Obviously, Colorado State wants into the Big 12. Here's an aerial view of the new on-campus stadium construction. It's about 2 weeks old.

I'm not here to troll. I just want K-State fans to know that CSU very much wants to be part of the Big 12 and is making pretty significant investments (academically and athletically). Good luck in football this season. We'll be looking forward to you all coming to a BB game in Denver in Dec.
-
Almost all KSU fans hate our basketball coach, so they won't be there or follow the game at all. Just FYI.
-
Congrats...it will look very nice as long as they don't half-ass the finishes like Baylor. I enjoyed your Stadium Fly-Through. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPat61kj_JQ&list=PLYO3Ts6JoiZBPlHqLsgaCn_PD0hFjVSqj&index=4 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPat61kj_JQ&list=PLYO3Ts6JoiZBPlHqLsgaCn_PD0hFjVSqj&index=4)
How did you guys pay for it? Asking for a KU friend of mine.

Weed.

I would like Colorado State to be a part of the B12. and ISU and WVU to not be parts of it.
-
Do you throw AA batteries at CU fans during the Rocky Mountain Showdown?
-
Also, how many times would you say that you rock out to "Rocky Mountain High" per sporting event?

I’m not a finance guy, so I’m probably not the best to respond but I’ll give it a shot. The total stadium cost is $220 million. It is being financed by revenue from the stadium including ticket sales, weddings, and all sorts of other catered events. In the fly through you can see many of the meeting areas that will be available for these types of events. The President made the advisory board go through all kinds of financial models to make sure the bonds could be repaid without dipping into the General Fund or increasing tuition. Private donations for the stadium are in the $40-60 million range currently.
From the FAQ about the stadium, it reads; “The stadium is financed by investors and donors and does not rely on any funding from tuition or state funding. Bond payments will be made from stadium revenues and private donations. Bonds for the new stadium sold in less than 90 minutes on March 19, and certain series of bonds within the package were as much as three times oversubscribed. The total bond package delivered a true interest rate of 3.57 percent.”
-
it's being funded by weddings?
-
I would like Colorado State to be a part of the B12. and ISU and WVU to not be parts of it.
Both of my parents were born and raised in KC and I still have a lot of family in the area. Many of my relatives went to KU or KSU, so it’d be a good rivalry for us.
Regarding Iowa St: Our BB coach is former Cyclone HC Larry Eustachy and I think it’d add intrigue if we were in the same conference with them.

Larry Eustachy adds intrigue wherever alcohol is present.

endowment, tho.
-
Sorry to burst your bubble, but the B12 is way too wholesome for Ganja Aggy. We don't need that kind of culture in our untarnished Big 12. Sure, Baylor and KU have a few issues with women, but that isn't as big of a deal as including a dirty hippy weed smoker like you guys.
Also, if you are having funding issues, maybe you should have big garage sales/flea markets at the stadium to increase revenue.
-
Speaking as a KSU grad living in Fort Collins, this needs to happen.
-
RamSack, welcome to the show.
-
Do you throw AA batteries at CU fans during the Rocky Mountain Showdown?
Sorry, but I don’t have any idea where this came from. If there was an incident where a CSU fan threw batteries at a CU player or fan, I’ll be the first to say I’m sorry for the a-hole who did that. That’s not representative of 99.9% of CSU fans. Every fan base has some bad apples and CSU is no different.

That's good to hear. Any riots planned in this new stadium like at Mile High in 1999 or has that life phase been outgrown? :Hook'em:

Is this the same Colorado school we kicked out of the big 12 for sucking ass at football and hosting rape parties as part of football recruiting?
If so, a 30k stadium / wedding reception hall / Realtors convention center wouldn't get you in, in the first place, and certainly won't cure past misconduct of that degree.

I think you see in the link why an on-campus stadium is being built. As far as Moby Arena goes, it holds 8745. Yeah, not the biggest, but it holds it's own. Opposing teams say that it's difficult to play there because the stairs are quite steep which gets the fans closer to the sidelines. I love watching BB games when it's full.
The CSU vs KSU game will be at the Pepsi Center in Denver (where the Nuggets and Avs play).

