Yeah, I really don't get the obsession. Hence my Olive Garden remark. It's fine and all that, but it's merely one star in a constellation of good burger choices. I would never go far out of my way to eat there. Nor would I ever wait more than a few minutes.

I’m going to let you little dipshits in on little something. I live in a town of 50k people that does not have either and does not have a place as good as either. If I lived in a city that had one, that would mean that my city was pretty large and probably had other similarish places. some of them which might even be closer and then maybe that place would become my preferred place and I’d be all “yeah it’s good but I’m not driving 26 minutes for shake shack when I can just drive 4 and go to “_____”. I mean this isn’t rocket science but yet you two dumbfucks still need small town rick Daris to explain it to you. So yeah congrats I guess on living in a place with enough other humans living in the same place. You should both be very proud of that.

the difference between these two places is this- the best place about in-n-out is how cheap it is, the best part of shake shack is how good it is.

So let me get this right, this place serves both burgers and shakes? What a novel idea, whose unique character certainly deserves to be celebrated. I for one am glad that we are all gathered here to share in the excitement for what is sure to be a revelatory experience in eating both ground beef patties and drinking ice cream mixtures under one roof. I like to eat burgers from these sorts of places. They are good! Sometimes, though, the burgers are too big and it's just too much food to eat. Especially at lunchtime.

that's your city's rules and it's like that across the plaza. extended width sidewalks have to yield the regular sidewalk width (3ft?) to pedestrians. kona, zocallo, and parkway all come to mind. i'd prefer that the restaurants get no sidewalk space, talk to slyin and make it happen.

I ate lunch with Mrs Wacky downtown the other day and I had to do a double take coming out of the parking garage. I'm surprised no one has been tagged yet. They look like fun, but i'm not sure most folks who aren't use to driving downtown are ready for them yet.

just use the app, they allow 1 mobile order every 15 minutes. first one is 11:15 and so on until close. they open the day's mobile orders at 8 am. all spots are available at that time. you pay in the app. at your time they text you that it's ready and then just walk up to the counter and grab the chow.

So I finally made it in when it wasn’t a complete crap show, so this time I ordered.
Keeping in mind I quite literally passed: The crack burger at On Tap, Twisted Root Burger, Craft Burger, and the burgers at The Ridge just to name few. A shout out to the KU basketball fan who made The Ridge puke KU stuff over one wall, good work, friend.
I’ll rate the Shack Shack food experience of a double with cheese and crinkle cut fries a solid B overall, a solid A for a chain. I was hungry, which helped the rating.
Overall “store” condition at time of visit: C (that’s generous). Really not a good look for a “store” sitting at the crossroads of BHAM’s 3 most affluent ‘burbs in a typical upscale burb shopping district with a lot of other usual suspect upscale chain eateries on the same property. I typically avoid this area but made a Shake Shack exception.
Many foodies on a national level are talking up the BHAM food scene, recent BHAM Beard nominees and winners would seemingly bear witness to this, with under study’s going out on their own and staying local. Poster note: Not dying on the BHAM hill so don’t @me, just relaying what the culinary/foodie world is saying.
Next Burger Stop: Saw’s Soul Kitchen
Next weird combo stop: Raved about Thai Food out of a place call Hoover Food Mart, a converted quick mart. Recently lauded in Southern Living. We’ll see.
