We had a Kobach thread, so I figured I would start a thread for what will probably be Kobach's biggest competitor for Governor.
Thoughts on Orman?
Seems to be left on social topics and right fiscally. I think he has a decent chance.
-
If he couldn't beat Pat Roberts, he won't beat Kobach. His only chance would be if there is not a democratic candidate, and there definitely will be one. He should sit this race out or run for the democratic nomination.

He is going to get Kobach elected.

Does svaty really not have a chance? That surprises me if so.

I don't think so.
-
Just fire up the old a vote for orman is a vote for obama google ad campaign again then I guess
-
He has a pretty decent Republican backing, but I don't think it will be enough.

Polling I've seen has Svaty solidly in the 2nd tier.
If I had to handicap the 3 way race (% of vote):
Kobach R ~50%
Kelly D ~30%
Orman I ~20%
Orman may finally figure out how to read a poll and get out, but I doubt it. I could also see an outside chance of Colyer getting nominated if enough other R's drop out or combine to be in single digits or something. Something pretty bad would have to come out about Kobach with regards to his voting fraud panel lawsuit, but I don't see Trump's RNC or even the RGA getting in the middle of the primary supporting Colyer over Koabch. I guess there could be an outside chance of Koch brothers coming out hard against Kobach, but I doubt it.
-
If Colyer wins, would that be considered his second term?
-
Orman’s strategy is to hope that Kobach gets tripped up by some sort of scandal. He can’t win outright but he can if Kobach stumbles. It’s not that bad of a strategy given all the knives that are out for Kobach.
The only thing I can say about Orman is that I think he’s the guy who has a really weird, nerdy voice. Is that right? I’m not saying it’s fair to judge a person on that but politics ain’t fair. Nature didn’t do Ted Cruz any favors, either.

Yeah, his voice is grating.

Do you think Svaty can win the Dem nomination on an anti-abortion stance?
I originally thought Brewer had a chance but I guess he only really has a base in Wichita.
I like this Laura Kelly lady so far.

Kobach and Brownback are unpopular enough that I think whoever comes out of the democratic primary would have a chance. None of them would be the favorite, though, and none of them have any chance if Orman is in the race as an independent.

Team Svaty

Team Svaty
I think he’d be great but it looks like he has no chance
-
He is pretty great on the campaign trail. If he gets the Dem nod he will have a strong chance. He has been elected in a staunchly Republican District 4 times.
-
is it really a foregone conclusion that kobach will win the primary?

I think the huge number of candidates makes it pretty likely.

jfc, kansas 'pubs.
-
Being a total bag of crap is actually a requirement to win republican nomination now

Will he go in the mud to beat his dem primary rival?
-
We need another "immigration guy" to enter this race, really.

I am going to vote for Orman for Govenor. Stupid pubics will nominate Kobach. I would rathere have a nuclear strength laxative than vote for him. At least the pile of crap I would create would be more honest than the pile called Kobach. I think it'is time to go outside of the norm.
