Players fed up as they don't like recent changes to off-season training regimen, which has been ratcheted up from previous years and previous years it was already tough.

People in Vanier sense change of some sort is in the air with at least several assistants...no real coaching activity or leadership since their return from break.

Learned last night from sources close to Jonathan Banks that the former four-star quarterback from 2015 is leaving the K-State football program. Well, he made that official today.

I have also heard reports of other players possibly moving on as well, names that would certainly be recognized here, but am unable to confirm those 100% at this time. When information presents itself, I will do my best to provide details there.

As always, the GPC staff has been sitting on this information and knew long before anyone else..............................

I called this one during the season after Skylar Thompson committed and there were rumors Banks may be considered for another position.  He turned down several schools because he wanted to play QB.  So this is not a surprise.

Could also be 4 chambers plus an LVAD....just sayin.

I stand by my opener. 13 have left. All names I gave are gone. Other names I don't have were walkons from my understanding. Davis, Banks, and Prewett were significant names. Prewett having biggest upside. Rest were just meh. Banks is just first to go public. You can thank me later.

Davis has always hated the assistant coaches.  Source:  plenty good.

Prewett is a loss, but I honestly think he was our four-best safety, behind Barnett, Adams, and Newlan.  Still sad to see him leave, though.

Davis was going to be behind Moore, Lee, and probably some of the other good young linebackers (Johnston, Kirby, Hughes, Sullivan)

Be definition, not "watershed" but thanks for the info anyhow.

All the man is saying is that he doesn't want his son known as a running qb who can't throw. He isn't accusing anyone of anything other than to say that K-State's offense is essentially let's run the qb a billion times a game.

Waters was a flash in the pan sought out to really take full advantage of the gifted prodigy that was Tyler Lockett.  And even casual followers of KSU football should know this.  Dads doing research on teams for their kid to play for should also know this.

Although if you go back to Snyder 1.0 there were some quality pro style throwing plays in the offense. Of course, that's a long time ago, plus Banks and Co. could've seen just how terrible our wide receiver corp is/was.

I don't think we love to pass as much as we dislike having our starter get physically beaten every season.

If we have a QB who can take absurd punishment, we will give him the ball.

To be fair, Waters had just come in from Juco and (sort of) started. Also, for some inexplicable reason we had Hubes throwing a bunch this year--no way was Banks worse there.

Without any inside knowledge I have to think it comes down to who knows the playbook best. Some coaches simplify the playbook in order to take advantage of athletes who should be on the field. Snyder seems unwilling to do that. He sort of gave Sams a shot at by splitting reps with Waters, but it didn't work out obviously.

It's more about minimizing downside as opposed to maximizing upside. Every coach is going to select the qb who can quickly and consistently make the correct reads under pressure. Whatever "wow" factor banks had, it obviously didn't translate into consistency or production. Alot of guys can excel in HS or JuCo simply because they're athletic, but that doesn't account for much in the P5.

snyder is not in charge of the offense. dimel is. running and the qb running game is not dimel's thing. never has been, never will be. that's why we got waters over sams and snyder wondering out loud in post game why daniel didn't play more.

This has changed in Snyder 2.0.  We tolerated the mistakes of Bishop and Roberson, because of their upside.  I don't think this is Snyder's preference, actually.  Go back and listen to him talk about Bishop in 1997-98; I remember he said something along the lines of "we have to make sure we don't coach him too much and detract from his natural abilities and leadership."  Of course,  Banks or Sams probably wasn't MFB.

the fact that people are upset about Banks transferring really puts into perspective where we are as a program.  this guy was a no-talent juco scrub with no offers or interest from any D-1 program.  the fact we're recruiting guys like this in the first place is mind blowing.

