Really confused. In the Memphis bowl playoff game thing a few years ago the stadium went all the way around like a legit college football stade.
But the AD sent me my tickets with a seating chart, and it seriously looks like a high school stade, not that bowl stadium. Memphis must have a home game and this one is at a community field or something?

I am leaving this an open discussion, so you can read this. I was over on your boards and I was noticing some of you had some comments about the Commodores, so being the good sport I am I figured we could talk about this game coming up on Saturday.
1- This is going to be the best defense you face this season. That isn't a question, that's a statement. This team has given up a little over 350 yards in two full games of work, so don't think for a second scoring will be such an easy task.
2- Charles Wright. You should probably get to know him. He's the FBS leader in sacks at the moment and he is a true force coming off the edge. Overlooked in Cali, came to the SEC, and got bigger while taking his licks. He goes up against SEC offensive tackles and still produces, so don't think you're gonna keep him off the sack sheet.
3- Emmanuel Smith, Oren Burks, and Ryan White. Aka The Hit Squad. If you run their way, you will get hit. If you throw near them? Your receivers will get hit. If your quarterback gets cute and tries to run on them. He will get hit. Avoid those three at all costs.
4- Nifae Lealao eats blocks. So you might want to double team him, maybe trap him. Maybe just try to run away from him, because he will impose his will on the offensive line with no remorse.
5- Kyle Shurmur is the top quarterback in the NCAA. Better than Baker Mayfield. Better than anybody else you're gonna see this year. You want to rush him, you want to hit him, you want to try and get him off his game. You don't want to load the box though, because he will make you pay greatly.
6- Ralph Webb. People have put 8 in the box to stop him. People have paid greatly. You're welcome to try it, but Ralph Webb is an all time SEC great for a reason. Wrap up, because he will run through you if he has to do so.
Lastly...

When oscar Weber was hired for basketball, they literally stood outside the basketball arena and picketed his hiring. They wanted to hire Doug Gottlieb and thought their protests would make that happen. They just look to cause friction in the K-State fan base.
I don't know much about Vanderbilt other than my brief research I've had a few minutes to do. I know this Vandy team is talented, just as this K-State team is. I think it's going to be a great game. I'll probably pick K-State, but a blowout won't happen, I don't believe. Like I said, please just know that goEMAW doesn't represent the K-State fan base as a whole. I look forward to being in Nashville this week to cover the game!

Remember when we fired our old burnout OC James Franklin? Sure enough they decided to hire him. One football program's trash is another football program's only option to hire as a head coach, it seems. FWIW, vanderdestroyed fired him a few years later because he stank.
Same is true for their current OC Andy Ludwig, who we shitcanned after about two weeks.
They're the KU of the southeastern conference. Cats by about 24 or so.

No way that is true, I have a massively high fbiq and had no idea vanderbelt even played football until we scheduled them. Frankly it's impossible that a school could be playing my entire life and I've never seen them on tv or ranked in the top 25 or had had a sportscenter highlight or anything.

That may be true. I don't really know but I do know that when they absolutely stack the box almost the entire game and we continue to run QB draws, sweeps and throw almost nothing but deep balls, we're also being outcoached and not maximizing what talent we do have. Play to your strengths not weaknesses and give your playes at least a fighting chance to win.
We threw to the TE what once and I don't recall a single screen or short route to either the outside or even across the middle.

Someone asked me if beating k-state was "like beating Akron" and I told him that we haven't played Akron so I really didn't know. But, I can say that beating lil'-k is about as satisfying as beating Middle Tennessee except we gave up 1 more point to lil'-k due to a ridiculous defensive breakdown. Middle had a far more sophisticated, more multi-dimensional, offense so our defense was a good bit better in that game.
While I was obviously for Vandy this game, I generally pull for Southwest Conference teams so best of luck.
I pulled off I-70 at the Manhattan exit on my drive to Colorado last year to get gas but there wasn't a town there.

But, there's a Taco John's not too far from Colorado so it's not like there isn't anything in Kansas (other than the World's Largest Prairie Dog attraction).

I will also say that the KSU fans with whom I visited were very nice folks and I thought it was great that so many visited Nashville and had such a great time irrespective of football.

Since no Vandy fans have come to our board to give us an tips about where to eat/what to do I'll pass some info along from my buddy who is a big shot in the country music business and lives in North Nashville.
1. Travel in groups around the stadium after dark. Apparently the area around Vanderbuilt is super sketchy and its not safe after the sun goes down.
2. There are no bar area's around the campus. Closest place to get a drink is downtown off broadway.
3. Vanderbuilt is a commuter school with no real fan base in Nashville, its basically the safety school for middle class kids from the burbs who can't get into UT.

I wish that I'd known of this site prior to the game so that I could have engaged ya'll, shared recommendations, and enjoyed some good nature barb-trading.
That being said, I didn't know that KSU had many fans or this site. We, admittedly, are probably consumed with the excellence of the SEC and don't cast our interest as far as we should.
As for your specific question about confidence. I admit that with a 3-4 point spread in the game, that regardless of which side of the spread that I was on I wouldn't not have been sufficiently confident to start a thread entitled "We're going to absolutely throttle K-State." Not only that, but I wouldn't have had 17 pages of folks agreeing with me. I suggest that the confidence expressed in the thread was bordering on, to borrow a phrase, irrational exhuberance. All the while, I appreciate a good troll.
I reiterate, that I was extremely expressed with the friendliness and sportsmanship of your fans. I didn't encounter anyone who struck me as out of line in any way. Congrats ..... that is in many ways the bigger game.

I was sorting through some stacks on my office desk and noticed the August 14 Sports Illustrated college football preview issue. It says with respect to KSU that "a non-conference schedule highlighted by Vanderbilt [9/16] could hold them back." In the South, we call that prescient.