No, that's them rich, arrogant kids from out-of-state that come to Colorado to look poor. About half of CU is from out-of-state, no kidding. CSU is where kids from Colorado go to school.

do you guys have a crop judging team? because if so get ready to get your dicks kicked in the dirt, literally

Been a number of years since I was there...is that Ram scoreboard still lovin' it?

is that guy still sleeping under the bleachers?

KU should do the same out by their new running track complex. Make the taxpayers foot the bill.
-
No joke, I almost went to CSU. They almost got me when they told me all undergrad students get free season tickets for football. Then I realized what that really meant. I mean, free is great and all, but if someone offered you a free steak that had been neglected and left to sit out in the sunshine for two days, would you still eat it? I guess if you like maggots or something...
With that being said, how did they raise that money again?

Yeah, Larry has some pretty interesting history on his ISU road trips. He knew the hot spots...so to speak.

All students pay some sort of athletics fee embedded in their tuition instead of charging for season tickets. I don't remember how much it is, but it's probably a wash for the students who go to the games and a boon for the university which has increased it's enrollment by 15k in the last 20 years.
Folks that buy tickets like me are footing the bill for the stadium. There have also been some sizeable donations. The student fees are not being used to fund the stadium.

CSU was my #3 school.

The guy drinks about a 12 pack of Coke during each game now. Larry has his demons, but is a good coach and would make CSU competitive in the Big 12 just like he did with ISU.

Soil judging, you guys any good, like at all?

You guys are aware that you'd be signing up to be dominated by TCU again, right?

That won't continue. We got Jamie Dixon this offseason and he's already improved the recruiting tremendously.

That's because our boosters didn't really care about basketball. We have a shiny new arena to win in, so that will be changing.

We might as well invite these guys once the BigXII kicks Baylor out of the conference. You down, RamSack?

Absolutely. I'm sure TCU would be okay with it too.

West Stadium Center Named Top 20 Sports Destination for Weddings
And speaking of recognition, WeddingWire chose the West Stadium Center out of more than a thousand venues as of one its 20 winners of the 2016 Editors' Picks awards for the best sports themed venues for weddings. Just another step in our quest of being a Model Intercollegiate Athletics Program and building the K-State brand!
I'll be damned. Also, suck it ramsack

it's being funded by weddings?
I thought that might raise some eyebrows. Weddings happen year-round and is one example the advisory board used as being a source of income to help pay for the stadium. It’s probably more likely that people will rent out a space for a wedding reception though. And, yes, people do get married at stadiums. Other obvious events include business meetings, holiday parties, etc. Basically anything that hotels rent their spaces for are the same types of events CSU will be renting their stadium areas out for.
Extremely white trash

Fortunately for us, we don't have to rely on them this year either. All boxes and premium seating are already sold out. Weddings and other corporate events were built into the financial model (as they should be) and are just gravy (at least this year).
-
Not sure what is more awful. The stadium or your choice in music for that video?
-
I think it looks great, except for that one section next to the press box in the upper deck. You know the one, the one that sticks back up on the outer edge of the upper deck. Just looks extremely LOL
-
The lights that hang out past the sides of the press box kind of bug me too.
-

If you give a better idea of where you'll be and your interests, I can add more detail. Here's some idea for the Fort Collins area.
1) Go on a brewery tour. KC has BBQ, we have beer. Like kstofer said, Horse & Dragon is a great place (a little out of the way, but worth it). I also like Equinox which is in Old Town Ft Collins. New Belgium and Odell's are more national brands, but they're huge and more touristy than those mentioned above. There's a ton of breweries here, but only a handful I'd recommend. There are organized tours if you don't want to drive or you can Uber it.
2) Drive by CSU's new stadium and check it out in person. I think you'll like CSU's campus.
3) Go to a pot shop and check it out even if you don't buy anything. It's an interesting experience. I'd suggest the one on Mountain Ave in Old Town Ft Collins. It's probably a 5 minute walk east of Equinox Brewery above.
4) If you're in Loveland, drive up the Big Thompson Canyon. Hwy 34 is closed past the narrows part of the Big Thompson Canyon, but this is the stunning part of the drive. It's really pretty.
5) If in Ft Collins and only have limited time, drive around Horsetooth Dam. There's some decent hiking around there too including a trail up to the base of Horsetooth Rock.
6) Another drive is to go up Hwy 14. Cameron pass is good turnaround point on this drive. Grey Rock hiking trail is on the way (3 miles each way). Cameron Pass is probably a 2 hour drive from Ft Collins.
7) Go skiing if you have time. We've been getting a lot of snow in the mountains this year. Skiing is about an hour from Denver (2 hours from Ft Collins).
I hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions.

