From my understanding, para-O's comittee put full ban in place. Olympic committee was banning certain people only but readmitted a few that tested positive previously but "served" some kind of punishment.
"With only athletics, rowing, weightlifting and canoeing taking a hard line, the final size of the Russian team was announced at 271.
But several Russian athletes, including the swimmer Yuliya Efimova, could also be readmitted after the court of arbitration for sport ruled that the IOC’s ban on those who had previously served sanctions would not be upheld."
Yuli swam last night and was boo'ed coming out by the entire center and ended up getting 1st in her semi, which she started wagging her finger at everyone. Then it zoomed in on US Lilly and she was wagging her finger back and then came out and beat her time by like a millisecond. So they will be heads up tonight pretty much.

The US and Italy men's volleyball match is some really great play. I have it on in the background at my office.

In that 1st set, the USA men were trying to mimick the USA Women breakdown as they let a 15-8 and 21-17 lead slip away (lost 30-28). Anderson and Russel were bad early on. Anderson just 6/20 on spikes, Russel 7/17 with 3 spikes out of bounds.
But they have rebounded nicely so far. They were down 20-16 in the 2nd, rallied to win 28-26.
Now we are just spanking them in the 3rd. Got up 18-4. Won 25-9
We are up 2 sets to 1. 4th set just starting

Anderson is killing us. Up 22-20, he gets blocked for a point, then hits a spike out of bounds....this allowed Italy best server to keep serving bombs. He then got 3 straight aces. 6 straight pts for Italy and they win 25-22.

That was 9 of Italy's first 13 pts in the 5th. We just gave away the game with mental/physical miscues. Erie similar to USA women loss in Semis.

Since we're doing volleyball topics I didn't address, we'll get back to this. No. Shorts have drawstrings in them that keep them up. I have worn shorts while playing volleyball for as long as I've been playing, all men wear shorts. There is no defensible or rational reason why women's volleyball uniforms look like they do.

I think this kind of stuff is largely dependent on what the athletes prefer to wear. Skirts in tennis, for example, are absolutely not mandatory. Women just like them because they think they're cuter or more feminine or whatever. That"s fine.

This actually makes sense. I csn get behind this rationale.
Since we're doing volleyball topics I didn't address, we'll get back to this. No. Shorts have drawstrings in them that keep them up. I have worn shorts while playing volleyball for as long as I've been playing, all men wear shorts. There is no defensible or rational reason why women's volleyball uniforms look like they do.
I wholeheartedly agree. That was just the best reason I could possibly imagine. I think it's to sex up the game and it is unnecessary.
