The RNC is over, now it's on to the DNC. What do Hillary and the Demo Party have in store for us?

It's going to be teeth-grittingly horrible to have to watch all the hill clips.  Just looking at or listening to her makes my skin crawl.

The only thing I am interested in is the VP pick.  Not that it matters, though.  She could have Kanye introduce her, but before he does, actually physically transform into jesus, then be declared the vp right then and there by hill, and I wouldn't vote for her.

Other than a kanye/jesus morph, they better just sit calm and be boring if they want to win.

We recently had a girl at work get promoted to recruiter. We have access to people's salaries in HR, but I've never wanted to look, because that's kinda eff'd up. Anyways, she looked into it, to see how she was getting paid vs the rest of us. She had no experience beforehand and she started bitching to coworkers about what me and my coworker make. Talk about feeling violated. She recruits for staff and we recruit for dentist, big difference. She's in some hot water for causing this crap storm.

There's access for some HR people to the HR file, so they know what's reasonable to offer for certain positions. This was meant for our practices (patient coordinators, hygenists, etc), not internally, but she decided to take it to the next level. They've locked down on it now.

Yeah, that was just about my experience. They set up an interview for a few days later and then hired me during the interview, though. I think it helped a lot listing my football coach as a reference. It was a small town, so the athletes could pretty much get a job anywhere as long as they were willing to accept minimum wage.

You're probably right

Pretty much the only reason employers don't do it is so they can pay some people less for non-merit-based reasons (mainly because they just don't ask for raises). I'm in a career where the salary is lock step and a lot of the employers publicly post what they pay per level. Makes salaries and bonuses very competitive (good for employees).

Guccifer 2.0 claimed that these emails came from the same breach on the DNC, by simply responding: “yeah, u r a visionary, man.”

“The Wikileaks hacked #DNC emails feel qualitatively very different to the docs in the #Guccifer 2 hack,” the information security expert known as Pwn All The Things tweeted.

I'm more inclined to believe Pwn All The Things than Guccifer 2.0 on this one.

You'll take it the wrong way, but you're a mid level office worker, if you're towards the top it's because the top isn't very high.

Besides how do you know you're towards the top? Because your boss says you do a good job? It's entirely possible that you are the lowest paid recruiter there if you don't know what your peers are making.

And before you think this is a personal attack on the WackyCat08, please understand I'm just making observations

Nah. I'm talking about among mid level workers at this office. We have like 10 execs in this building. I know my coworker makes more than me, he's been doing this forever and is really good at it. I know I make more than the other recruiters, because they told me when they looked at the salaries and we're the only recruiters who get bonuses as well, for finding new dentist to fill practices within 60 days. I've hit my deadline on everyone so far since I've been here.  :Woot:

There's a middle ground.  I've worked 3 companies since getting my BS.  At all 3 you could all HR at any time and get the floor, ceiling, actual low, actual high, mean, and median salaries for you job title and any other relevant job titles in your possible career paths.  It was a great middle ground while maintaining anonymity.

Wacky, your HR director sounds terrible for not complying and mantaining salary guidance material you need for your job.

What kind of company allows anyone to just go check out salaries in HR?  WTF?
My previous job was at a fortune 100 sized company, tax shelter HQ in the Netherlands, but if you looked at any proposal you could figure out anyone's hourly equivalent rate.

Those rates usually include overhead.

Each were on the spreadsheet. I should have phrased it better... Not the external proposal, but more the internal proposal and tracking documents.

Her statement said she is  resigning to better serve as surrogate for hill in florida.

Hill says that no one could do what wasserman did.

Bernie's guy credits her too.

Hill is going to give them both both a pretty fat position in like 6 months.

Yeah, from following none of it aside from what I got from angry bern'rs tweets, it seemed pretty obvious that Bernie was getting eff'd the whole time.  It's on him that he allowed it to happen and is now a servile puppy dog.

What are Disney hunters?

The POV is not standard, there is disagreement among hunters on this issue.  But he is certainly on the correct side, IMO.

He doesn't need to impose anything.  This view is already the view of the federal government.  All he needs to do is nothing to maintain the status.

good comment from sullivan blog.

