Tim Fitzgerald believes it's time to get rid of oscar Weber, and I agree.
https://kansasstate.n.rivals.com/news/from-fitz-underwood-has-earned-his-shot-at-k-state
ITT, post if you agree that it's time to get rid of oscar Weber.
-
I wholeheartedly agree with Tim Fitzgerald. I've never had a problem with him to be honest, and I don't here.
Here's to FITZ and his tantrum!

YEP!

Yah Fitz

I have been a staunch oscar supporter, and quite frankly, part of me still feels like he still needs more time.
However, if Fitz says it's time, I guess I will have to reconcile and get on board.

I liked his passive aggressive shots at Currie.

Solidarity and all. I can probably get them on board.

Currie put a pin in basketball the second we turned down any of the remaining post-season tournaments. When Weber gets fired and who replaces him has already been relegated to the bottom of the pile. Our only chance is for Brad to act against his own best interests and stick around another year in the pines of east texas and Weber avoids scraping together a .500 season next year so Currie has a reason to fire him. So much adversity.

Let me know if oscar wants Cold Stone or Call Hall, I got the tab.

When was the last time everyone agreed on something like this. It's amazing. I only hope John Currie understands K-State fans well enough to survive this.

I want the pinned thread title on this board to read " Brad Underwood IS coming to K-State"

It would seem that anyone who is opposed to this is announcing to the majority of K-State fans that they do not share the same values.

He regularly complained to Martin about his sideline demeanor, his yelling at players, and often much more trivial matters. Five years ago, Martin told me Currie informed him that one of Martin’s assistant coaches “stood up” too often during games. That coach was Brad Underwood
.
Good lord what a small minded micromanager.

Retired from writing about sports. He's moved on to a different career path and is doing quite well.

Hit @KState_Pres on Twitter. Tell him what needs to be done. I (@bkparallax) did it. He responded to me on the allegation that Fitz made that the Admin was going to have spies in the student section at the KU game:
False - this is ridiculous Kirk H. Schulz added,
bkParallax @bkparallax
Fitz on radio said Admin going to have spies in student section looking for sportsmanship violators. True or False? https://twitter.com/kstate_pres/status/700700605493305344 …

Man, oscar has even been subconsciously telling us all along that he even knows Brad's the better man. You need to be outstanding on the bench (Brad) and not out standing on the floor (oscar).....
Really do wonder how Currie rationalizes oscar's antics.....

The only down side for Currie I see is the money issues, which is probably his biggest issues, since he cares more about that than wins or losses. But if Brad doesn't work out everyone will forgive him. But if Brad works out at OSU, it's a firable offense.

If Brad doesn't work out, I don't think Currie would still be around to pick a 3rd basketball coach. Brad would work out, though.

Brad will stimulate the basketball rev for a season or two, even if he was no better than oscar.
The money diff would be practically nothing.

He won't and that is what makes this all so frustrating, Bc it would be in his self interest to hire Brad too.

maybe, but i've heard enough random crap over the past four years that i think weber was the only one considered and was maybe/probably even being considered and talked to behind the scenes before frank left.
his overall career win percentage, illinois attendance while he was the coach, national champ runner up, wouldn't cost more than frank, less of a headache than frank, very strong support from kstate great gene keady.

The last line makes me wonder...
Is Currie so out of touch that he thought a vote of approval from Gene Keady would matter? He realizes that the relationship between KSU and Keady is pretty much non-existant to negative, right?

No it isn't. There's a lot of steps involved in actually executing this easy choice. Back then, all that had to be done was do anything other than not hire national laughingstock oscar weber. Like, they could've done absolutely nothing and waited weeks to hire somebody or just gone w/o a coach and it would've been better than making a 2nd trip to the trash can (this time, figurative) and pulling out oscar weber and slapping a purple blazer on him.

Hiring just about any coach then would've brought some criticism. Now he can make a coaching choice that is unassailable. He essentially has an easy button sitting on his desk and all he has to do is push it.

If this doesn't happen, no way brad ever ends up here unless Currie is gone.

There are very few things that Currie could do that would rally pretty universal K-State support than this.

