I still have two baby teeth. what are your thoughts on that?
-
Wow! That's pretty awesome, SD. If they're not bothering your hygiene and you don't have a problem with them, leave those babies in. If you could do without them, get those babies pulled out. You guys should see some of the mouths i've looked at and baby teeth are still pretty in these days. :)

The #1 highest producing procedure for our practices is endodontics. Not a lot of dentist have this skill set, but if they do.... :kstategrad:
Endodontists are dentists who specialize in maintaining teeth through endodontic therapy -- procedures, involving the soft inner tissue of the teeth, called the pulp. The word "endodontic" comes from "endo" meaning inside and "odont" meaning tooth. Like many medical terms, it's Greek.
-
When alone at night lost in their own thoughts, do dentists really consider themselves to be doctors?
-
100%! However, they're probably super PAK'd when envisioning their greatness, so i'm sure they really don't give two fucks about it.
#1 suicide profession. :frown:
-
I apparently grind my teeth at night and have worn my back molar down, dentist is recommending some $500 custom mouth guard for sleeping with. Total scam right?

Go to Walmart and you can buy a mouth guard to stop teeth grinding that you basically fit to your own teeth the way you would a football mouthpiece. It costs about $5.
-
Total scam. Buy a football mouthpiece and call it a day.
-
Those things are like $10 at your local sporting goods store
-
75% of the time Dentists are trying to get you to upgrade a procedure to keep their doors open. <----- Not sure if that's a real number, but it feels that way.
-
And to think I let that monster work in my mouth
-
Anyone wanna guess how much debt they come out with after graduation?
-
Enough to make it the #1 most suicide job I would presume, which would have to be a crap ton.
-
How often do dentists get high on their own supply(of laughing gas)?
-
What’s the deal with that ultraviolet light gun thing they use?
-
Flossing, I’ve read it’s been proven to not do anything helpful and they’ve known since like the 70’s. Total scam?
-
Why do they want you to brush in little circles and not just in a big up and down horizontal pattern?

I have to run thorough background checks before moving forward with dentists. I've seen quite a few out there who've done this, but they're idiots if they do, because it goes on a national database and they'll never ever be able to be insured after that. Most lose their licenses. Probably 1 out of 2500 dentists I would assume. They usually just stick to booze.
-
I’ve never had a cavity but some people have like a thousand of them. Are those people just really susceptible to scams? Seems like cavities are a scam
-

Out of my wheelhouse. Probably just a gimmick they spend too much $ on for nothing. Flossing, I’ve read it’s been proven to not do anything helpful and they’ve known since like the 70’s. Total scam?
It helps. It would be in their best interest if you didn't do it tho. :)Why do they want you to brush in little circles and not just in a big up and down horizontal pattern?
Myth, they want you to think they know stuff.

50/50 getting scammed. I have had one dentist tell me i have 3 cavities and went to another dentist a month later (Awesome reviews) and he said my teeth look great.
-
Still have my wisdom teeth. It means I am smarter correct?
-
Obviously! In the long run it can cause problems, but i'd just wait. No rush.
-
I'm in my 30s, never had a cavity, two baby teeth don't even have any cavities. do I actually need to get the xrays all the time? seems like they are charging me to zap me with nuclear cancer rays which is a lose lose for me.
-
Nope. Wanna hear something funny? I've been working in the industry for 3 years now and hadn't been to the dentist for 6 years until this year. Still cavity free. They recommend every 6 months. I mean, use your insurance and keep getting cleanings, just laugh in their faces when they try to push a procedure and none of your teeth are hurting.
-
Dentist are key tho for ppl who've never had the means to take care of themselves and meth heads and stuff. Also, people chip their teeth all the time and stuff like that. I mean, this has to happen a lot. The industry keeps growing and growing.
-
I got 4 wisdom teeth removed (which was a blast, btw), and afterward when I went to the dentist he said that I had a fifth wisdom tooth still hanging out in there!
Shouldn't this have been something they noticed before they the procedure?
-
My dentist wants me to get something called a deep cleaning. That's an obvious scam right?
-

Holy crap! Yes, ask them how they missed it. That's a really rare case.

 Insurance pays for it. Go for it. You always feel great afterwards.

This happened like 10 years ago. It's usually a story I bust out during high end cocktail parties.