Quote
I left the Republican party last week after 20 years of voting for, working for, and giving to its candidates. I forgot why I was for it. I heard nothing about the rule of law, limited government, or free enterprise. It has become a grotesque alternation between ambiguous bigotry and overt bigotry; I wanted nothing to do with it. I almost forgot why I am a conservative.

Tonight it is all coming rushing back to me. Is there nowhere to go for someone who is pro-immigrant and pro-rule of law? Also, this parade of identity politics is condescending and embarrassing for everyone participating. Why can’t we just treat people like people? It would be nice if the Democrats had some African-Americans, Hispanics, gays, or women speak who did not think that their race/orientation/sex was the only interesting thing about themselves or even the most interesting thing about themselves. Couldn’t they have had a disabled girl who was not so entirely predictably and tediously just another flavor of victim?

I remain politically homeless.

good comment from sullivan blog.

When I hear someone say "identity politics" I hear someone not wanting me to fight for my equal piece of the apple pie. Let me know when it is okay to stop trying to achieve equality, I'm certainly tired of trying to find it.

The Arkansas CNNN affiliate is reporting an avid Sanders supporting delegate was battered by a militant Clinton delegate.  Fred Fudkins from Hot Falls was holding a sign that read Bern Hill, Bern was over the Hill. When asked about the sign, he said he likes men on top.  Noted feminist Estelle Junkins kneed Fudkins in the groin, and shouted racist misogynistic pig.  Clinton handlers refused to get him some ice for the swelling.  He was carried to hospital for obsevation.  Estelle has been invited to a private coffee with Ms. Clinton.

Losers

* Cory Booker: Sometimes you want to make fetch happen so badly that you ensure it doesn't happen. That's what happened to the New Jersey senator on Monday night. He was clearly aiming to make a moment, to use his speech as a launchpad for his national ambitions. The speech was well written and competently delivered. But, it felt too rehearsed, too plotted — and, without question, way, way too long. The speech could have been half as long and twice as good.

* Al Franken: The Minnesota senator has worked very hard since being elected to the Senate in 2008 to avoid being the funny guy that he portrayed during his time on "Saturday Night Live." On Monday night, Franken let loose — delivering a comedy routine aimed at poking holes in Donald Trump's resume and qualifications. I say comedy because that was clearly Franken's intent — if not what he accomplished. Doing comedy off a teleprompter is not exactly a recipe for success, and Franken is, clearly, very funny. But his routine fell flat. Once he transitioned to a more traditional stump speech, Franken was far better.

That girl was incredible, and by incredible I mean even more ridiculous and delusional than most Bern'rs.  Her voice was really hoarse so you know she had been crying and booing the whole night.  She complained about having to sit through the "Clinton lovefest" and the DNC was mean for making Bernie wait until the very end to speak.  Apparently in her world the headlining band at a concert plays first or something.

Equal opportunity and equal protection.

First one seems impossible given we're born different unless society becomes some sci-fi utopia. I feel you would lose all the diversity and uniqueness of people. What would equal opportunity look like? Only reward hard work? If you bring others down to make things equal, that's unfair as well.

Second one seems more possible, but in my eyes it's human nature to be more iffy about certain people. When you're in a high pressure situation instincts take over. Could be trained to react better, but I've never been in their shoes so I can't pretend to know. Plus some blame could be put on blacks, who then blames society, and then you get in the circular blame game.

I'm legit curious how equality would be solved. Given birth is random (say before there was current day people my soul had an equal chance of being anybody in the world), that is pretty much equal. Like football overtimes.

He made a lot of points about, making a change. Loving one another, stopping the hate, etc. Dems are known for hating all things that relate to religious ppl, $ makers, etc. It's a nice thought to make a change, but he should probably look in the mirror at his own party. Both sides hate and are extremists. I did find it adorable about how he went to bat for muslims, but many libs call republicans crazy fucks for their religious backbones, when it comes to their platform.

Bill Clinton was very bad in the 1990s on lots of issues that liberals/progressives think are important.  You're never going to believe this, but the Republican party was worse on most of these issues in the eyes of those very same liberals/progressives.