This is a good list and much more thorough than mine. The Poudre Canyon (up Hwy. 14 like Mike said) is great, especially if you have the time to go all the way up to Cameron Pass. The lower half of Big Thompson (Hwy. 34) is more impressive though if you have a limited amount of time, and you're more likely to see wildlife there (bighorn sheep).
If you have little ones there is a very family-friendly hike on the west side on Loveland called Devil's Backbone, only 1 mile to a natural viewpoint. Also, if you are in Loveland and the womenfolk are tired of beer, there is a great brewery/cidery combo called Big Beaver Brewing/Climb Hard Cider - bonus is that you can only get beer on one side and cider on the other so it's a great excuse for some healthy separation.
-
Guys, I got so high and went on a spiritual journey at a Ryan Bingham concert at the Mishawaka Amphitheater one time. Man, it was amazing.
Guess I'm just throwing it out there cause it's right on the pooder (I guess hwy. 14). So do that if you can, Y_L_A.

Stadium watch: Colorado State Stadium
Some Power 5 fans will be envious of the $220 million facility Colorado State opens later this month. CSU's new stadium features large concourses, 352 luxury suites, an SEC-sized video board and a 10,000-seat student section (nearly one-fourth of the 41,200 capacity). The stadium debuts Aug. 26 when Colorado State hosts Oregon State.

No friend, that's 22 luxury suites with seating for 16 people in each. Or about 50 suites less than K-State has.

For its intended use as a MW level stadium, I like it.
-
Yeah that's a pretty good stadium. Mike you should drop some pics of it all over the Phog or whatever it's called these days and laugh in their stupid faces.
-
top 15 Go5 stadium, probably. Wouldn't crack the top 50 P5 stadiums though. All in all, congrats to Mike.

Stadium looks nice, but what's with the music in that video?

Yes, what in the world?
Also why are the stands so far away from the field?
-
Keep the rams focused on the field instead of climbing into the stands :dunno:

It's also built to accommodate soccer...probably a couple other sports too.

Cool, so when college football is exclusively a Southern thing, because all the soccer mom's don't realize that soccer is the second highest percentage of head injuries in youth sports (and climbing) and pull all the kids out of football. CSU Men's soccer will have a great venue, already good to go.
-
I don't think the stands are that far back. I think those dashed yellow and white lines are standard dimensions for stadiums that can fit them. The stands aren't that far off those lines. I think it looks that way because the stadium just isn't that big. Also, if you look at the opposite side, the field wall looks pretty high, putting the first row above the players on the sideline.

What's going in the end zone without stands?
It's the New Belgium Porch, a VIP area. From the CSU site:
"The New Belgium Porch
Few experiences will rival enjoying Rams Football amidst the lively atmosphere of the New Belgium Porch. Located in the north end zone, the area boasts two premium bars and a field level drink rail just yards away from the action. Look no further than the New Belgium Porch for a unique way to experience Fort Collins’ craft beer scene and Rams football altogether!
Passes to the New Belgium Porch are $200 each (Donation).
Fans are able to reserve the same number of memberships as they have premium or priority season tickets. A portion of your donation may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor."

No, soccer has their own stadium which is much much smaller. I don't remember why, but it was brought up that they wanted to make sure the new stadium could support other sports like soccer. Like someone else said, the pictures/video probably make the field seem further away than it really is. We have an open house scrimmage this Saturday so I'll be able to confirm because I know you all are dying to know.

