Here’s my recipe
1 - Intentionally buy more bananas than we will eat
2 - Let a few get really brown
3 - Say “Hey mrs tdaver, we should do something with these bananas”
4 - Come home to fresh banana bread the next day

Have tried lots of different varieties, but her standard has blueberries and a little lemon zest.  No nuts. :lick:

But can you post her actual recipe?

I will officially allow muffin talk here. But let's keep it banana related.

That little tidbit at the bottom of the recipe is intriguing.  About omitting nuts and adding blueberries instead.  What an idea.

Overruled. We have a muffin master thread already.

I do not like banana bread and it troubles me that people actually think it's acceptable to give as a gift.

Blueberry muffins are great tho

obviously blueberry muffins are great.  i don't know anything that touches a blueberry that isn't great tbh.

pclams thinks banana bread is too stringy lol.
Title: Re: Banana bread
Post by: pissclams on May 24, 2018, 10:02:16 AM
i bet it is tbh, never had it though i imagine it is loaded with strings.  the strings are probably the only component of the banana that can withstand the oven temperatures required to bake a loaf of bread lmao

It did not even occur to me that there could be people on this earth who don't like banana bread. Thought it was universally beloved. Hmm.

It’s the only way to go.  Separates the banana bread pros from the amateurs.

How about zucchini bread/cake?  I’ll tell you.  It’s also amazing.  Especially if you throw some raisins in there.

i stand with clams on banana bread (which isn't even a bread, obviously.  it's either a cake or a giant pan muffin).  but not on carrot cake, which isn't great but isn't bad.

controversial opinion:  carrot cake would be more popular if it were called carrot bread.

we're in the trust tree so i'm just going to out with it: coffee cake and carrot cake are indistinguishable to me

Coffee cake is great and carrot cake sucks.

Print that out, laminate it, and keep it in your pocket for future reference

If I'm going to eat carbs like that, I want something that tastes REALLY rough ridin' good. I don't want banana bread in the same way I don't want off brand chocolate.

Banana bread and carrot cake are both great but I feel like they are in the same family so they should both be the same thing (bread or cake) not one of each.

Or is carrot a cake simply because you put frosting on it?

My favorite carrot cake ever is served at J Alexander's.  I think my carrot cake enjoyment is directly proportional to the quality of the cream cheese frosting on the cake.

Unlike carrot cake, I like banana break without frosting...I don't think I have ever had it WITH frosting.   Does this make banana bread superior to carrot cake, or does it make it simply unoptimized?

I think Pete just figured out why banana bread is bread and carrot cake is cake

It’s zucchini season!  With raisins on the left and with blackberries on the right.