Clinton got his ass handed to him in 94 and decided the voters wanted him to be more socially conservative.Or in 92 people wanted law and order.  But alas everyone is a hypocrite so who cares. Truman-Chump Change

Trump-Private Businessman

Clintons-Selling favors all over the world to the tune of hundreds of millions dollars in personal income while a senator and cabinet member.   Many of those deals negatively impacting the US, and likely creating illicit influences or even blackmail at some point in the future.   Not to mention dealing with some of the most oppressive regimes in the world.

Here's some political views from 25 years ago,  take that liberals!

GOP President in the 1980's "Mr. Gorbachev tear down this wall"
GOP Nominee in 2016 "I'm not gonna tell Putin what to do"

WHY IS THE GOP FULL OF HYPOCRITES?!?!?!?!

Which president had a spouse who was a senator/SOS/Pres candidate after they were president and who collectively ran the biggest husband/wife political pay to play operation after the initial presidential term ended and while one spouse was a senator/SOS/Pres candidate??

Context

And that's any worse than the guy who's business is cash strapped, so has been taking investment money from Russian oligarchs, and has given every hint imaginable he is close to the Russians?

I mean are the Clintons any worse than Truman getting his political career started by Tom Pendergast?
If we're gonna have a corrupt person in charge, I'd like it to be the one who is campaigning on the issues I agree with even if she might not implement them.

Would you consider Russia one of the most corrupt regimes in the world? Again I think it's becoming very clear that Putin and Trump have a deal worked out. I mean at least the Clinton's had the good sense to try and hide their foreign influence, that you say is prevalent.

https://twitter.com/interpreter_mag/status/758387942872190977

Are so you rough ridin' demented and delusional that you somehow think this report is an indictment on trump, let alone evidence of a secret deal?

There is an actual dnc email where they conjure a plan to place a fake trump ad on craigslist to hire women that is intentionally sexist.

Quote
An examination of Pence's legislative record during 12 years in the House reveals scant tangible achievements, instead pointing to a tenure marked by a desire to move the Republican Party and national debate in a conservative direction.

Of 90 standalone bills introduced by Pence during his tenure in the House, the 21 that passed were all "simple resolutions" about matters like placing a member on a committee or rebuking the United Nations, according to the legislative tracker GovTrack. Apart from those, just one Pence bill cleared committee, and then died—a 2005 bill to scrap limits on aggregate campaign contributions by a person in an election cycle. Pence voted against numerous major Bush-era initiatives such as No Child Left Behind in 2001, the Medicare prescription drug benefit in 2003 (which passed by one vote) and the bank bailout of 2008.

"It's not as if he was a legislator who did more than take strong positions against these things," said Norm Ornstein, a congressional scholar at the American Enterprise Institute. "This was a guy who saw his role much more as being a super-magnet trying to pull his party and policy away from the center and toward the right."

likeable (to republicans), but ineffective.

Dax's and sys' act in this thread is great. Dax thinks he's clever repeating the same stupid crap, mocking  Hillary for having some of the same conservative views that he obviously has. You're not going anyone with this independent bullshit, you haven't tangled with the neocons on one single issue. You're as independent as I am.

Sys acting like Trump is facist, give me a break. I cannot think of a single issue that trump is right of the Republican party on, not a single one, I can think of three right off of the top of my head that he's left of his party on though.

These two represent more of the same, it's so rough ridin' blah. I am happy that there are so many young people passionate about Bernie and are fed up with this same bullshit. I refuse to mock anyone passionate about changing the same old political machine that has been churning since Kennedy got murdered. In a way I hope the democrats lose this election, do something to change this fat, dull, satiated party. It worked for the republicans, now they have a candidate that says all of the crap they've been too afraid to say, good for them.

Assuming it's too late to nominate any of the other people they've got on the roster that would beat Trump by shitloads.

An entire political party built on convincing the have nots, never haves and never was, wants you to believe things are the best they've ever been, and that the well documented self interested, incompetent jerk, is actually competent and compationate.