That's just for that area. There are others. Plus, this doesn't account for the 'donation' required for seats. Here's a link to the other VIP areas. https://stadium.colostate.edu/vip/
Here's another article that shows how "poor" CSU fans are.

We need more Big 12 teams to visit our new stadium. Texas Tech is the only one with a big enough sack to take up the challenge so far...

Texas Tech has visited everyone's stadium though. They're kind of a slut, tbh.

Dude wasn't going to get any playing time at UCLA. Mediocre grad transfers want time on the field, other wise they would sit on the bench where they were.

Jealous. Would love $38mill to go toward another reno and to get Bill's name off the stadium at the same time (can put his name on the field, I guess).
-
That is pretty nice actually.
Mike, I'm going to be in the area in May and if time allows was hoping to do some stadium creeping. Is it easy to do there or do they have the place locked up?
-

lol what's your beef with Bill's name on the stadium? plenty of stadiums are named after coaches. few did as much for the university as Snyder.
-
i mean you could still have both, KanEquip LHC Bill Snyder Family Stadium

LHC Bill Snyder Field at KanEquip Stadium. Find lots of bags to hold all the money or get zero money and continue to inflate Bill's ego into thinking his son is the only one capable of running the program?
"Mike McCoy with the hard earned 5 yard run to get the cats into the Case IH redzone on LHC Bill Snyder field here at KanEquip Stadium, GOOD FOR A WILDCAT..." :CHA-CHING:
"Brent Venables really has these cats running around on LHC Bill Snyder Field at KanEquip Stade, back to you Wyatt" "Thanks, Chilidog Matt." :CASH CHECK SOUND:

I was kind of kidding at first, but I think I just talked myself into it.

Brock,
Good to hear that you'll be in town. Fort Collins is a great place to be in May. To answer your question; it's hard to know if it will be unlocked or not, but you can get a pretty good view of the place from the north side (Pitkin St) which is the open end of the bowl that opens to the heart of campus. It also happens to be where the main gates are so if it's open, then you'll know. I'll check around to see if I can get better info and post it here.
*UPDATE: Tours are open to the public M-F throughout the year. Follow the link to sign up.

Hi Greg,
Here are some suggestions:
1) Breakfast/Coffee: Note: There are some coffee houses around campus, but I can't vouch for any of them because I've never been to any of them, but I can vouch for these breakfast places.

Coopersmith's also has large pool tables that can be rented by the hour. Nicest tables in town, good beer and good food.

It's close to the west end of campus and is a good place to catch a buzz, grab a bite and stumble home without worrying about driving if you live close to campus. It's the kind of place where you place your order at the bar, pay, then they call your name when your food is ready. The portions are large. I'm a beer drinker, but the margaritas and other mixed drinks are large and look good. The tacos aren't nearly as good as the ones I had in San Diego earlier this month, but they're ok.

I don't know if San Diego has a location. I ate at the "Taco Stand" in San Diego and they were much better than the ones I got at Fuzzy's in Fort Collins. Taco Stand in San Diego link:

I just read this 1 star Google review of CSU's new stadium and am now having second thoughts on visiting:
Patrick Crowell
11 reviews?1 photo
? a month ago I am a CSU alum '11 and am petitioning that CSU formally dedicates this stadium as a monument to Koyaanisqatsi. At the time it was built, CSU had too much money sitting around and was devoting too much space on campus to so-called "agricultural science" (see attached pictures of the space just prior to construction - debunked greenhouses everywhere). Also there were rumors circulating that if CSU didn't build the stadium, the Rams were moving to Los Angeles. In true Trumpian fashion, the brash university president Tony Frank stared down the oppressive oil-moneyed alumni and told them, "we want a new stadium and you are going to pay for some of it." And those same alumni are still around now, 9 days out of the year you can find them sitting in posh luxury boxes overlooking a plastic field where unpaid students wearing plastic uniforms beat the living hell out of each other. That said, the artificial turf makes this a great venue for public executions, or so I am told.
