You should check out KSO, I think he posts more stuff over there these days (couldn't blame him,).
I do, plus they use my stuff in articles, etc. I even write a little bit for J-Mart's weekly Big 12 piece.
I still try to contribute here too, but I'm inconsistent. When I come over and see that no one is really talking about the games its hard to add much to the discussion.

I think twitter probably draws a lot of the potential talent from here. 11 or 12 years ago when I was cutting my BBS teeth, KSUFans was full of a bunch of talented and hilarious posters who posted a lot. These people were funny AND they liked k-state sports. I really looked up to the more prominent posters and aspired to be funny about k-state like them.
Over the last few years, gE (on the sports side) is pretty much a cesspool of cynics fighting optimists. It's basically humorless, generally toxic, and rarely fun or lighthearted. And that's if you're smart enough to avoid the pit.
Anyway, point is, that for people who want to be silly and talk about KSU sports, twitter is far more accessible and gE doesn't offer much to draw in young, funny k-state fans. KSO naturally offers a lot more in the way of actual sports discussion. Hard to tell where gE fits in between twitter and KSO.

I came here because I liked the alternative nature of the site at the time. I rarely post but have always enjoyed reading. I keep a low profile but apparently know a person or two through coaching youth. It's still a fun board overall.

I haven’t been over to KSO but I assume it’s more policed on language and you can get banned for stuff right?
eff is filtered out but that's about it. I did get chided by a mod because I told a dude to take his L. What's odd over there is that there are several posters who call for people they deem squawks to be banned. The board for all intents and purposes is no different than the old gpc, same posters, but actual good people running the site with great content.

I think a big reason interest is down over here though is because it's boring for a lot of us. oscar Weber bubble teams and Snyder's 7-5 twilight years are not exactly moving the needle for quite a few people. When K-State hires a new coach in either sport I'll be much more enthusiastic, personally. Now, if it turns out they suck, I'll go back to being fairly uninterested, but right now I know what I'm getting in both sports, and It's pretty blah.

-Making little effort to welcome new posters with, IMHO, a general attitude of seniority & exclusivness existing amongst the "regulars and originals," ex. acronyms and other crap specific to gE with no legend so that someone new can understand. I get the feeling some seem proud to tout they have more gE knowledge than newbies, yet simultaneously bitch about it being dead, while ALSO simultaneously bitching about the old guy who tells back in my day stories.
-General lack of any info. This place used to have a lot of insider rumblings and interesting sources with legit stories to break. KSO and twitter have unequivocally passed gE in that regard. I come here to try to learn stuff I don't already know, not see the same public bickering happen by page 3 every thread.
-Disinterest in recruiting news. This is a huge market that is largely ignored here.
-Lack of interest overall. Football hired a 3 new coaches that stimulated a whooping like 6 pages of thread, most of which had nothing to do with breaking down the actual hire. We have a basketball team full of likeable characters, but you can't make it a page of thread without a Oscar or a negative nancy derailment.
I get a free site with no one paid to run will be somewhat limited in resources. I get that I'm being a huge hypocrite not contributing anything myself. It just seems this has become the place the OGs created for the OGs. Don't be that same old guy from above who also just makes lame excuses and blames everything on the next generation because you don't know why something changed

Coming from a young, relatively new lurker, if you want to know the reason this place is dead all some of you have to do is look in the mirror.
All I see on here is:
-Constant bitching between posters often referencing past beefs that no one but them knows or cares about
-Making little effort to welcome new posters with, IMHO, a general attitude of seniority & exclusivness existing amongst the "regulars and originals," ex. acronyms and other crap specific to gE with no legend so that someone new can understand. I get the feeling some seem proud to tout they have more gE knowledge than newbies, yet simultaneously bitch about it being dead, while ALSO simultaneously bitching about the old guy who tells back in my day stories.
-General lack of any info. This place used to have a lot of insider rumblings and interesting sources with legit stories to break. KSO and twitter have unequivocally passed gE in that regard. I come here to try to learn stuff I don't already know, not see the same public bickering happen by page 3 every thread.
-Disinterest in recruiting news. This is a huge market that is largely ignored here.
-Lack of interest overall. Football hired a 3 new coaches that stimulated a whooping like 6 pages of thread, most of which had nothing to do with breaking down the actual hire. We have a basketball team full of likeable characters, but you can't make it a page of thread without a Oscar or a negative nancy derailment.
I get a free site with no one paid to run will be somewhat limited in resources. I get that I'm being a huge hypocrite not contributing anything myself. It just seems this has become the place the OGs created for the OGs. Don't be that same old guy from above who also just makes lame excuses and blames everything on the next generation because you don't know why something changed
I had/have all these same criticisms. I originally came here because i couldn't stand Fitz...i joined gpc many, many moons ago and really enjoyed it during the "glory" years of KSU athletics. At some point i just couldn't stand the way Fitz was running the place so i cancelled my subscription and came here....for all it's warts this place at least allowed me to continue to discuss the Cats. I honestly hadn't even considered KSO now that Fitz is gone. I just went over there and the site looks great. I'm gonna sign up for a year and see how it goes.