Before or after you ask where they went to school?
-
If one of our dentist would have missed that the first time, we probably would have received a huge complaint and had to do a crap load of paperwork.
Ok, gotcha. Pretty great stopry tbh.
-
Also, before you go to your next dentist, let me know where they went to school. I need to let you know whether they're trash or not. You're welcome!
-
I went to a consult about getting my wisdom teeth removed and the "doctor" was like "hey, I'm running like 5 minutes ahead today, I can just pull them right now if you want." So he did and then I drove home.
Scam?

Didn’t realize we had some kind of Cro-Magnon over here with five wisdom teeth.

I have to think so. Unless they tried to put braces on you later I don’t see how they could just pull a wisdom tooth unless the tooth already came in enough without jacking up your other teeth (in which case you could just leave it there).

Nope. We do that. Emergency cases!
-
Really great dentist can do 3rd molar surgical extractions in no time. He sounds like what I would record as an “A” dentist to my higher execs. Was it painful at all, lib?
-
Good docs do same day dentistry and do it because they’re highly skilled, confident, and know what they’re doing. I’d refer that dentist. Not making you comeback in for a follow up is doing you a huge favor.
-
Root canals sound like another kind of scam. Hey you already have 23 cavities because you are very gullible, how about this $9000 procedure where we “save” a tooth. Please...SCAM!
-
I mean, I get it, it will eventually need to come out tho. I’ve seen that crap rip through people’s skin for waiting. Also, if you’re paying that much, run!
-
:sdeek:
-
What’s the most legit procedure that a dentist can do?
-
Cavities and extractions.
-
Just ask for X-rays on cavities and send them to me.
-
are those long tubes that connect their equipment still filled with death water? Saw a 20/20 special on that back in the day that scared me.
-
I’ve never been to or know of a female dentist. Is it still a boys club that holds down women?
-

lol. Nah. I’ve never been to or know of a female dentist. Is it still a boys club that holds down women?
Some of the best dentist I recruit are International Dentist from India and they are Awesome. They negotiate their tails off, but they are totally worth it. Female dentist are gentler through the process.
-
My dentist is a female. She took over a practice from another female. Both are super smart. Current one is hella hot too. Would bang if single.

Louisville or Lexington?
-
Louisville. Both are UL grads.
-
:driving: Louisville is better.
-
Just saying UK sucks, you should be fine.

Rutgers, huh? Well I’d love to hear some more scarlet knight wisdom from you, I’ll tell you that much. And speaking of wisdom, I had five wisdom teeth instead of just four. they didn’t even know until they got in there.

Total scam. Buy a football mouthpiece and call it a day.
my friend said you need the special ones that are hard because soft ones make you grind harder.
my question is i need periomaintenance done, and have been to 2 dentists in town. one is a perio specialist in a nice office but i barely felt anything when she did it so made me think she didn't clean deep enough. another is just a normal dentist, and it hurt like a bitch, but i felt like she really got everything. in places in other cities i been in the past, it always hurt. which one should i go to?
-
Always go to the specialist. It's worth it in the end.

My jaw has always been a little jacked. A bit of clicking and i have to reset a lot especially when eating. Some times it will completely lock, which sucks. Seems to be getting worse if anything, but still not like a huge problem. I've read that since its been this long I'm probably fracked and if I want to do anything about it, i'll prob have to have it broken and fixed. This seems like an awful thing. My dentist says I need to see an ortho, but i'm too lazy to set it up. Thoughts?
Also, why is the in network vs out of network so stupid?

JFC! This sounds like my worst nightmare. T's & P's my friend. Insurance sucks for all things, so I can't help you there, but I'd definitely see a specialist if it's effecting your life in a negative manner. I literally have nightmares about a locked jaw. That sounds awful! I'm sorry you're dealing with that.

I'm going to write you a prescription for two knuckle sandwiches.

How many teeth can I get pulled and still effectively eat food? Starting from the molars and working my way in.

Do you like soup? Because if you do, you can get them all pulled. Maybe get implants if they're that bad and you can gnaw on steak all day.

What are the top dental schools? Top ones in the area?
UMKC is the only dental school I have ever heard of, where do they rank in the hierarchy?

UMKC is actually a pretty decent dental school. Top schools that I like getting docs from are Boston U, Colorado, Case, Tufts, Michigan, and NYU.
-
Does Monmouth have a dental school? Sacre bleu, mon mouth!
-
lol. No.

If you're not opposed to chiropractors, my ex had her TMJ fixed with chiro adjustments. Maintenance required but didn't require a broken jaw.

Is that why she ended up being your ex?

I don't think the chiro have her the bone. I do know the auto body shop owner and a car salesman did.

Did she end up achieving the insurance adjuster for the Triple Crown?

She sticks to the auto industry apparently.
