Should have gone with Newt.

weird choice

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNG!

It's not Friday
-
He really really hates gays
-
Also really hates abortions
-
Move to get the evangelicals to the polls
-
Homosexual abortion is a yuuuge issue in this country.
-
Move to get the evangelicals to the polls
All those people already were voting against Hillary, bonehead move by the trumpinator

Gay haters aren't voting for Hillary, Trump already has them even though he hasn't been particularly gay hatey so far. Getting a vp that is best known for hating gays really does nothing for him.
I guess the pro-life thing might help him out because pro-lifers know trump is just pretending to be pro-life, but really none of those people are voting Hillary anyway.
What do you not agree with?

Evangelicals support Trump more than they did Mitt Romney!
Very revealing.

Pretty Accurate!
In fact, the survey found that the desire to defeat Mrs. Clinton was the prime reason evangelicals supported Mr. Trump. Of the 78 percent of white evangelicals who said they would vote for Mr. Trump, 45 percent said their decision was “mainly a vote against Clinton,” while only 30 percent said it was “mainly a vote for Trump.”

i guess i'm think more on a personal level of specific people i know, and polls from march saying that church going evangelicals weren't all that likely to support trump.

well, I guess you stand corrected then.

Is it really any surprise that white evangelicals would support a white "christian" at a higher rate than a Mormon?

mitt romney is infinity times more christian than donald trump

Especially one harassed by the irs for his deep Christian faith

OH NO crap? HUH
-
It is pretty telling that Trump, a man who clearly believes in almost none of the things that evangelicals profess to believe in, other than "owning libs" is so overwhelmingly popular. Meanwhile, Mitt Romney who is a perfect paragon of religious family man was subject to a whisper campaign and plenty of evangelicals stayed home on election day because his sect of Christianity has some strange beliefs.

I think if you look at the stats of church members/attenders the support for trump drops dramatically. At least, that was the case in a poll I saw in March. There was a difference between people engaged in worship services and those who are Christian or Evangelical in a more broad cultural sense.
-
It does disgust me that a man who embodies no spirit of charity, forgiveness, honesty, kindness, faithfulness, or compassion has support from people who claim to follow Jesus.
-
Or anyone who claims to follow human morality, attached to religion or simply following your own conscience, how could anyone want to follow that man
-
Trump will beat Hilary among evangelicals regardless. I think the move was to encourage evangelical turnout. Trump can keep saying/doing whatever absurd crap got him here and Pence can say "not really though" two hours later. Republicans will believe whichever one they want, not caring that they are contradictory, as Hillary is the anti-christ and must be stopped.
-

The alternative is even worse. That's why. You don't have to obfuscate this when it's so simple.

Correct. I consider myself a thoughtful, moral, religious, Christian (not sure if I qualify as Evangelical) but that doesn't mean I, or any other religious person, has to check their pragmatism at the door.
I will agree, sadly, that many Evangelicals did not vote for Mitt because of the Mormon factor.

if you go to a non-denom protestant church you are almost certainly evangelical.

if catholics really felt abortion was on the same level as actual murder, they would rise up and force change. but they understand it's not like actual murder, so here we are where if a catholic doesn't want an abortion they don't have to have one but other people can.

Yes Newt! If your religious belief dictates killing those that don't believe as you do, you should be deported.

Punishing thoughtcrime is the essence of america

Only if you articulate or record your violent intent, or, there is evidence of affiliation with such hate groups that practice sharia law.

Ah, pre-crime punishment, I see.

conspiracy theory (dax, listen up): Newt is going bonkers xenophopic crazy person to move the attention away from previous xenophobic crazy person Trump comments? like, trumps was all, "I've said some crazy rough ridin' crap so I need you to take it up a few notches so I can point at it and say at least I'm not THAT crazy"
-
Ah, pre-crime punishment, I see.
Yes, deport them if they aren't citizens.

So you are just going to let citizens get away with thoughtcrime? Doesn't sound like you want to keep us safe

We have to live with citizens no matter what, but not non-citizens. Just getting rid of unnecessary evil.

