Title: KSU favorites in 2019?
Post by: CHONGS on January 15, 2018, 05:14:41 PM
As we all know KSU is the youngest team in the whole Big 12 and one of the youngest in all of college basketball, so with everything we return next year, which will include:

Wade (Big 12 POY candidate and possible Wooden Award candidate)
Brown (1st team All Big 12?)
Stokes (1st/2nd team All Big 12?)
Sneed (2nd team All Big 12)
Diarra (HM All Big 12)

it seems to me that the Cats should be in the discussion for winning the conference next year.  It would be hard to recall a team with more talent on the floor for KSU in the last 30 years. No matter how they perform over the next few months, its clear that oscar has the program ready to explode into national relevance.

No argument here.

i love it when the pro-oscar crowd like the OP likes to pretend that the rest of the b12 is just sitting around not getting better and we’re the only team that reloads

i agree that our team will be one of the top b12 teams but no we will not run away with the title

You are right that no team will run away with the title and for sure we won't.  KU has all their 5 star transferrs sitting out so will surely be the favorite.  On the other hand, we won't be reloading next year since we may have everybody coming back.  (Still a long way from having everybody back as s*** happens)

Squawk friend told me yesterday that KSU looked really good Saturday, especially the defense they were able to stifle the powerful jayhawk offense with.  So I can confirm that ever-y-one is scared of what oscar has cooking in MHK.

Of course, the same guy was also very impressed with the uw huskies after their performance in lawrence, to the point where he insisted we go to a game here to see that rising program.  We're going to the game in February when IT gets his number retired.

No doubt we will be the favorite to win the Big 12 and make a deep run in the torn-y.  oscar is molding this team to make a serious run next year, that is if he doesn't get railroaded this year.  How can he be expected to win with his point guard/best player injured?

I mean if he could sell just one 4 or 5 star freshman big an immediate starting role next years team could  finish in the top 3 in the league and get a 4 seed

the tough losses this year will give the players tougher skin and they will learn from the experiences and get better.  if they don’t, then that’s on them.  you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.

fortunately oscar will be around to shape the minds of those kids willing to learn how to play the right way

If we convinced Courtney Ramey to sign, and got a decent post player, then I would be bathing in the oscar Juice.  But dang it hurts when unbridled optimism is dashed.  My hillbilly cousins in MO just laugh at me.

The POY will be KU's best player, like always.

Yeah Stokes will be sixth-man, if it ain't McGuirl.

mcguirl should start.  wainright's gotta be in the discussion for that sixth man gig.  he's a solid player and he can guard bigs, which is a nice trait if you want to keep trying the small lineup.

if Wade doesn’t declare then he will be the preseason Player of the year.  I guess Newman might have chance if he comes back

Preseason means crap. I hope Dean is POY but Doke, Newman or some new KU guy will win it.
Title: Re: KSU favorites in 2019?
Post by: Powercat Posse on March 24, 2018, 08:34:48 PM
Ku will be as deep as ever under Self.  1 really good and 2 pretty decent guys sitting out this year.  Add in 3 Top 50-75 recruits.

Cats should be 2nd best Big 12 team going into the season.

We will be picked probably #4 in the Big 12, which is right about where I’d like to be going into the season.

tech's losing a lot, but smith and culver are a pretty nice pair to build around.  they should still be solid.

Predicto: Cats are picked 2nd in league, and receive 1 coaches vote (self) for first place, and at least a couple first place votes from media.

All this is assuming all studs return and a couple puds are Bruced for more studs.

Brown & Wade preseason All B12
Sneed 2nd team

My thinking, too. Plus top-25 all year long and top-10 if we get it rolling.

I guess, assuming the katz have a 5 and some 3 pt shooting.

Newman and the trash euro are going pro, maybe that monster with the effed up knee, and fetal alcohol syndrome is a 24yr old senior.

Recruiting class similar to Vandy, bfd. I assume half won't be eligible after they get caught taking money or cars, in any event.

i just never think of it for the normal college-sized guards.  z smith caught me totally by surprise too and he's got a crazy body and athletic ability.

As of now -

Tech has 5 of the 10 guys that got playing time. Zh. Smith, Culver, Odiase, Francis and Morretti are back.

WV loses it's 2 senior guards. But gets everyone who played the 3,4, and 5 spots back.  Not sure if anyone leaves or transfers but Huggs has 4 guys already "signed" despite just having the 2 seniors

On a side note, McGusty is transferring from OU

I thought Newman was like 6.5 but he's really only like 6.2

no way he's gone, how many 6.2 shooting guards are there in the NBA?

I wouldn't be surprised either.  That's kinda why I said as of now because in a month, things could look different with Tech and other teams
