Leap day should be a federal holiday.

Was going to get out of the office a bit early and run around a bit, but probably will just stay until the end of the day.  I like the idea of Leap Day.

Anybody know the originals of leap day?

The earths orbit actually takes 365.25 days to circle the sun. So in order for us to stay current and correct time based on our calendars, we add an extra day every 4 years to account for that extra time.

Well not exactly every hundred years.

Quote
There is a leap year every year whose number is perfectly divisible by four - except for years which are both divisible by 100 and not divisible by 400. The second part of the rule effects century years. For example; the century years 1600 and 2000 are leap years, but the century years 1700, 1800, and 1900 are not. This means that three times out of every four hundred years there are eight years between leap years.
