Title: Let’s just get it on the table
Post by: gatoveintisiete on July 17, 2018, 10:02:36 PM
Do you believe that Trump is compromised to Russia and/or  do you believe that Trump has a working relationship with the Russian government that would benefit either Trump or Russia at the expense of the United States.

*note that I am not asking if you believe Russia independently effed with our politics.

Probably

I think he has financial entanglements for decades with Russian type people just from doing business on the "edge".

I don't necessarily think those things are the only driver for him to want to be friendly with Russia.

I believe Trump is financially compromised by Russia in some way (money laundering, debt, proof of corruption, etc), and I believe he would put his own interests ahead of the United States.

Yeah what 8man said. There is a long history of him, his casinos, Russia and cash business deals that don’t make business sense. There’s probably something there.

Russia unloaded almost the entirety of its US treasury holdings because of sanctions.

Nearly $100bn dollars worth.

Right about the same time Putin was meeting with Xi was the last dump of US treasuries by Russia.

Definitely compromised. I think that is obvious by the financial picture alone. As for meddling, I do tend to buy into the “too stupid to collude” defense, but I think he was aware of what was going on initially and didn’t care.

Entanglements with Russia? Sure.  Outright COLUSION, no.

But nothing to date that’s been done in the real world during his presidency as helped Russia.

Sanctions are hurting Russian oligarchs, Ukraine and Georgia sent high tech anti tank weapons, defense spending up, more US troops and tanks closer to Russian border, more ships in the Black Sea.

The no COLUSION thing that he keeps hammering for the last 2 years is actually your tip-off here, whenever Trump does this it always ends up that he is on the high ground.

I don’t disagree. But trying to say items like the seemingly open door policy of NATO doesn’t need a substantial review is ridiculous.

How many countries do we want to be placed into possibly having to go to war over?   One day “can’t be the worlds policeman” the next, “let’s be the worlds policeman because Trump”.  Dumb.

So things have been done in the real world. Maybe you just misspoke and should have included a "something" instead of "nothing"? That seems popular way to backtrack.

Being a part of a large alliance of western powers makes us far less likely to end up at war than not being a part of that alliance. If leaders of France, Germany, and the UK were talking about NATO the way that Trump does, to the point that it would be reasonable to think they might not honor the alliance, then I would agree that maybe it's not in our interest to be a part of it.

You really think russia got dirt on trump and threatened to use it against him unless he successfully won the presidential election and promised to help them (even though all of his actual actions have been to hurt them)????

I assume the "financial entanglements" not mentioned in the OP are some 1980's loan from a russian bank for a million dollars, which is a drop of piss in the bucket of his net worth.

See what happened was fsd, Russians are stone cold geniuses like myself and knew the day in 2015 when Trump came down the escalator that he would defeat all 17
pubs for the nomination and then whip Hillarys ass so they went to him then and made a deal for him to sell out the United States of America when he won and they
were so confident that they were not in the least bit worried that the plan would fail and they would be exposed.  That's just the way rl works.

Obama and Clinton are in on it, right? They shitcanned any agency effort to investigate "meddling" and before that gave russia a bunch of uraniam, let russia conquer crimea and ukraine and proxy state syria, and gave russia proxy state iran billions of dollars to build nukes and sponsor terrorism.  Clinton and Donald go way back, so you don't even need a John Nash incoherent web of yarn and newspaper clippings to get there.

Some people just can’t  reconcile how badly their guys got worked if what they believe about Trump turns out to be true.   If it is true, and then we add it to the overall list:

It’ll be the greatest period of total domination of a Russian administration over a US presidency since the end of WW II.  It will solidify the era of post election flexibility as the greatest geopolitical bend over ever.

Democrats Embracing Crazy Could Be A Gift To The GOP
The Democratic Party should be living the dream this year – midterm elections always favor the party out of power. Yet they, and their advocates in the media, are doing everything they can to blow it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea that they’d blow it, but it is weird how they seem more interested in embracing crazy than they are in winning.

Democrats love to accuse Republicans of being the conspiracy theory party, mostly due to a few fringe players the media portrays as conservatives rather than the cranks they really are. Had you ever heard of Orly Taitz before she became the face of birtherism? Probably not because there was no reason to. But you would have thought she was a Chair of the Republican Party by the way this unknown was portrayed by the media. And surely some people listen to Alex Jones, but no one with any influence does. He’s a conspiracy theorist yelling into an empty field, but he’s covered like he’s Rush Limbaugh.

Of less interest to the media is the conspiracy loons on the left who, thanks to shoddy and biased reporting, have spent the last 18 months actually believing Donald Trump conspired with Vladimir Putin to steal the election. Worse, according to a new YouGov/Economist poll believe the Russians actually changed votes to throw the election to Trump.

Yes, 55 percent of Democrats actually believe the idea that Russia changed votes to favor Trump, either “definitely” or “probably” happened. That’s “forget the grassy knoll, Kennedy committed suicide” level conspiracy stupid. For this to be true it would not only require Trump and Putin to have conspired together, but for everyone investigating that alleged COLUSION to have been in on it as well since everyone investigating it, from Congress to the Justice Department, has said no votes were changed.

The back and forth between Trump and Obama is amazing, I don't know where it started maybe the birther troll, then Obama trolls trump at that dinner, then Trump announces for Prez, then Obama mocks his chances, then Trump steamrolls the White House, then Obama creeps on his campaign, then Trump wins, then Obama makes up Russia and tries to take down his Presidency, then Trump starts dismantling everything Obama did...… its been a pretty hilarious battle.