If we were to find a way to hire Chip Kelly to replace LHC Bill Snyder, I think it would be several percentage points below hiring Brad.
There is literally no box he doesn't check as a candidate. Kansan. Alumni. Played for Hartman. AHC during our best stretch in 30 years. Unprecedented winner. Media darling.
There are zero drawbacks to hiring Brad. Zero. I am at a loss to think of any other potential hire, in any sport, that would draw so much universal support at any school in this conference.
I mean, if KU said they were going to hire Brad Stevens after Self retired, that wouldn't get the level of support Underwood would get here, day one.
-
I would say it is a slam dunk hire, but I've watched enough bad K-State basketball to know this has a higher rate of success than a slam dunk.

Yeah, it's super easy, but still not as easy as NOT hiring oscar weber. I'm not talking about who he'd have hired instead, just not hiring the guy who weeks earlier had been featured on sportscenter for having the most lol presser of the year and was subsequently mocked nationally by every college hoops person in america. And then fired. And with no other options than college of charleston.
Saying "nah, we'll keep looking" was an even easier thing than the incredibly easy thing of trying to get underwood.

-
I'm imagining how much better Boyle would have been than oscar. Or even the Alford rumor.
alford, really? he would have been so hateable too, tho for much different reasons than oscar. boyle didn't really do it for me either, even at the time.

He wouldn't be around as many elite recruits here.

Ya, clearly option A in MHK
Imagine the puffdad posts!

Omg, "going to Las Vegas doesn't align with curries values"

Fitz dropping bombs on Currie. Going full on with Underwood.
-
More updates!
-
Keitzman is hopping on the train.
Keitzman said Fitz convinced him and we should make the move.
-
I AGREE WITH FITZ!!!
especially liked him calling gE the "small but vocal minority that was against Weber from the start"
-
Ha. Keitz just said "eff it, I'm in". :driving:
-
And Keitzman just said that Currie has a divide with his fan base. He's good with the money thing, but not the coaching thing.
Fitz agreed.
Now they're picking on the sportsmanship.
-
AGREE WITH KIETZ THAT WE SHOULD FIRE oscar IMMEDIATELY
-
Man, now they're admitting Currie is moving on at some point, and this is going to follow him.
They're also saying that Wefald would have walked into Currie's office and told him to hire Underwood.
Great radio.
-
We haven't slowly brought the entirety of the fanbase and media around from completely against us to completely in agreement with us since we fired Ron Prince
-
BITB saying oscar should resign and go find another job where there's less pressure.
-
Fitz 810 Recap:
-Fitz thinks Jamie Dixon to TCU is a good hire. He is happy they're trying to get better and thinks hiring an alumni is a good idea. Says there is a lot of opportunity to make that program much better.
-There was a fake tweet about oscar Weber being fired yesterday. Kietz knew it was fake immediately but some people didn't. Fitz wrote an article that Brad Underwood should be the coach at KSU.
-Fitz agrees with Kietz that Currie won't do anything regarding the coaching situation at KSU. He believes Currie has stayed far away from the situation but thinks fans have turned on oscar since the home Texas loss this year.
-Fitz called out gE as a vocal minority who never gave oscar a chance. Fitz gave oscar a chance until the end of this year, but now believes he is failing. Stated the Deb Patterson firing example.
-Kietz thinks oscar should be fired if he misses the tournament next year.
-Both think KSU was going to go to the Vegas 16 but backed out, but neither has a source. Mentioned affording the trip for some weird reason. A staff member at GoPowercat was told that going to Vegas is not in line with KSU basketball tradition. Alluded to Vegas not being a trip Currie wants to send his players on.
-Fitz has known Brad Underwood since high school.
-Kietz thinks KSU fans want a more "in your face" type team and aren't getting that with oscar Weber.
-Kietz thinks KSU needs moral flexibility in coaching in basketball. Mentioned the trash can receipt and called coaching under Currie an uphill climb.
-Fitz thinks the KSU admin. has lost its way because they're more worried about what's going on in the stands than on the court.
-More on Currie's decision to suspend Samuels...
-If Kietz was the AD he would reach out to Brad quietly to take the job, but doesn't think Currie will do that.
-Fitz is confident that the team will be better next year than they are this year, but isn't confident they will be better 3-4 years down.
-Brad has told Fitz that KSU is his dream job and wants to raise his kids here. Fitz believes he has earned the job.
-Kietz thinks oscar's term at KSU is beginning to look a lot like Illinois.
-Fitz thinks OSU is the 2nd school on Brad's list based on his ties to OSU.
-Kietz randomly put Fitz on hold? Fitz blamed Sprint.
-Brad is a Jack Hartman "guy" according to Fitz.
-Fitz thinks if KSU doesn't hire Brad now, it would be unlikely that they ever would. Wouldn't rule it out yet. Fitz says Brad is the best choice for KSU basketball right now.
-Kietz blames Lon for leaving KSU and creating the stereotype that you can't recruit to MHK.
-Kietz says he turned on oscar when KSU got smoked by KU at the Sprint Center this year. Said there was "horrendous" effort.
-If Kietz was the AD, he would pull the trigger. Thinks Brad wants to be there and the KSU fans would love him.
-Fitz sat in press row for the KSU-KU Sprint Center game.
-Fitz thinks KSU fans are upset they aren't watching basketball and are watching former KSU coaches win NCAA tournament games makes them mad.
-Fitz has nothing against oscar and has been offended by the personal attacks on his since day 1.
-Kietz thinks there is a divide between Currie and the fans. Thinks Snyder and Currie don't get along and Currie has a poor feel for the sports part of being an AD. Kietz thinks Currie is a fantastic businessman. Fitz thinks Currie will have a great legacy at KSU because of the football stadium.
-Fitz thinks Currie has broken the relationship with fans completely.
-Fitz says there is a 10% chance something happens. Kietz says it sounds high. Fitz thinks the silence is confusing. Kietz thinks 5-10%.
-Fitz thinks there is a lot more too this situation than Currie realizes. Kietz thinks Currie doesn't care and as long as he follows the rules and Schulz is happy with him he won't feel the heat.
-Both agree this will follow Currie to his next job if he lets Brad go to OSU.
-Shameless plug to read GoPowercat by Fitz.
-Kietz thinks the most likely scenario is oscar retires or nothing will happen.
-
I agreed with everything tim said, except for the fact that there was a vocal minority that was not fair to weber at the very beginning. we were very fair to him. calling a crappy hire a crappy hire isn't unfair and not wanting the crappy coach, coaching your school, is not unfair. it's all very fair.
-
Lol at oscar "moving on".
-
Stopped just short of saying oscar should pack his crap and GTFO of Manhattan
-
I can't quite figure out the mechanics of the joke but something about the 2 of them reaching the conclusion just now in 2016 that currie/oscar aren't good and that the interview must've been conducted in a hot tub time machine.

