1) Absolutely brutal game.
2) Play calling was garbage, I think, as many do that Ertz already has a bum shoulder. We called similar games when CK was broken. He lacked accuracy and zip on his ball, looked hesitant in the pocket with little pressure.
3) So many dropped balls, not the best passes but three or four went right through their hands
4) Played unsnyderlike with our penalties
5) Barnes has always been overrated, crushed scrubs nothing else. Silmon needs the bulk and Warmack on passing downs who we didn't even use.
6) Defense was solid, minus Kirby and Shelley. I'm not sure where Shelleys play is at lately, he's taken a step back. Kirby is slow, can't cover or maintain the edge.
7) I thought our WR sets looked odd, really bizarre mix of personnel at times.
8) Lochlibier or however you spell it did like a 70 yard punt.

4) Played unsnyderlike with our penalties
This is getting to the lol level of "nike only makes cortez shoes for LHC Bill Snyder and they're all in a vault" or whatever.
-
I really like the DTs on our squad.

Yeah, the myth of well-disciplined teams needed to die years ago

1) defense gave up 1 long TD drive. Other was 33yds. Other 10 drives Vandy didn't score
2) 6 "dropped" or "should catch' balls ( Pringle 3 Harris 2 Heath 1)....all would have been 1st down catches. Instead, a punt occured. So 6 of our 12 drives HURT by dropped balls
3) Bad luck on the " overturn " of fumble return TD
4) terrible mistake penalty by Us on Punt return TD. Just a foolish penalty by Barry.
** Those 4 things sum up why we lost
-
yeah im counting this one at 21*-7* Cats*
still in* the race*!!!

Abysmal offensive playcalling (particularly in the second half) is why we lost, IMO. We started at least two drives with options that gained significant yards only to follow up with three straight passing plays that amounted to nothing. This loss is on Dimel.

Dead assed wrong. Penalty yardage rank nationally
2010-28th
2011-9th
2012-5th
2013-51st :frown:
2014-17th
2015-8th
2016-67th :horrorsurprise:
LHC Bill Snyder 2.0 has a pretty well defined track record of having teams that play disciplined football. Even the two outlier seasons we were 1st in the conference in 2013 & 4th in 2016. Only the service academies are more consistently disciplined.
If you want to have an argument, there could be one to be made that we're too disciplined, we're keeping company with the service academies and not even good group of five schools. The only P5 schools that seem to even challenge us in this area are Iowa and KU.

Can we talk about how terrible Nick Walsh was as well, he and Isaiah Harris probably the worst individual games, but Walsh skated because he's a punter. He had like 6 or 7 really mediocre punts, he deserved the benching he got.
-
I think we can all agree the Vandy punter was horrendous. After 6 punts, he and Walsh had an identical average of 34.6 ypp. I'm not sure how many chances a punter should get when you've got Lochbiler (sp) right behind him. Walsh was horrible.
-
Can we also talk about McCrane. Every time he was around the press he'd brag about he could hit from 70 in practice. If you're going to brag about distance in practice, hit a 42 yarder in a game.
-
i like mccrane for the most part, but i dont like him from over 40 yards
-
Yeah mccrane talking everyday about his range then missing from 42 on a meaningful kick is very lol worthy
-
Feel like this whole off-season the team's been talking and then has this crap show of a performance.

Well now they can just play

I thought we liked our bragging, scrappy team. Problem is, they don't play that way.

heath's swag was off the charts until he had the huge drop

DJamer Reed's breakup on the long bomb.
Reggie Walker forcing multiple holds was pretty good.
Also, I was blinded by rage, but did Kirby step it up after the 1st drive? I think he did.

Kirby shouldn't be starting

For me, the only take is that we lost. Which means that, most likely, we will have to win ten straight to make the playoffs (including winning rematch in championship game).
My thoughts on team haven't changed: we have a very good team. Which makes the consequences of the loss that much tougher to swallow.

It's pretty amazing to see someone still clinging to a playoff birth after last night.
-
Yeah. They need to cut the cord.
-
Double digit wins is still a reasonable goal to me.
Playoffs were a reach to me to begin with and last night ended any dream.

Defense was fantastic last night.

A double digit season is not happening. We'll have one or two offensive performances that look like last night later in the season, because reasons.
I woke up this morning still pissed off and ready to break things. I didn't think we'd win the Big XII this year with the two Oklahoma School's looking the way they do, but with the way we were playing at the end of last season, and returning basically everyone, we were supposed to be a hell of a lot better than Vandy. Instead, our offense was only able to come up with a measly 7 points.
-
Vandy is a halfass decent team that will lose next weekend at home to Bama by 30 or so.