Still am, just draw the line at killers using our good nature and liberal laws against us. they can GTFO.

I debunked that argument in the abortion thread. One of these days when I have time I'll update the index of all the idiotic pro-abortion arguments and the responses there to. In the meantime please do a search.

In this same vein, I think we should deport anyone who votes for someone hoping they will pass laws based on Biblical principles.
If you believe the Constitution is based on the Bible, you should be deported. It's only fair.

I hope the media keeps banging the drum on this "Muslim ban" right up to Trump's election. The American people support it. As they should. How many attacks by radicalized Muslim immigrants is it going to take for the libs to catch up?
-
I don't know, the lib plan seems to be working okay in France.
-
So Trump wants a moratorium on immigration from certain predominantly Muslim countries to review our vetting process. And Hillary's hot take on Nice was:
Let’s be clear: Islam is not our adversary. Muslims are peaceful and tolerant people and have nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism.
Yes, liberals have found a real winning issue here. Keep banging that drum.
-
I think you might be overestimating the amount of xenophobia in this country

Did you do a google search before you asked that question? The attacker was a radical Islamist terrorist. Affiliation with ISIS unknown - though ISIS is claiming responsibility. Not sure why the Isis affiliation matters.
-
Btw - did the liberals finally decide to drop ISIL? Are we settled on ISIS or has John Kerry moved on to something else?
-
Also not worth its own thread, but MSNBC described the Nice event as a "deadly truck crash." True thing.

I don't understand why it is important for me to care if a terrorist is Muslim or not. I mean, I'm even willing to grant that all terrorists are Muslim so that it will just go without saying and no one tries to remind me. Why does it matter?
Similarly, atheists sometimes love to talk about bad things that have been done in the name of Christianity. Don't care. Doesn't matter.

I legit have not seen/read/heard evidence that he was a radical Islamist terrorist. I did see ISIS claim responsibility, but no links from the guy to any terrorist organization, no statement from him and lots of quotes about how he liked to salsa dance. I haven't read extensively about it but those were the initial quotes I saw.

It's significant when it comes to crafting immigration policy, for starters. France is getting their crap kicked because of their asinine immigration policies that permitted large blocks of Muslims to immigrate en masses and thereby not assimilate. Islam + non assimilation = radicalization.
We have the start of a similar problem. See the radicals spawned by the St. Paul MN muslim community. Meanwhile, Obama is trying to import tens of thousands of refugees from Muslim countries. There will be some bad apples who slip through in this group, but the bigger problem is their children when they don't assimilate.
There are also broader foreign policy consideration when it comes to combatting terrorism. It's a good idea to at least acknowledge that a certain culture is spawning most terrorism and adjust accordingly.
But to liberals, this is all "xenophobia."

That's a lot of conjecture. I don't accept much of it. Although, even if I did, I'm pretty committed to the idea behind the First Amedment. So, I don't really care if someone is Muslim whether they're a citizen or an immigrant.

I like this guy. We need a man from God running on a ticket. He hates planned hamburger that's good. And he brings a level normalness 2 the ticket. I also think he was the one that tried to pass laws to protect Christian businesses from attacks by militant lbgt wild-eyed mouth foaming militants and that is good.

There is a fair bit of research in to why so many of the terrorists hat have been involved in attacks in Europe are Francophone. One problem that you correctly identified is that Muslim immigrants in France almost never join the rest of society. Partially that may be due to the strong atheism and firm church-state separation that is a corner stone of much of French political and social life.
But perhaps, it has something to do with the burka bans and many, many other ways in which the French have worked to marginalize their Muslim minority. Le Pen and Trump fundamentally agree on the necessity of excluding Muslims outside from getting in, but also on the importance of marginalizing and excluding those already in the society.

You were so close to being right, but then you swerved left into the delusion ditch again. Yes, burka bans and marganializing Muslims (by putting them on welfare) is a big part of the problem...

I don't care if you accept it. It is true. If it makes you feel better to bury your head in the sand and call it conjecture, go right ahead. But you could do a little reading about it. You could google all the kids coming out of the Somali communities in Minneapolis/StP to join ISIS. You could read about the the Muslim ghettos outside Paris that are breeding grounds for radical Islam. Or, you know, keep calling it conjecture.

