The football team's Twitter account, @VandyFootball, tweeted out the following today: "We are RELENTLESS, TOUGH AND INTELLIGENT, and…" The tweet was capped off with an image (seen with this story) which reads, "We don't need your permission!" The image is accompanied by a signature from coach Derek Mason.
Followers on social media were quick to point out that two Vanderbilt football players were convicted in January of raping an unconscious fellow student. The two players — Brandon Vandenburg and Cory Batey — were later released from jail when a mistrial was declared. Prosecutors have said they intend to retry the case.

Wow, i used to think Vandybildt was a top tier University with a US News top 18 pedigree but in light of recent circumstances i believe i'll have to reevaluate my position.

I'm honestly ashamed we are going to give significant media attention and a sizable revenue boost to these people by agreeing to play them. I hope KSU is planning on donating significant resources to sexual assault prevention programs in order to offset the damage.

Hey, just do us a favor and keep your players from raping anyone for the next 72 hours. I don't want to hear any excuses about your upcoming loss and players not being able to suit up in the comical costume you guys are touting as your 'new uniform' and are instead sitting in County awaiting processing, wearing a different uniform. Savvy?