Most disingenious crap imaginable. Completely reactionary attempt to shield a piss poor candidate attempting to ride the coattails of an ineffective, polarizing buffoon.

What's a realistic way that the democrats could cancel tomorrow's stuff so that the convention ended with obama's speech and parading hillary around the stage?  That's the winning play.

True. When Hillary speaks, the polls drop.

I've been critical of Hillary's changing rhetoric and beliefs, I wouldn't call it a 180. It has nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with the changing Democratic base. She hasn't had to go back to the right, yet. She will if Trump doesn't puss out of debates with her. He'll probably puss out though and she can keep acting like she's a champion of the disadvantaged without being pushed.

I'm sure pence got along with the dems, when they were bashing W 12 years ago. Whatever that's worth

And this the guy you think will run his playbook as a VP with no legitimate power?

is that her clearing her throat that the microphone is picking up during the applause breaks?

not watching but i can assure you it is.  one of the right wing wacko things is to talk about her coughing fits and how she's going to die any day because of them

its pretty annoying.

It was, and it happened a whole lot, I was definitely thinking what the hell is wrong with her throat. Good ass speech though.

Also, this parade of identity politics is condescending and embarrassing for everyone participating. Why can’t we just treat people like people? It would be nice if the Democrats had some African-Americans, Hispanics, gays, or women speak who did not think that their race/orientation/sex was the only interesting thing about themselves or even the most interesting thing about themselves.

he wasn't describing identity politics, he was complaining about it.  without knowing exactly who he was complaining about, it's a bit fuzzy, but to me his complaint sounds like very nearly the same thing - the emphasis of membership in a group identity over ideas.

Well I'm not sure he knows what identify politics is. Vote for me because I'm a woman is something that resonates because slightly over half of the populace are women. Vote for me because I'm black, hispanic, gay, generally won't work out so well and I've never seen that in a national campaign. If he meant that Hillary should sell something other than her dominant chromosome, then he should heed your advice and be better with words.

I'm not very political but the demo's seem to have an external locus of control on most of their stances.

"You didn't do well in school, it was the bankers fault!"

"You shot a killed someone? Its the teachers fault!"

Not that the republicans are any better but I really wish we had an internal locus of control/accountability party. All the scapegoating and name calling is becoming exceedingly juvenile across the spectrum.

Sure, but I'm not sure they all qualify as identity politics. I don't consider the crazy black cop and the Muslim prayer guy identity politics. I'm not as familiar with what happened this week to make that determination. Obviously there was lots of "SHE'S A WOMAN!!!" this week. If they could have gotten away with calling themselves the party of white people, I think the pubs would have done just that last week. So maybe he was right  :dunno: I just have a hard time with him using blacks, hispanics, and gays as examples because I'm not quite sure how that works.

it's the other way around, i think.  objectively, they are the party of white people, but need their parade of minorities to help their white voters not feel racist about being in the party of white people.

identity politics is complicated.  to some extent all politics is identity driven; every politician has to sell some story of who they are.  it's just a matter of degree.

Tim Ryan (D-OH) has started to figure it out. Hopefully he gets unelected. Better to keep this a secret, imho.

Quote
A Democratic lawmaker lamented after two special election losses Tuesday that his party’s brand “is worse than Trump.”

“We can’t just run against Trump,” Ohio Democratic Rep. Tim Ryan told The New York Times, saying Democrats need to send a concise economic message to voters.

https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/06/24/opinion/sunday/donald-trump-jon-ossoff-democrats.html?referer=https://www.realclearpolitics.com/

Delusion 1:
Quote
The Republicans have a wildly unpopular, unstable and untruthful president, and a Congress that veers between doing nothing and spitting out vicious bills, while the Democratic base is on fire and appalled millennials are racing away from Trump. Yet Democrats are stuck in loser gear.

Delusion 2:
Quote
Democrats cling to an idyllic version of a new progressive America where everyone tools around in electric cars, serenely uses gender-neutral bathrooms and happily searches the web for the best Obamacare options. In the Democrats’ vision, people are doing great and getting along. It is the opposite of Trump’s dark diorama of carnage and dystopia — but just as false a picture of America.