Time to warm up the Muslim internment camps until we can straighten this all out.

You could google all the kids coming out of the Somali communities in Minneapolis/StP to join ISIS. You could read about the the Muslim ghettos outside Paris that are breeding grounds for radical Islam. Or, you know, keep calling it conjecture.
No need to read.
I made another point about the idea behind the First Amendment. And what about the idea behind innocent until proven guilty? These are pretty American ideals, no?
We could absolutely prevent lots of citizen on citizen murders by easing up on the burden of proof and locking up more of the likelier killers. But that's not the way we prefer to do things here.

B.o. hated gays before he needed their votes
LOL, BO never gave a crap. He needed votes at first so that's why he pretended to be against it. You've got the flip-flop backwards, friend.
What a terrible person.
Hillary too. Big proponent of the defense of marriage act. Now lying to her Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) base that Trump is the threat to gays. Fine collection of subhuman assembled by the dems.

So you're not a trend spotter. That's okay.
If someone can explain the point, maybe I will be!

There is certainly a part of this that is economic, the unemployment rate for young people in Europe is outrageous. The unemployment rate for young immigrants higher yet. There are multiple reasons for that, (unskilled workers, a lack of opportunity, high barriers to entry in to the workforce vs. comparatively good welfare benefits).

There are not many constitutional rights that attach to aliens. All the more reason to tighten our immigration policies.

natural rights cannot apply to immigrants, as immigration is unnatural.

So the liberals have now found a constitutional right to immigrate to the US. It must be somewhere in the footnotes before or after killing babies.

When you think about it, Jesus' birth certificate would've been pretty lol.

So Mike Pence is trying to hide his misogyny behind some antiquated religiously motivated disillusionment that all women want to eff him.
-
It's either that or he's such a Katdaddy that he can't not eff any woman he's alone with.
I think wackycat08 had a thread about this subject once

I think Wackycat's thread (the one I remember) was more about Pence's other rule about not attending any event with alcohol unless his wife is with him. So all women want to eff him and if he drinks then he wants to eff all women.

The Pence stuff really doesn't bother me that much. For all I know he's boner city, USA any time he thinks about another woman who isn't his wife, and I think it's great that he knows himself well enough to control his unholy urges. I don't see the problem unless he forces his wife to abide by the same set of rules, anyway.
-
Unless he never has working dinners with anyone alone (no matter the gender) then what he is doing is illegal.

Surprised he isn't in full support of Burkas

I mean, it's not his fault women are so sexy. Don't they know a man can only control his raging viagra cialis scantily clad women induced boners so far?
In all seriousness, most of the stuff it's just kinda funny and doesn't bother me that much either since as long as both him and his wife are on even terms with it, none of our business. But it is pretty funny in just how old school it is, like seriously dude, I'm sure your wife appreciates how dedicated you are to her and you aren't going to cheat, doesn't mean you can't talk to other women

Yeah, the vice president of the United States of America probably doesn't have any women working for him, good point

I sort of doubt the vice president is having 1 on 1 working lunches with his staffers of any gender or really cares about their advancement.

His not meeting with them if there is a glass of Sutter Home around won't be the reason their career is hindered by him

It's amazing what liberals get upset about. Mike Pence won't eat dinner alone with a woman - "he's a mysoginist jeopardizing women's careers!" Bill Clinton sexually assaults any intern within cigar distance.... "It's just sex!"
What the hell? You people have lost your everloving minds.

i don't know if you are aware, sir, or a fan of trump/pence but trump once bragged abt grabbing women by the "pussy." it made the news last fall. some folks still voted for him anyway.

Btw, whoever said KSUWildcats practices this same thing totally nailed it.
I know another super religious guy that does this. I feel bad for him that all women are sexual objects 24/7 to him.

The Trump voters aren't the people losing their crap over Mike Pence, so what's your point?

he never eats alone with a woman and he won't attend events where alcohol is served and women will be present without his wife.
I mean, if you can't call someone a weirdo for that I am not sure what happened to free speech.

