Can't, no beta.
Amazon Go is currently open to Amazon employees in our Beta program, and will open to the public in early 2017.

Confession: sometimes technology like this scares me. Like we're moving way too fast.

i thought this was going to be a VR app that allows you to walk through a virtual store and shop...and items are shipped out. How many of these will they have i wonder?

An upperclassmen who is interning for Amazon is helping with the programming of the scanning tech in the beta store. Will try and post something way later if I hear anything after his summer internship

Betas only still. It's in a location where there'd never be any reason for me to go there other than #coverage once. Really, it's for amazon workers who have scarce amounts of time away from their desks.

There was a lot of food prep happening. I think a lot of their business will be quiktrip-type to-go food.

This thing opened to the public today.

this feels like the juicero of grocery stores
-
Does it know if you pick an item up, then put it back down? What if you walk around with it for a while, then change your mind?
-
Do you even RFID bro
-
Do you even RFID bro
Well depending on where the sensors are, I don't know if it knows when you put it down in the wrong spot.
-
Post things you want me to try to do to test the system.
You should probably get her some saddle bags
Sergio gave her one of those dog backpack sort of things w/pockets, so I can look into stuffing some stuff in those.
-
Try picking up 2 items at once with one hand.
-
Try to use a manufacturers coupon
-
Pick up an item and put it back down in a non-merchandise location. Check to see if you get charged.
-
Lots of low RFIDIQ going on in here.
-
Try to use a manufacturers coupon
Do manufacturers make coupons for artisan cheese?

This thing is way too small, at least for now when there's people like me just meandering around for the novelty of it and/or to write a tax-deductible review on a blog.
As expected, it'll probably be cool for people who work right around there and forgot their lunch or want to get some basic stuff to take home, but it's not any better than going to any other small grocery store that's on every block. It was a struggle to even find anything to buy, since I'd already ate dinner. Prices looked reasonable. 2 people were struggling with how to both get in and shop under one person like you're supposed to, and the workers looked like they wanted to go in the back and kill themselves and weren't much help.
I won't be back in there other than a unique circumstance where I happen to be right there when I remember I need something and wouldn't be going to a real grocery store soon, or when I have tourists in town. You people who are enthralled with quiktrips will probably love it.
I thought maybe I'd stolen b/c it took a while to get my receipt notice, but it was all accurate.

that tax rate has me like Nick Russell at the Hoover dam

I'm about to have a breakdown about that 8% battery. No way I'd be putzing around AmazonGo with < 10%.

Taxes are really weird here. It’s more about what specifically you buy vs. a universal sales tax. And for stuff like this, they include most of the tax in the listed sales price, especially now in the era of sweetened drinks tax.

I’ve got a portable charger.

WTF is with that sweetened beverage tax? So I could buy a sweetened iced tea for twice the price or I could buy an unsweetened tea for half and just add some Splenda?
-
The sign says the tax is $1.75 per ounce, but the price on the gatorade is a lot less than that.

1.75 cents not 1.75 dollars
-
Oh, that makes a lot more cents. :D
-
I'll try to pay more attention next time I'm at a store and there's non-sweet things right next to sweet things, but what it comes down to is that groceries aren't taxed, unless they've been deemed bad by the government, and then I believe the "tax" or fee is added into the price you see on the shelf, not as you check out.

Chicago tried implementing this last summer and the place nearly burned to the ground because of it. It didn't last.

Samra and other members of Keep Seattle Livable for All, a coalition of small business owners who oppose the tax, will share testimonials during a press conference at A Pizza Mart on Friday.
I gotta see if there'll be videos of the A Pizza Mart presser.

Where are the sugar tax dollars flowing too?

Not colorado weed tax money but that's a sizable projection of revenue. It's like the corn syrup flows thru you straight into the less fortunate persons gut.
-
We'll see if those projections come to be. Seems like people are skipping buying the taxed stuff or buying it outside the city.