those two are really on top of things. Fans started to turn on oscar after the Texas loss? This tenure is starting to look like his tenure at Illinois? We've got a couple of fuckin' experts here.
-
Do you guys really think we could PI oscar into retirement? :crossfingers:

Remember when he stared the refs down on his way to the locker room in Lawrence? That was him trying as hard as he can to look tough.

A few take always from the fitz interview.
KK said he thinks curries treatment of students and fans at games in regards to being more sportsman like has "created a division" that he doesn't think Currie can recover from.
KK said you have to have moral flexibility to compete at the highest level of sports and thinks Currie is unwilling to operate that way. Also said he thinks Currie is doing exactly what Kirk wants him to be doing.

Oh yea! Currie is definitely Kirks prison bitch. Pretty sure we've all realized that by now.

The shittiest post of this totally crap situation is that we'll most likely be better next year, so we'll have brucy-kins for at least next year and almost for sure the year following. eff.

Day late, dollar short. All is right with the world!

really sad

We will finish 9th or 10th in the Big 12.

The conf just got quite a bit stronger today. We did not. Not a good thing for the second worst team in conf.

Hot.dang. We did finally have post.season excitement. That was.fun. We got the old juices flowing. Basketball was fun. No oscar weiner bland. Now back to post.season excrement. Next news a 4th dud.recruit, camp weber for uncoordinated little dribbling tots, and blowouts in Europe. I just.want.excitement and hope we might.land on the moon instead of.getting.a.trip to Yoder to see hairy legged Amish women.

Fitz will be appearing on the Lutz show today, not that I am suggesting anyone listen to that crap.

This is why the expectations have to be very high for next year. The results have to be good enough that we can hold our nose and live with Weber/Currie. For me, that is a conference championship (regular season or tournament) and no worse than a 3 seed. If Weber gets that done, I will tip my cap and say "proceed" (but quietly, and don't tell anybody you are our coach).
-
I mean, less than a year ago they were defending oscar and telling everyone to give him time because it wasn't his fault all the players were on the weed drugs and stuff
-
Huh, sounds like FITZ doesn't want to be associated with you people after all.

Interesting that his entire career is organized around counterprogramming gE.