I mean, there is obviously two components. First is avoiding any appearance of impropriety, regardless of how Pence feels. He's basically saying to his wife (and the American public by now), I will give you zero reason to believe I am being unfaithful. Second, you don't have to infer he's concerned about ripping off his clothes when he's alone with another female. Affairs in real life don't work like that. They start with building a personal relationship and then increasingly confiding/building an intimate relationship with another person rather than your spouse.
It is also funny how several people have rushed to judge Pence for objectifying women, when they don't even consider that maybe Pence's concern is that women might try to jump in the pants of a silver fox like Pence and he does not want to tempt them. So maybe you should just stop and think about who is actually viewing women as purely sexual objects here. :Wha:

No thread, dumbass. I think it's weird to be married tho and plan lunches/dinners with other females away from work for fun. Of course there's exceptions. Mrs. Wacky's best friend from childhood is a dude and I probably have two girlfriends that I know who it wouldn't be weird with. If it's a casual person you barely know tho, it's rough ridin' weird.

I can dumbass, but I prefer group settings with friends anyways. This has nothing to do with coworkers. It's the casual person you just met. I know ppl who do this and it's rough ridin' weird. 1. I was responding more to the people accusing Pence of objectifying women. He could just as easily be objectifying himself.
2. Pence and his wife probably don't believe sexual attraction to the same sex is even a real thing, so there is probably no concern there. But if there were, then yes, I'd expect the same rules would apply.

There is one girl I would lunch with but she's pretty hot and no way my wife would be cool with it. Like she would pretend to be cool but inside she would be picturing herself kicking me in the balls really hard.

Also, on top of this, what if you have mumped said friends in the past, but ended up being just really good friends? Should my wife be cool with me going to lunch with them by myself? She would be because I've never cheated before, but deep down inside she'd probably hate it. I respect her feelings enough to stay away from that situation. It's about respecting your partner and nothing else.

Pretty sure scientists have developed a hotness/time scale that determines jealousy of spouses. You can get jealous when your spouse spends a little time with a super hot person or lot of time with a super ugly one.

He'd have ordered spicy if a man were at the register.

Living your life not eating spicy stuff seems like a very bland existence.

Considering that's deep in Crackerland, I'm sure the spicy consisted of a little salt, pepper, and paprika.

You flipped out over the term “Coronabros”, bud. You’re using racist slang. A bit of a difference between the two.

Still whining I see. I've never said a single thing about "coronabros." Orlando is about 50% white, there were dozens of people in that restaurant, all with the caucasity turned up to 10, not a speck of melanin, not a single facemask. Again this was no accident. I'm sure the Vice President found the only public gathering in Orlando without any black or brown people by complete accident.

The thing that's scary about Susie is her Borg like presentation. She can get on TV and tell us it's the Russians or a YouTube Video and do it with a steely precision. It's quite scary, but she's a (D) and that's all that matters.
Susie has hated and wanted to kill Russians for a long time, since the 90's, it's quite frightening actually.

Well in a shocker of all shockers MIR opens up with the race card and then claims I'm sexist simply because I said Harris was shitty in the debate regarding actual issues.
Nothing says I can defend my position and/or discuss the issues like firing an opening salvo of racism and sexism.

Yeah, that's total horse crap, a blatant lie, but it's red meat for the red hat, trump flag crew.
-
The mortality rate in France is 5%, there's over 500K active cases in France right now (it's 1/5th the size of the U.S. in population)
The mortality rate in the UK is 8%
The mortality rate in Italy is 10.6%
The mortality rate in Spain is 3.7%
The mortality rate in the U.S is . . . 2.7% (now with 115 million tests done)
The notion that the United States is "much higher" than other industrialized nation is red meat for putty brained BidenVoter (like the last two posters in this thread).
-
The question was about Covid deaths per capita dumb dumb. No one is disputing the US is good at treating Covid. We’ve just been dismally bad at controlling spread.

