Title: Bats
Post by: CHONGS on May 31, 2018, 07:03:55 PM
Is it really fair to call them rodents?  Or is that outdated?  I mean they can fly and that has to count for something.

Interesting angle....I bet capybaras don't like getting lumped in with those one tiny bats that eat flies.

-scene- sd bro's cow farm house just outside of Meade, KS. There is a cookout happening. It's like 6 PM. The date is last weekend. The drink level is like 3 vodka sodas. the people involved are sd, lil sd, local Meade, KS guy sd knows, sd dad, and sd cow farmer bro.

sd bro: there are over a trillion bats in that old barn.

sd: lil sd, let's go check his stats.

sd dad: here's a flashlight

sd: ok

(sd, lil sd, and this other guy you people don't know or have anyone to relate him to walk over to this barn....it immediately gets incred noisy. like sucking air between your teeth sound but like a jet engine level of it. it smells like what bat poop smells like. I shine the flashlight at the ceiling)

sd: oh man, there are over a trillion bats in here.
(they are like the size of a mouse with wings and not giant rough ridin' face hugger alien sized freak ones. pretty cute.)

lil sd: it smells. why is that old oven in here?

Bats are great for many reasons, not the least of which is their ability to adroitly maneuver around you before you even see them coming. They're like the opposite of dumbass jellyfish...

Why was the oven there????!!!

it's a mystery. also tons of old wood, farm equipment wheels and tires, empty paper sacks farmers collect for no reason, you name it. just like every other barn in the entire world.

I feel like all barns have some hidden treasure somewhere.

I saw one in the hallway once.  It makes you rethink a lot of things.

Is it weird that I have a semirecurring dream where I am having sex with a human size bat (or maybe I've shrunk, can't really tell) but it then it reveals itself to be Edward James Olmos?

It has become clear that the opportunity for growth and learning is presently lacking in this thread, so I will refrain from participating until further notice.

mostly just garbage and old wheels and tires and bats and baby kittens that you will never be able to domesticate after they reach like 1 month old because they are wild AF

sprac is biased because austin has this weird thing with bats.

bats serve their purpose, but i never want to see them.  their erratic flight pattern is unseemly.

do you ever see a bat and then later realize that it’s not a bat but actually a wallace’s flying frog?

We got moved to a different room at my grandparents-in-law because there was supposedly a bat in the basement. My sons started pushing up the ceiling tiles looking for it. No bats were found.

Did your kids think bats crawled up under ceiling tiles to hang out?

I think they thought they would find something really cool, but all they found was that a Louisville slugger will break through 30 year old ceiling tiles.

when i lived in my frat house during the summer of 2010, there were plenty of bats.

we agreed to paint the interior rooms in exchange for free board.  the rooms were all disasters.  sheets and clothes everywhere.  one afternoon i was painting and moved one of the sheets and yep, there was a bat under it quivering.  very unsettling.

then one night there was a bat (could have been the same one?) flying around the hallways.  we trapped it in a wicker cornucopia and let it out outside.
