I don't really care about basketball now. And KU fans do a lot. So I hope they beat us. And honestly basketball is a 3rd tier sport that nobody nationally cares about so us losing or winning doesn't really matter. so I hope they are happy more than I hope we get some win that I (and most people) won't even care about. does this make sense? I'm a bigger KSU fan than almost anybody in the world so this is weird to say but I have a lot of HS acquaintances that are life long KU basketball fans. this means the world to them.
-
I hope everyone that thinks "dean wolf" is something clever or cool gets robbed or mumped up tonight. There is no reason our once proud program should be hur hurring about the dumbest mother rough ridin' nickname I have ever seen in the history of life. eff all of you dipshits supporting this rough ridin' loserism crap
-
I hope win or lose, some hero in the fOOD stands reenacts the alleged closing scene.
-
Agreed, it’s not worth it, I hate having to walk on eggshells just to fill a cup of coffee at work
-
Move to Kentucky. Nobody gives a crap about either school here. I get to listen to the Linebeards and Hilljacks argue about which program is better.
-
Somebody is gonna have to tell SD that we don’t play KU today...
-
I guess you missed this part, TBT.
I don't really care about basketball now.

Somewhere deep down in my bowels near a decomposing turd a part of me roots for KU. I say to my friends who are root Stupidist for KU that I can support KU. I like Self, but I despise egotistical KU fans.
-
If you want to give little brother a hand up and not a hand out, you need to hope Cats win. Obviously, winning the conference every year has made Self and the school complacent to the point they can't even sniff a FF, much less a NC. They know in their heart of hearts their elite status is an empty, badly tailored off-the-rack suit that only looks dressy because of the 5, 6 or how many B12 championships in a row.
Our winning the conference this year outright is just the tough love needed to really put a burr under their ass. Maybe Self will drop those "freshman 20" he's put on in recent years and stop settling for recruits not good enough to get a Duke offer.
-
#LIFE does hard drugs and doesn't eff around.
-
Being better than lil bro in our hobby sports is a bit depressing when they take it so seriously. I hope they win.
-
All their T-shirt fans get so mad when they lose and I can't stand to think of violence that goes on afterwords.
Always hoping for a little bro win for the children's sake.

Sd is smart so I’ll say I agree
-
i'd rather win but i'm on the east coast and won't be staying up to watch since i don't really care at all
-
You're right, SD they need it in a very deranged way:
This is their biggest game of the year. This is the one time that the Octagon of Odd will be sold out. The one time in the year when the "F--k KU" chants during Sandstorm go from being weird and confusing to outright stupid and pathetic. This is the classic Little Brother seeking the one up on Big Brother. Its always more important for them.
When you lose >95% of the time to your rival the last 20 years, these games are huge to you.
This win also sets up KSU as a tournament team and buys Squeaks another year. At least.
-
They love to pretend we care
-
Apparently, Reno is a squawk sock:
The Octagon will rocking with a lot of new overalls and old hatred. That damn OU game, we'd be in such good shape ..... oh well. Crazy thing, from K-State perspective, if they had scored on the final possession at Allen, they'd be 6-2 and 1 game clear of everyone, in position to go 2 up on KU.....Yikes I shudder at that thought. Hope Self has something for Wade tomorrow night because Doke out there hedging on screens is not the answer. Seems like Lightfoot or Svi would be the best match up. That damn Diaharra went around Devonte multiple times in Lawrence, I'm sure they'll have him try again. Gonna need some good 3 pt shooting, Good Newman to show up, Vick would be a plus, Devonte to return to form. It will be loud, intense and hopefully fun as it usually means a KU win.

I wore overalls to one of the arrowhead Farmageddon games and everyone loved them

I already got a passive aggressive court storm comment last week.