So this quote from GPC member, healthinv, who seems to have a friendship with DSams is interesting. Coupled with the fact that several years later Snyder was lamenting the way he played DSams and didnt play him more:

Quote
Definitely was Daniel's decision to leave but he didn't want to leave. However, he felt very strongly that one of the OC's didn't have his best interest at heart. From the plays called when Daniel was QB to giving him the appropriate time in practice to make sure he would get the required reps.

Who knows maybe had something to do with who the OC recruited to come play QB over Daniel, can't really say for sure. But yes, ultimately it was Daniel's decision.

Is there something to DEL MILLER purposefully trainwrecking games last year because he is at odds with Bill???  :dunno:

But it's fun to place blame on people based on conjecture!  DAMN YOU DEL :shakesfist:

I always thought it was Miller that had the issue with Daniel and not Dimel.  Miller is technically the passing game coordinator and QB coach, and he was the guy that recruited Waters.

I've said it a million times.   Dimel was not a good OC the first time around and he was not here for the pinnacle of LHC Bill Snyder era dual threat QB play.   I cannot count Klein because IMO Klein's success was pure scheme, whereas Bishop and Roberson and to a lessor extent Beasley made things happen via a scheme AND outstanding athletic ability.    Neither one of them knows what to with a truly dynamic athlete playing QB.

TownieCat . . .  your analogy

Being of larger size and ramming into the line doesn't take a dynamic athlete.   Almost all of Klein's longer runs were either beautifully blocked/schemed extremely well, props to him for making the reads and for being somewhat sneaky fast.

First of all, it could be easily debated that Klein didn't have that great of vision as a ball carrier based on the number of times he got skitti brained because he clearly didn't see he was about to get obliterated.   He was a skilled ball handler and very skilled at reading the defense in the read option.   But scheme and blocking propelled his success and it's not even debatable in terms of raw athletic talent and his ability to turn literally nothing into something spectacular relative to the pinnacle of dual QB play in the Snyder era.

The usual suspects who can't handle any perceived criticism of their team/hero's strike again.    I'm not devaluing what Klein did, he just wasn't the athlete that the pinnacle of dual threat QB'ing at K-State had lining up behind center, no need for the usual suspects to get all butthurt because I'm not heaping as much glowing praise on Klein as they demand.   The original statement was also more inline with our two OC's who IMO don't know what to with better athletes at QB.

You should start a Bombshell II thread, or take it to the conference realignment thread.

Oh and WacKKKyTuck . . . we had to value the football more with Klein because we weren't nearly as dynamic across the board  on offense in terms of athletes and our defense redefined bend and hopefully don't break.

Prewitt officially off the team. They're citing an underage drinking incident in December being the reason.

They really need to cite better issues.  No one will come here if they think we are kicking off kids for drinking a beer.

TCU was ass as well, and you conveniently left out OSU(9 carries, 72 yards), which was better than either of those teams.  You can also use your eyes to see that Barnes is bigger, stronger, faster, more agile and more decisive than Silmon regardless of competition.  Don't get me wrong, Silmon is decent, but Barnes is better in every perceptible way, don't know what you see in Silmon that is better, he was often undecisive in his cuts and danced in the backfield a lot early a la Charles Jones.

I think that Barnes is better, but I agree with scribe somewhat in that I don't think the difference between the two is as pronounced as their stats would suggest. Against TCU and A&M, Silmon was just a stud.  I'm glad we have both, and I think both will get plenty of carries and yards next year.

I'm saying right now, that at the end of next season Silmon will have more rushing yards than Barnes.

I think that Barnes is better, but I agree with scribe somewhat in that I don't think the difference between the two is as pronounced as their stats would suggest. Against TCU and A&M, Silmon was just a stud.  I'm glad we have both, and I think both will get plenty of carries and yards next year.

Steffy gets it.

Neither of you have ever gotten anything

Kim are you one of those kids who walks around listening to Hawthorne Heights and hands out flyers for their slam poetry performances?

the only player mentioned here who really matters is Thompson. he's the only QB that mattes in a post-Ertz-injury scenario.