Those are nice numbers, whether they are accurate or not has literally zero to do what we were discussing.
To keep you on track, and give you the ability to vomit another MAGA talking point. The horse crap component of his answer has nothing to do with death rates.
1. They didn't ban travel from China when the virus was found in Washington State in February, they restricted some flights. That in no way can be construed as a travel ban.
2. We knew in late February that the early cases in the United States actually came from Europe, not from China. There were European travel restrictions but they came well after the virus has arrived and was widespread.
Okay now you can counter this with whatever other non sequitur sprinkled with corny nicknames you want.
-

France Covid-19 Death Rate Per Capita: .0004
United States Covid-19 Death Rate Per Capita: .0006
Spain Covid-19 Death Rate Per Capita: .0006
Italy Covid-19 Death Rate Per Capita: .0006
Belgium Covid-19 Death Rate per Capita: .0009
UK Covid-19 Death Rate per Capita: .0006
Again, red meat for putty brained Biden Voter.

The numbers are taken right off the real time world charts.
Your party had a total meltdown about the China travel restrictions, you would have completely lost your mind about any European travel restrictions at the same time.
Just another case of MIR selective memory (which is putting it mildly)

I see you’re out of talking points so I’ll just leave the Q here to make it clear what we’ve been discussing:
Our death rate is two and a half times that of Canada . . . You head the administration's coronavirus task force. Why is the U.S. death toll as a percentage of our population higher than that of almost every other wealthy country?
-

It was a terribly phrased question and relative to for example our industrialized NATO partners, there's not much difference.
Just like some doc who was on NPR or something similar said the other day, that I caught in passing. Why (for example) don't Egyptians get the RONA? Certainly not because of anything the government is doing or has done (paraphrasing his words). I have no idea if what he was saying was founded in any sort of reality outside of looking at the numbers, and he's right. Albeit they don't test much, so, who knows.
And no, I'm never out of talking points.

I didn't ignore, you just can't read. Which is BAU for you.
You'll also ignore the fact that your parties leadership highly criticized the travel restrictions (as I called them earlier) and you won't bring yourself to admit that your parties leaders and you, would have had a total meltdown had any European travel restrictions been put in at the same time. That's the second time I've addressed this and the travel restrictions in the last several posts.

Yes, the democrats got angry with the Chinese travel restrictions, why would you restrict travel from simply China when it had already spread everywhere?
No, the completely ineffective Chinese travel restrictions, had no real effect on the spread of coronavirus in America and there's no model that proves that they saved millions or even thousands of lives by doing so.

lol @ Trump not enforcing European travel restrictions because he doesn't want to upset Democrats
He won't admit it but he felt just as silly typing that as we did reading it.

The   part of this is that your parties leadership. 1. Told people to ignore Trump and go out and party. 2. Had a total meltdown about any travel restrictions imposed. 3. The primary media mouthpieces of your party ran with: You'll have a better chance of (________) then getting Coronavirus, Don't let Trump use Corona to consolidate power, Don't let Trump use Corona to deflect from impeachment etc. etc. etc.
So yes, call me a dumbass for continuing to engage you on this because you simply will not admit to the bullshit positions that the leaders of your party took relative to Covid-19 and you won't admit to the storylines that your parties media mouthpieces were running with at the time.
The K-Street Stooge War Mongering Mega-Corrupt Racist your party is running for POTUS called Trump's travel restrictions Xenophobic.

The E.D. Tex. judge appointed by Trump just poured Gohmert and the other plaintiffs out of court (the suit "against" Pence), citing lack of standing. I don't think the treason aspersions deserve me even addressing them, for reasons too obvious and numerous to count. The past few months make me feel somewhat vindicated in my defense of the federal judiciary over the past few years. While these lawsuits are complete jokes, at least we're establishing precedent for the next time a madman president throws a temper tantrum over the results of an election.

You've definitely had some wins here, in our years long debate over the judiciary, however the federal judges not kowtowing to this insanity around all of these post election lawsuits aren't it. This stuff is far too extreme to be taken seriously when examining litmus tests. We'll get a much better sense of this the next 6-10 years or so, if the incoming administration is forceful with policy, it's very obvious the republicans are going to sue literally every time a policy decision doesn't go their way.