GO HAWKS! (for our fellow Kansan brothers and sisters)
-
The look on my ku fan friends and family when their team is phogging out and doing the naismith is worth more than any ksu victory.
-
And I am the biggest k-state fan I know within a 3 block radius.
-
If KU wins tonight it will be a pretty great moment for all the people in the fast food/service industries. In fact I'll almost certainly go to lunch at Jimmy John's on Tuesday, all those KU grads will have a little extra pep in their step and be extra friendly while they make my sandwich. Go Hawks.
-
i, too, will root for ku tonight. kenpom needs something to silence the naysayers (_fan).
-
Hope Jay Bilas has the call.
His love of KU and sultry tones are sure to give any true Jayhawk a boner.
Fran, could be great.
Beems will flip out.
-
Not me man I ain't no squawk.
-
We own this state
-
Sunflower Showdown on Kansas Day.... I mean what else could you ask for?
-
I never expect to beat KU. Maybe the Elite 8 team, and maybe the title town team.
I'll be very disappointed if we don't win tonight.
-
This game is on pretty late
-
They called KSU hall of famer, Lon Kruger, a bitch after he beat them last week. That's mean, and they deserve to lose to future KSU hall of famer, oscar rough ridin' Weber!
-
Dr. J is pissed that we don't care about this game :frown:

Still hundreds left to buy on the Tater AD website, not to mention all of the ticket brokers selling them. Any doubt Fran will announce a "sold out Octagon of Dumb?"

Fran bodybags ku fans in his sleep

if it's true that ku called lon kruger a bitch, then i cannot root for them. however, i do not believe it.

Guys, we didn't even want Phog Allen. Probably was a good choice in retrospect. http://www.kansascity.com/sports/college/article197239894.html

Is this where we put the predicto score thing? :dunno: (ftp://:dunno:) I always liked those. :fistpump: :fistpump: (ftp://:fistpump: :fistpump:)

I just read over at the Phog that Doke has been practicing his free throws and is improving. Wouldn't it be great for his career/confidence if we let him win the game from the line? That would be some magnanimous stuff right there.
-
78-70 hawks :frown:
-
76-71 Jayhawks :tsc:
-
Kevin Pritchard aint walking through that door.
87-70 Cats
-
I don't care super hard. go whoever
-
Kevin Pritchard aint walking through that door.
87-70 Cats
I wanted to clarify. I don't "think" Kevin Pritchard is coming. The Pacers have a home game against Charlotte tonight (6 p.m.) so I just assumed he would be busy.
-
if ku wins, the players will probably go back to lawrentucky and rape a bunch of 16 year olds to celebrate the win
so, in an effort to protect the sanctity of lawrentucky teens, I hope we win
-
although they make go on a raping spree if they lose because of anger
gah.. I don’t know now
-
Real question - is KU's defense better than Georgia's? What if Georgia just did to us what we did to OU and gave away the secret to shutting down our offense? :sdeek:
-
I guess I just want the least amount of 16 year olds to be raped by ku hoops players tonight, whatever it takes
-
I guess I just want the least amount of 16 year olds to be raped by ku hoops players tonight, whatever it takes
For the love of Christ can someone man up and try and sneak some saltpeter in their gatorade before the game?
-
How many O-Boards will KU have tonight? Like 53 or some crap?
Thoughts?
-
I bet they made their big post guy practice ft's and we will fall into the trap of fouling him
-
Tough call.
Allegiance to K-State, or fear of the violent outbursts from KU T-Shirt Nation?
-
I bet they made their big post guy practice ft's and we will fall into the trap of fouling him
Maybe he has practiced so many ft's that he forgot to practice shots near the rim? :crossfingers:
-
My focus tonight is reading Hosmer rumors
-
All I know is that Bill self is leaving the floor tonight without a dick. oscar loves to kick dick.
-
dr oscar plans on performing a circumcision tonight, -heavy emphasis on the “cision”
-
What? How are we unranked still?
-
wade is wearing an undershirt :(
-
Mawien should never shoot another 3 ever again. KU is lava hot right now
-
Good God we're chucking bricks up there.
-
Good God we're chucking bricks up there.
it’s crazy- I thought we would shoot 900% all season like so many others here did
-
Agendite
-
I'm pro undershirt
-
That start is gonna eff us the rest of the game like it usually does
-
Barry is way too likeable to be a oscar recruit, wtf
-
so is diarra
-
Well the rest of the season doesn’t matter much because we already won this season and probably make the tournament and will lose in the first round
-
The TO margin was KU: 10 and us: 1 and we were down 11. :flush:
-
at least our offense is getting open 3pt shots for mawain and patrick, i’m sure those will start falling in the 2nd half
-
Since bill switched to zone, we have shot nothing but threes
-
How do we not have an effective zone offense...still???

