, as someone mentioned. Snyder's milquetoast brand and game management is so unfun to talk about, and Sean is going to be more of the same. We need a coach search to liven this place up; a REAL one, not a dog and pony show so we can end up with Sean anyway.
4. Currie's gone. The Mustang is incredibly milquetoast as well. I hated Currie for what he did to Frank, but having a clear villain in your own #Family makes for great bbs'n.
5. Frank left and we got oscar. Even when we made the Elite Eight last year and equaled Frank's greatest feat at K-State, there is not one person here who thought that last year's season or tourney run was anywhere near as fun as the one in March 2010. I can almost guarantee it. (The most recent post on the basketball board is one I made in the Huggs/Holly Rowe thread and that was like five full days ago.)
6. Wacky hijacks a lot of threads out of nowhere and they're just not fun to read. (Bro, we got you your own board! Or just do it through PMs!)
7. MS Paint died, so CanCo can't really find his muse.
8. The Pit is crankin and siphoning BBS time because our current political climate is completely insane and people feel compelled to get things off their chest down there.
That's why the sports talk is suffering on gE.c.
