Parents, I need some deets on this. I'm seeing a lot Facebook friends taking their kids to school as of yesterday. Wtf is happening with this country? What's the point of being a teacher if you don't get a solid 3 months off? Back in my day we started on my birthday in early September. This is the opposite of MAGA.

School ends around May 20th starts around August 15th... seems like 3 months to me

Early August just seems insane to me. When and how and why did we start moving up the start date for school? I have a meeting in 4 minutes, but I wanna put a pin on this topic.

We always started school the second week of August. If anything, a lot of schools seem like they are starting late to me.

Trying to make a person has given me a new respect for school year round. Although, I would think you'd get burned out in that system.

If I had to go to school in early August, I wouldn't listen to crap until September 1st, just to make a point.

I lived in KCMO and went to Hickman Mills schools until 7th grade, then I moved to Shawnee Mission. In those Hickman Mills days, there was no spring break, Christmas break was like a week, and school started after labor day. In SM there were longer breaks but an earlier start to the school year. It hasn't really changed much with the calendar since I was in high school except maybe creeping back in August.
What's weird to me is in Seattle my nephews start school in mid september and go to late june. that's weird.

In my experience most students make up for the early start by not listening to crap from March - May.

Man, we were poor af growing up. I usually ate at school, but my goddamn lunch card would run out of $ all the time. It was embarrassing.

Kids in year round school get breaks all the time. That would be a lot better than one big 3 month break.

Ya, those! Extra Sour Cream.
Crispito and Stromboli days were something to look forward too. Those were about the only days I could get extra. Also yes Wacky, you loaded those crispitos up with extra sour cream and salsa :lick:

9 in 10 were delicious and 1 in 10 was the worst thing ever.

We got to leave for lunch my Senior year at Eudora. We’d all go to Gambinos pizza for a 2.99 all you could eat pizza. I legit had weightlifting right after lunch too. Wtf was I thinking?

My oldest starts kindergarten on Tuesday. He’ll turn 5 next Sunday. I swear I was older when I started school, but nope.