-
We have them right where we want them.
-
I’m up and down on oscar generally, but I’m just amazed at how we always seem to be so helpless against a zone.
-
To be fair, our zone busting offense this season has usually been hitting shots, but no matter who is shooting it, 0 of 10 threes is just crazy.
-

Why do we have Sneed in the middle??

Sneed has been pretty cold tonight. Our guys definitely seem just a bit too amped up.

It was seemingly worse under Martin, which is hard to fathom.
-
Why are we playing so shitty!?!?!?
-
Just incredible adjustments from Weber on that zone. Genius.
On another note my neighbor has started blowing off fireworks and clanking a can in his driveway to a likely KU victory. SD was right, they need this.
-
I'm happy for them.
-
best way to beat a zone? shoot the other team out of it. oh ya, about that-
-
Hawks going for that 14th straight!
-
V happy for all my hawk bros
-
No one was beating KU tonight.

This hurts guys

Last 11 games for X....
He was good vs WV
Other 10 games =
23.5% 3pt
42.4% 2pt
38.1 eFG
He's killing us with his dismal shooting.
-
He needs to be a slasher and he just won't.

-
He probably didn't have the legs tonight, but he probably didn't have the legs to shoot threes either. Of course, he could have given up the gottdamn ball on the fast break to the open man, who happens to be one of the fastest guys in the conference, instead of blowing a layup trying to be hero.
-
sneed had a lot of heat checks tonight
-
Yep you guys are right, it was the guy who was rough ridin' cramping tonight’s fault.
-
Forget the fact we act like we have never seen a zone before. Guess why, just guess guys.
oscar never prepared for one because he’s a rough ridin' downgrade.
-
Keep blaming the players guys, seriously keep doing it. The guys who are cramping who obviously are not giving it all, it’s their fault
-
we know zone offense (baylor)
we just have headworms against ku and are scaredy-cats of them
-
I blame Oscar for X not giving up the ball on the fast break to Diarra. No top-drawer coach would put up with that shite. Yeah, the take on dribble and pass it to the guy standing ten feet away zone offense was a tell of Weber's lack of preparation.
-

This is the kind of oscar apologist downgrade response I crave.
-
Ku was unconscious and TO happy early.
They were 107% eFG, 9 TOs and had 31-16 lead.
The next 14:45 Ku went 2-17 FG with 5 TOs.
We had only cut lead to 42-35. ( I mean 35 pts in 47 effing Possessions)
Svi hits 3 at 13:00 mark to make it 45-35 (this after Stockard fouls Doke on rebound, giving Ku extended possession)
-
Hey look sometime just overhelped off Svi. Sure we gave up another wide open corner three, but at least they didn't attempt the layup!
-
I just can't meltdown over these games vs lil bro anymore. Just happy there was something on TV on a Monday night.

Probably the most frustrating thing for me watching that game. I can't believe how many times we helped off the best shooter in the Big 12. That said, Svi has developed into a really, really good player. He's a pro.

