Title: Seattle Thread (Royals related for this wknd)
Post by: pvegs on April 26, 2016, 08:43:20 PM
Hi guys, I do not spend much time on the combo board, but I was talking to Trim about some GE'emawers visiting for the wknd. If you guys need suggestions, directions, etc, or would like to meet up before the Royals/M's game, I am going with a frond this Saturday. Feel free to DM me, respond to this thread, or be like, "WTF, pvegs, we already have a Seattle thread, here it is."

What is now the general seattle thread: http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=30446.msg1349648#msg1349648

Past seattlePAK threads:

http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=20976.0

http://goEMAW.com/forum/index.php?topic=25254.0

We can keep this one as is for this specific PAK weekend.

Here's what I know:

King, PMShead and PurpleBear arrive Thursday night.  Probably enough time to still get dinner and then PAK.

Friday day - ???  Friday night - there's a royals game that nobody seems deadset on going to.  Gooches arrive like at midnight and go to their belltown hotel so thinking we might party there so they can meet us easily.

Saturday day - ???  Saturday night - baseball game, not sure what I'll do given my war with the mariners.

Sunday - PMShead and Bear head out before or by noon.  Might use that day to go out east and hike if my buddy's available, or it'll be another free day of ???  King gets on a red-eye that night at midnight.

Monday - Gooches fly home sometime in the morning I think.  2pm city council session on sonics arena.  Some sort of chaos thereafter depending how the vote goes.

We might as well stay up all night Sunday night. Our flight leaves at 5:30am which means we need to be at the airport at like 3:30, so I guess we need to leave downtown at what 2:30? Which is actually like 12:30am Central time.

But yeah, lol at your southwest flights that are putting you in Seattle for like 2 days out of 4 days off.  And yeah, you might as well not have a downtown hotel for that Sunday night.  It's possible traffic is gonna be insane even that early Monday morning because of "Viadoom II."  You could roll with Winters to the airport for his midnight flight and get dibs on a comfortable place to lay down for a few hours.  Or pay a few bucks for a shitty airport hotel to nap in for a few hours.

We probably don't even need a hotel for Friday night as we are arriving at 10:30pm which is 12:30am CST*. We could just sleep on the plane and be ready to stay up all night.

For real though, if nothing can be done about your flights, dump that 3rd night in belltown unless it's free as part of a multi-night deal or you think you can go to sleep at 6:30pm that night.  Check out Sunday morning instead, dump your stuff at my place, pak all day, and take the light rail towards the airport sometime late Sunday night after which you'd either hang out at the airport for a few hours or crash at an airport hotel.

I think the Locks are pretty great, but I also commercially fish for salmon, so I would geek out on those things. If you go in the spring/summer/fall you can usually catch fish actually swimming through the fish ladder, which is cool. Any trip to the locks also begs for a trip to the Fisherman's Terminal and a jaunt north to Shilshole Marina and the beach at Golden Gardens. Downtown Ballard is also chill.

Def want to go explore Ballard at some point, even if not this weekend.  I've hit a few spots there but only in conjunction w/going to the fred meyer that way, so I've never had time to park, or better yet not drive there at all, and walk around.

I have to go and apologize to the owner because I PI'd him at a sonics hearing when I thought he was a mariners rep.  He was wearing a mariners sweater vest at the time, but was there to speak in support of the arena and his bar is where celebrating any good news on that front takes place.  My bad.

You ain't never been to Ballard proper? Wth, Trim? I can invite my friend to a Chinatown pak, about which I can only say FORT ST. GEORGE. Bush Garden and House of Hong, also good. But I also would like to get to the game early in order to have (roughly) 6 hot dogs and congratulate Hoz on saving that girl's life at the Bieber concert.

Yeah, I've just driven through Ballard at times for other routine trips and stopped on a couple to eat, but never gone there and taken it all in with nothing to get back to quickly.

Me and zombie KK did Fort St. George.  It was incredible.  Also took RDrils through there on an afternoon she was passing through to go see family down south.

I still don't know what to do about the game.  The mariners took their most definitive crap yet on the sonics wednesday, and then came out the next day having finalized a scheduling agreement that should clear the arena's path.

I can tell I'm gonna be hungover for the next 3 days.  Bear's periscope from last night is probably still up.

Some dude hijacked a commercial plane (GTA style, from the ground, with no one else in it) and did a barrel roll before crashing into the water
