What about others on the coaching staff? If Bill sticks around can we expect to see anyone pull a Del? :crossfingers:

Gonna retire 2 weeks before the season starts to force an interim Sean HC year to solidify the decision for admin

This is the third straight season and 5th out of the last 6 you could make this argument, dude doesn't think that way.

Cancer did not dissuade this man. He's not going to step down until he gets what he wants. Fully expect him to be back for next season.

I'm amazed how many people think they know what he is going to do one way or another. Nobody has any idea, you are all just guessing.

Really, this dude kicked cancers ass and didn't bat an eye. He'll probably coach until he's 90

I’m amazed you assume you think you know how unpredictable he is. We have pretty good statistical basis’s here.

i can't say what i've heard without burning a source. but, i agree, none of us knows what will happen. bill will do what he wants, until he is incapacitated.

considering he is 78, wealthy and chose to work with cancer this year, would be tough to speculate he (other than being forced to hire competent coordinators) will not keep going a few more years

He tried retirement once, now he'll coach until he dies or they let his son be the head coach

Yeah, I don’t think he’s leaving until he gets a written agreement that Sean is the next coach.  Just my own opinion/guess.

I mean, he knows they can never ever fire him.

Fine with him staying if Dimel ‘decides’ there are better options for him elsewhere.

I dont watch enough of Bill’s post game speeches to the team to really judge, but in a vacuum I would say it seemed to have an air of finality to it, however thats probably my own confirmation bias. But I wouldnt be completely surprised if he does retire.

He said he'll coach until he's no longer good for the program. I think at 5-7 he could probably look himself in the mirror and say, "I'm a big part of that record, I should hang it up." At 7-5, with a chance to get to eight wins, and the QB of the future getting a bunch of great game experience as a freshman...I just don't see how the dude retires at this point. As long as he keeps putting up winning records, he'll continue to coach. Book it.