Good post. We should have put Diarra on Svi and tell him stay in shorts no matter what. We would have given up some twos but I'm not even sure about that.
-
you guys remember the 2010 home game vs KU (lost 81-79 in OT)? at the end of regulation Dom had a breakaway layup to win the game but tyrel reed stripped him from behind. i had a very painful vivid flashback last night.
-
The KU fans in my office this morning are definitely walking with pep in their step. They really needed this one.
-
I guess at this point we just have to accept that this team is going to average a -10 rebounding differential on a nightly basis. That's a given for me at this point. So if that's the case, we need to be great at everything else to compensate -- including shooting at a high level. The Svi stuff was frustrating last night, but I think our actual defense played fine otherwise -- we turned KU over 16 times. If you would've told me KU was going to score 70 last night, I would've liked our odds.
Shooting 32% from the field and 22% (6-27) from three isn't going to be close to getting it done.
-
did not watch the game but was very pleased when the one KU fan at the office came by to talk hoops this morning. he was smiling ear to ear. very happy for him.

If there is any game in the history of basketball where it is a really bad idea to look at "total rebounds" as some justifiable measure of true rebounding prowess, this is one of them. Both teams rebounded the ball roughly at the same rate.
-
Screwy game. FG misses in 1st half were Ksu 26 Ku 6.
Ku only had 1 OR with 16:30 left in 2nd half
They didn't get pts off a OR until 3:19 in the game.
Now there was 2 deadball Rebounds where we fouled on a Ku FG miss (Stockard foul) and a FT miss (Wade foul). They scored on those extended possessions Both times (5 pts)

Both teams are awful at rebounding, which is even more of a reason why both teams need to shoot well to win games. They won't get many 2nd chance opportunitites.
I remember the 2nd chance opportunities Frank's teams would get. Sometimes guys like Curtis Kelley would get his rebound twice before getting it back in the bucket. Nobody cared as much how well we shot because we would always keep possession and eventually find the hoop. I miss that.

Admittedly, I'm not a statmaster for hoops, so I don't really understand what you mean, but I'll take your word for it. That said, lastnight's total rebounding differential is pretty consistent with our numbers in conference play. We've gotten our asses kicked on the boards in every conference game except for 2 (@AFH was the other one).
I think our lack of rebounding (in general) leaves us with next to no room for error for bad shooting nights, last night's game notwithstanding.

How good do we really have to be at shooting? Our season average is over 75 ppg, and KU was giving up something like 70 before last night. Yeah, KU played good defense and Bill always manages to do something to completely fluster our guys, but last night was still an anomaly. We sacrifice a strong presence under the rim for guys who can shoot, and it has paid off more often than not. Also, as I said from the outset, our only chance of making a deep run in the tournament is by shooting well--especially from 3. I am fine with sticking with that game plan, even if it means we will die by the 3 some games like we did last night.

Svi is probably going to go down on my top 5 all hate team for KU. :frown:

i also don't like him (irrationally) but man that block was an amaze play

It was.
-
I hate any/all guys who can consistently hit open 3s because we have a remarkable tendency to come off of them when they are on a shooting streak.
-
I knew some of my IRL friends like _FAN were there last night so I would've loved for them to be happy and party with a big W, but last night's loss was for the best. I am relieved.
-
im still scratching my head at our poor (normal) shooting performance, just can’t figure it out
-
im still scratching my head at our poor (normal) shooting performance, just can’t figure it out
At one point, we were 12-46 FG.
Ku was lava hot early shooting. But they went cold for long period. We cut the lead to 32-27. Then the next 20 Possessions the score was Ku 10 Kstate 8.
Ku missed 1st 11 shots in the 2nd half. We had our opportunity to take the lead, but our offense just continued to be soooo bad.
-
prepared my self for a KITN... did not expected to have them used as a trampoline...
-
The thing about guys that are good at getting lots of d-boards, is that they are sometimes (often?) good at preventing players from the other team from making 2 point shots and vice versa. We're pretty horrible at making other teams miss 2 point shots.
I'd prefer that was something that we were better at. Getting a potential associated rebounding boost would be a nice bonus.
