A pile of goo or re-contextualized vegetables ain't meat. It should not be allowed to be called meet. If someone wants to be Vegan or whatever, that's fine, but don't crusaude to kill the critter eating industry.

The plant based proteins labeling is under the rule of FDA. I am not sure what their labeling requirements are regarding the use of meat terms in product names.
Meat is inspected and labeled by USDA-FSIS. I spent ten years in the processed meat business and there are standards of identity and very specific labeling requirements for everything from steak to ground beef to hot dogs.

At the time I was in the industry it was a poultry vs red meat turf war as chicken and turkey consumption increased due to perceived healthfulness of lean white meat. The turkey industry began using naming conventions once exclusive to red meats (ie- turkey bacon, turkey ham, turkey burgers).
Then you had the advent of the mechanically separated meats that were being incorporated into ground and emulsified products which caused a labeling uproar.
Then COOL was heavily supported by some in the meat industry as a way to create value from the made (born and raised) in the USA marketing approach.

Renocat- just the latest challenge for fans of "meat" which is derived from the skeletal muscles of certain animal species (cattle, pigs, chickens, turkeys).

Tom, perhaps you can help me with a disagreement some friends and I had the other day. What did the processed meat industry say about fish? Is fish meat?

Sounds like a question for Sister Jean. Fish fall under FDA. We looked at Surimi as binder in some testing, but never pursued it.

Segregate it to the flower section and leave Meat Section to us Carnivores
This get my protein crap has to stop.
Generally, the total digestible nutrient (TDN) value of poultry litter approximates 50 percent and crude protein averages 21 to 28 percent.
I ain't eating chicken crap just cause it has protein. Eat real meat.