This is spot on. I originally joined here with a different username but got PI'd to the point of saying eff it and i just quit. I didn't want to go back to Fitz so i just sat out for a while...then i thought, why should i let some assholes keep me from talking Cats and i got back in. Still, the discussions on here are not worth the bullshit most of the time.

During my HS/early college years bbsn' was fun as hell. Places like GoBig12.com (later Austin360) and Big12Warzone had some great banter. Later down the road KSUFans and goEMAW picked up the torch.
The biggest factor for my slowdown over the past five years has been the addition of kids and a lack of time. Now that they've gotten a little older and life has slowed down a bit I have more time to waste on here. I do think participation from other fan bases would help spark better discussion here. CU and NU leaving the conference really killed a lot of good material. Other than KU, there really isn't anyone else in this conference that gives a crap about us.

When I moved to DC I tried a few times to watch KState games while talking in chat about the game. i missed being able to watch the games in person or with my friends. Every time I was told by a mod I wasn't allowed to talk in the chat or I would be kicked out of the chat room. So I stopped going there. Early on a few other posters specifically targeted me, I bumped into one in particular in the Ville who told me not to take it too seriously that everyone on the board was shitting on me.
I still love this board. I am more of a reader than an active participant though because I don't feel super welcome to contribute. But, I am also deeper into my career and have much less time to devote to BBSing. I have met Winters through this blog and Haverhill, they are both stand up guys. I like to think people that have been apart of this community are like both of them. Now I'm working at an internship here in town.
That's just my two cents. The day goEMAW leaves the web will be a dark one and I hope it never comes.

I wanted to clarify a few things that were bothering me. When i left GPC i originally went to TP's site and i can't remember it's name...think it was ksufans or something. It was nice to be free of Fitz and his bullshit and i liked that site. Then you guys broke away and took a lot of really good posters so i came here and honestly the board was really fun with a lot of fun and funny stuff. At some point i decided to try to contribute and was immediately attacked, but i knew it was the schtick so i was ready for it. Or I thought i was. LOL. After a few months of trying I said eff it and quit for a while. Then i came back as WB and told myself i wouldn't let the PI crap bother me this time. In truth the personal attacks were less irritating than the fact that there just was no good discussion. When someone disagrees with you, instead of a well thought out argument it's just vitriol. I realize this is how a lot of posters on here amuse themselves and that's unfortunate because it's not what i am looking for in a message board/community. I used to come to this place to be entertained and for a long while it was VERY entertaining....now it's not fun, funny or even interesting, outside of a few posters. I commend the group of guys that started this place...i've actually met some of you and you seem to be good people. The fact that you have your own message board is pretty cool...it's just not what it was and it's time for me to go. I spent a few hours yesterday on KSO and it brought back a lot of memories of the posters i used to know and enjoy. I think i'm going to like it there.

Well, pretty good. Finally got my fat ass back in the gym yesterday and even started cardio! Went back today cause only 60% of my body was sore, and I'm an all or nothing kinda guy.
Anywho....guess who I ran into today dropping the kiddo off at the YMCA kids club?
Jesse freakin Eisenberg! I've been preparing for this for some time now and luckily had a speech ready which sounded an awful lot like "Ayyye! What's up man?"
To which he replied "Hey! Not much. How ya doin?"
